Amazfit Pace 2 or also known as Amazfit Stratos is the followup smartwatch of the first Amazfit model, which got quite a great success in the past year. Xiaomi uses its subsidary Huami to produce the watch and there already are public announcements about the plans to sell this watch worldwide. Looks like the US market will be the first outside china and if you are watching this video after march 2018 - likely you can already purchase the international version of this watch.
Amazfit will apparently have two versions - the 2 and the 2s, with the latter one offering a delightful leather strap and sapphire covering. Just as it is with many other Xiaomi products, there will be significant software differences between the Chinese and the international editions. And while we still have no clue about the Multilanguage ROM, we already have the first English customization based on the Chinese.
! NOTE material used for the sides and bottom is not carbon fiber, it is only fiberglas.
Likely the most unique feature is the transflective display. The more light comes at the screen, the better visibility you have. And there is of course back-light that helps you see it when it’s dark. Smartphone manufacturers - you may think of adopting this idea! You will have good visibility of the display, no matter the conditions. If it is dark, the illumination will help you see. If you are outside and there’s a lot of sunshine or bright light - the transflective display reflects the light and keeps the display visible. At no additional power cost! And from all that it’s the battery life that benefits most. It has capacity of just 280mah, and getting a full charge will take less than two hours. Standby time is amazing. If you use no sync, and connection is not on all the time, the consumption per day is between 5 and 10%. If sync is on, continuous heart rate, GPS and all the other goodies are on too, you may count on up to five days of operation. I have noticed that among the most battery intensive operations are the syncs. No matter what - this is likely the best battery life ratio for a device of such kind. And likely Xiaomi are making another technology breakthrough.
Hardware wise it impresses once again: 512 ram, 4GB ROM and in-house developed Xiaomi chip, featuring ultra low power consumoption with unprecedented performance.
You may count on GPS, sleeping monitor, heart rate monitor even in continuous mode, alarms, sport trainer programs and much more than that. And everything mentioned comes on top of the well known smartwatch capabilities as step count, push notifications, call reminders, phone finder and … wow - the list got long, so I may stop.
It is waterproof and swimming is an option.Let me walk you through the menus. Swiping left and right is going to navigate you through the main features. Should you want to change anything - use the middle button. To go back - use the bottom one. I can imagine that some of the next app updates will give ways to adjust the button’s behavior.
The swipe left and right functions are quite many. You may choose some of them to be disabled via the app. Swipe up and you see the notifications. Swipe down, and you will get quick access to screen brightness and settings. There are some options that you can control via the watch, and some which are adjustable via the app. Speaking of which - here it is - everything is nicely running in English.

I like the price range, the watch style and the battery life. Bought some screen protectors just in case. Don't like strap. Trying to get a wooden watch strap for this watch.
Wow, looks like the strap is a hit or miss. I like it a lot, but I have noticed that people are polarized - they either like it a lot, or dislike it big time :-)
Perhaps very soon there will be plenty of options. And of course, it uses standard size which makes it easy to choose a random brand.

If you drive in your car does it count as steps? Does it knows when you walk or when you drive? I use a weloop 3s, really love it mainly for swimming but when driving about 20km it counts around 3000 steps.
It doesn't count steps when I am driving.

Ruske It’s perfectly fine to swim in, it is completely waterproof 5m. As long as your not deep diving you’re fine.
I got this watch.. When I swam in 2 meters deep, it broke..
Help, mine got black screen. I dont even swim. sometimes i wash it with hands on the sink but should be completely fine as it says its ok to make it wet. any solution pls

Hi Jonny, you can have real-time information about it, however no graph with prolonged usage (guess you are looking for something similar to what some Garmin devices can do).

Hi Mohamed, yeah, I wish I can, however weather around is still not too great about outdoor sports, and on top of that I have never really used a devices for that, so my impressions may be not the best rating. Still - I plan to make such a video soon or later.

This one is definitely laggy, especially if you compare to new models. But most of the times that's fine.

Yeah, I am planning to try a Zeblaze.
But I am quite sure that they are different. This one has transflective display - a huge advantage. And has a well polished OS. Zeblaze often rely on heavily modified uncertified Android, which is not that cool.
Hi Tech4all can u advise pls, I just got my stratos (Chinese version)and trying to pair it to my iPhone but it always fails when I scan the QR CODE on the screen of stratos message that pears says: “Scan failed, Please scan the QR code on Amazfit watch”. Base on watching all the reviewers of this watch all u guys uses android phone. Do u know if stratos is compatible for iOS tho? Thanks in advance

Sure, it is compatible! I just am not sure whether the app supports the chinese version. Originally the official app was talking only to the Pace (v1), but now it is updated and recognizes the CHinese version too.

