I made a jig like this for my full size Dewalt router from scraps around the garage. Made a register plate from plexiglass. I have made four of these types of bowls. It's a lot of fun to do but it can get a little fiddly to get all the nooks and crannies looking good.
Very very intriguing and what a cool result. It is a dramatic look and still functional if needed. I wouldn’t, that would be just on display if it was mine! New subscriber btw!! Loved it!
The only word I can think of is "stunning" William, I honestly think that there is even more amazing work to come from you using this jig. Excellent video. Cheers Mike PS - It was a great pleasure to meet you mate.
Thanks Mike, getting there with this Jig. Im pleased to see others following and Ive seen some great output alreday. It was great to finally meet you in person at last!
Thanks Paul, not quite 100%, the annular grooves on the reverse not quite even but I think only a turner would notice. I have a 120 flute project mapped at 3mm intervals with a 3mm cutter and 115mm radius, so it will need to be a rimmed platter or bowl. Any suggestions regarding timber selection?
Hi William, this must rank as one of the nicest bowls I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Your workmanship is really excellent and your delivery is amusing too! Best wishes Paul
Very nice work and a wonderful way to use a router. The last time I used Iroko was in the '70's and I worked in a boatbuilders who built wooden boats and we used Iroko for the frame laminations. (I wasn't one of the real workers, I just produced the drawings for them to build the boat.) P.S: Love the humour and look forward to many more visits to your channel.
It's all about inspiration isn't it? I get so much of that from watching youtube videos AND just because your craft is different to mine does not mean I don't get inspiration! I really do. This is only the second one of your videos I've watched so far but will keep a keen eye open for what's to come. By the way, I used to live in Bromyard !!!!
Yes the jig is great but requires some careful thought and practice. The spreadsheet I developed helps planning a lot and has been used by over 130 turners. Free when you get your jig.
Yes Nick, There was a large chip came off which I just used CA to put is back, run the router over it again, sanded the sealed. There were two minor chips which I did not find so had to use medium CA and dust to infill. I made a little former using electrical tape to hold in whist the CA cured. Had to rub down by hand then seal. Almost invisible except to anoither turner of course!
OK I am about 4 years late. But I loved the wood, I loved the bowl. I loved the lattice rim, I loved the finish and I even loved the music, for about 15 seconds. After that it was just iritating.
Hi William I have just binged watched most of your Paul Howard projects. The spread sheet you use is it something that you have put together? Cheers Colin
Great job well done.
Thank you Al, Im having fun with this equipment.

Very very intriguing and what a cool result. It is a dramatic look and still functional if needed. I wouldn’t, that would be just on display if it was mine! New subscriber btw!! Loved it!

Very nice job. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Ron!
Absolutely love it well done William. Your client will be pleased 😀
Thanks Steven, Ill have on to it for a few days to make sure it doesn't do anything silly! Its unlikely to, kiln dried, dusty and old.
That's what I do before I take any thing to the gallery's. I would hate for it to crack, when they have spent good money on it.
stunning piece once again
Thanks Lindsay.
What a lovely piece. Your certainly getting to be a dab hand with the router jig. Well done.
Thanks Derek, sure Im slowly getting there.
Beautifull piece of art.
Thanks Peter, never really thought of myself as an artist!

Magnifique pièce ! travail intéressant a faire!!
Sprung William, a very lovely piece of work. You seem to be getting better with more cutting. 120 now that’s a challenge. Cheers mate Roger 🇦🇺......
Thanks Roger. Yes, 120 a challenge but I just saw with 180, using a gearbox cog as an index plate, that both awesome and depressing!
Looking forward to trying this with my kit
Hi William, this must rank as one of the nicest bowls I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Your workmanship is really excellent and your delivery is amusing too!

You don't need me to tell you that that is a great bowl! 😁
Sorry to have missed one of you at UKIWS. Maybe next year.
Peter, sorry I missed you, as you say next July will come around soon enough!
Funny! Comic in another life? Nice work.
Wow 😮 stunning 👍🏻🇦🇺
My Best piece on the fluting jig.

Chliiford, yes I agree it's all about inspiration. I have to reply on TH-cam, old books and magazines as I dont have much artistic talent built in.
That bowl is fantastic! Great work!! I have the Paul Howard sphere jig and after watching your video i am going to go check out this jig 👍👍
Yes the jig is great but requires some careful thought and practice. The spreadsheet I developed helps planning a lot and has been used by over 130 turners. Free when you get your jig.
Great piece and video William. Can you expand on how you did rim repairs?
Yes Nick, There was a large chip came off which I just used CA to put is back, run the router over it again, sanded the sealed. Thanks, William, interesting the join held up on being routed! Good to know.
Nick, nobody more surprised than I...
Very nice 👍
Thank you Mark!
Wow - amazing!
Beautiful looking bowl William, how can two people not like that one things for sure they're not woodturners.
Thanks! probably one of my better efforts.
Hi William have just watched this video again, great work, is it possible to get a copy of the paul howard fluting jig planner?
Its beautiful
I really like the manufacturing technology! How to see the device itself for cutting.
Ill do some close-ups next fluting Jig project.
Muy muy bonito y original enorabuena 👍🇪🇸
Which router and model are you using. Came out very nice.
I use a Trend T4.
Very nice I like the natural wood a lot better safe turnings
Thanks James, Ive not turned Iroko before but I like the outcome.
OK I am about 4 years late. But I loved the wood, I loved the bowl. I loved the lattice rim, I loved the finish and I even loved the music, for about 15 seconds. After that it was just iritating.
Smart move 👍👏👏👏

If you emaIl me Ill send you a copy.
@@WilliamHuntLatheCraft thanks William dowle551@aol.com. Regards Colin
is that safe for tableware used? are you use foodgrading finished?
No, normally I dont use foodsafe finish unless Im asked too. this pice is too fragile for practical use.
wonderfull
Thanks Peter, I was more than happy with this one.
Do you ever sell on Etsy?
Not at the moment.
Lovely!
Is that your Evil Twin Brother?
Yup, but (mostly) harmless.
Great piece but the music is very irritating.
The music always manages to irritate someone! Next project no music.
