I heard the roosters. This reminds me somewhat of the salty adobe clay loam in New Mexico + the eternal dust bowl. Rusts through stuff and sticks to everything, highly saline, in some areas enough to burn the skin on your feet if you walk barefoot! Well, anything to slightly reduce the appeal is a good thing, honestly.
It's a lot of work to keep a home in good condition here. A decent house becomes a shack in no time without proper care. We see a lot of that here. I'm not into throwing away my money, so I clean.