Likely the Chinese version will be the more affordable choice. And the customized ROM is based on the stock, and is stable enough.
It was just yesterday that I start to notice minor lag, which was caused by a few things working together. But there is a task manager and you can quickly fix that :D
These are early builds and in time it will get only better. So yeah - I believe you can order the Chinese version and use it. Likely the more important choice will e 2 or 2s - the S-model has Sapphire and leather strap too.

How did you get Mi Home app on the watch? I saw Mi Home on the slot right after Timer slot
That was the modified Chinese software, which arrives with Mi Home embedded. The international ROM doesn't have it because of regulations.

The Heartrate sensor is very accurate, I have performed multiple tests and it seems to be really good.

Hi John, I will check about the email. There is no option to reply.
Currently the sync is only with the Amazfit app an servers, but I believe google fit sync will arrive soon. There is an option to sync with the MiFit app, from which the data can be sent to google fit, but that seems to be overcomplicated.
tech4all Thanks Michael. I briefly owned the Amazfit Pace. When I had it you could only see the first line of any notification. You could also only see your steps on the watch not on the app. I hope they have made things better with this second version. I appreciate your help
John, since yesterday I am reading the notifications - it is the same with the emails. Other types of messages seem to be better shown, but for the emails that is quite a pity...

Yes, you can prepare GPX based routes and run them - this is quite useful for hiking, biking and so on. So yeah - at least that is supported 😎👍

Today I finally received the preordered Mavic air, and it still thinks it is in China (which is equal to FCC mode). And There is no longer cancel button, but choosing the back button keeps the FCC mode on. And it is the latest version of the DJI Go app.
So yeah - the hack works. There is even an easier version that I will post for the mavic air - just using the Fake GPS app - it will be good enough.
The latest version of the DJI go app brings some goodies, but is much heavier than what I remember from 4.1.8.
And at the end - I thought you are using an iPhone. Did you switch to something else or I got it wrong somewhere?

For the app. Errrr - this is a fight I have in myself. I don't like to update apps, but I had to, because the older DJI Go 4 is unaware of the existence of the Air.
But since you have an iPhone - go for the latest one. DJI software works much better on iOS and is much better optimized. And most of the people with iPhone usually say the FCC mode works fine with latest versions :-)

I have the amazfit 1 and it doesn't have the flat tire screen. And it's only $90.
latest firmware update makes my Pace operate just like Stratos.
2 months of use and I also have Fenix 3 HR, and i testify it is poor man's Garmin Fenixes, and at certain area beat the Garmin.

I believe that both watches are designed for different kind of usage: the Amazfit is clearly more sporty, while the Gear S3 is on the Android Wear side.
After having used transflective display, I cannot imagine using any other kind of display for a watch.

Wish it had an exercise or basic workout function like the verge. If your doing weight training or other aerobic activity it doesn't have a category for it.
The Verge seems to have some newer functions, which probably the sensors of the Stratos cannot handle.
I am watching these reviews since last month and I was waiting for the English version and you made the video, excellent but if you talk about watch amazing all features but I thing I don't understand why they ate not doing it is a camera.??

A camera in the watch? I believe they didn't include one mostly because they want to keep a lower price. And overall - a camera in a watch may not be as good as one in a smartphone because of the processing power.

*it can be operated by using the buttons. As of now, built-in watch faces are just few but you can customize them or make your own custom made using Fabio's site. Apps are just the built in one's like running, etc... You can install some modified apps bud it's too limited.
*Yes all notifications can be chosen. You can also see incoming call
*No idea about alipay.
* You can use it for swimming under 30
meters.
*Your can also play and control music from your phone.

You ca have a lot of custom watch faces - they simply need to be copied to the watch's storage and that's it. There is a nice facebook group for Amazfit Owners and I've seen a lot there

LuchoGrafiix, I prefer not to give opinion about the Ticwatch, because I have never had the chance owning or testing one. Sometimes what you seen online is slightly different from the actual product in terms of perception and feeling. The Amazfit Stratos is great, but - just from initial impressions - the Ticwatch is very solid!

Hi Steven, thank you very much for the kind words! I am not sure it can do that thing with the GPS. And at least for now, there are no voice commands supported. I doubt it has a microphone. Even if there is such - it is not announced as part of the features :|
Hi, after 2 years with Stratos 2, I would like to share my experience this way. Yes, I like the look of the watch and the display, GPS features (Trackrecording, speed, distance etc.) and HR monitoring. To put it in a nutshell: HR doesn't work at all after 20 months, before with drop-outs and false values. Operating modus changed - let us say - once a week. For example: I very often use the "Trail" modus. One day, you get there with 2 clicks, the other day searching with about 10 clicks, next day it takes 5 minutes and you find it by chance, or you leave it alone, waiting for next week and it will be fine again. At present, I try to find the reset button, hoping this will fix the HR blackout. No chance. My display is quite different from that of the others, after clicking the menue buttons. I expect that such a device will last longer than 24 months, when guarantee is just running out.

There doesn't seem to be a reset button. You may try some more factory resets but that likely won't help much.
Can you pair this with a chest heart rate strap? Mine does ANT+ and Bluetooth, among others.

I have the English version, same watchface on your post. But i noticed that the RED color on my watch is light red, like pink compared to your watchface is really RED. How to adjust it to make it really RED not pink.
I am not sure this is possible. Could be because of the video - maybe if we put them side by side they will look the same way. I have done zero customizations at the time the review was shot.
How well does Strava sync work with Amazefit?
Hi Syed, to get Strava synced get the application from Play Store (the international version). Although it doesn't mention Amazfit 2, it does support it and I am using it since a week. Strava is linked there.
Edit: didn't notice the "well" word in your question - I cannot say yet. We have like 30-40 cm snow :D No way to do outdoor activities.

Think about the purpose - if it is mostly about software - the Ticwatch, because it is Wear OS based. If it is mostly abour sports - the Amazfit is way better.

As for extra apps - officially no. But there are ways to run WearOS apps if you sideload them and if the hardware supports them.

Hi Mike, yes - vibration is very good when there is notification. And it is configurable - there are three different levels that you can choose from.

I have bought amafit stratos today. It seems charging all the time. How can I understand it's charged fully. Because 100 showing all the time during charging . Not showing charged. Why is that. However amazing watch. Another issue is , to monitoring my sleep. Do I have to wear it during sleep. Please inform me. As you are specialist.
Hi Ziaul - I am far away from being a specialist, just a passionate enthusiast.
When it shows 100%, then it is charged. Just take it off the charger.
As for sleeping - yes, you will have to wear it :-)

Almost nothing is different between Amazfit Stratos and Amazfit Pace. Just the design.

You are correct. And on 3:48 I have played the info-bar indicating this. ANd that is noted in the description, as well as on our website. In fact I also was unaware about this at the very beginning. Overall even the tempered glass is quite scratch resistant - my usage type is quite intensive.

I have it. Settings -> common -> Time format. And you can choose the 24hr option.
The strap looks weak or flimsy, being held by a pin. How does it feel IRL?

If you like bulky watches, then you will believe the strap is weak. Ever since I got the watch (maybe a month before publishing this review) I am using it absolutely every day (except when not sleeping). So far I have no scratches, damages or whatsoever. The strap is something I totally love, because I easily get skin irritations by straps done of non-skin-friendly materials. It is thinner than Casios and look to be not as strong as the Garmin Fenix 5 (Fenix 5 has larger pin while the amazfit has standard sized pin).
But It never failed me during sport activities. Still - you know best the type of actions you usually go through, and my type of usage may significantly differ.

Yes, a lot has changed. Also the alignment of the menus - perhaps because they want the navigation to be unified and Amazfit-Verge-like.
I have the amazfit bip with an awesome battery life of upto 10 days with everything running. I swim with it everyday. When i bought the bip the English version of stratos 2 was not out yet. But now i'm having second thoughts when i saw that notch at the bottom. I mean why?? I need a swimming smartwatch because i'm a swim coach but i prefer android were. I do have and swim with my sony smartwatch 3. But i need something newer! Any suggestions?
I will be closely watching responses to this one :-) I can confirm that TicWatch Pro is N|OT suitable, despite the ip68 rating.
Usual problem is that smarter watches have a microphone and speaker, which do not come along good with swimming.
