Who else could write and perform a catchy pop song that turns into a piano concerto, a Phillip Glass symphony and back into a towering ballad at the end? Only Susanne.
LOL yep - I'm a fan of M83 and Anthony Gonzalez - know what, though? Joe Trapanese wrote more of that Oblivion soundtrack than they would probably admit to, including the cleverer orchestral bits - rather like George Martin with The Beatles......
I'm a big fan of Trapanese - I loved the work he did on the Tron Legacy soundtrack with Daft Punk, too.
@@joebryant8500 I believe he's referring to the obvious rip off of Philip Glass's Mishima that happens in the bridge. Anyways, this is a stunning song and as a similar feeling to that of "For the Kids" of M83, that features the beautiful voice of Susanne.

I remember reading a book while actually sitting down to listen to this album from start to finish and this song made the book come to life. I even stopped reading and succumbed to the richness of the song. It was so emotional and magical. Chills literally erupted on my skin. Because of that, this song will always remind me of that book and how happy I felt in that moment.
I was sleeping with my headphones on while listening to the radio on Spotify, and this song pierced my dreams. I remember the dream so vivid in such a powerful ancient time scene, that the same emotion of the environment so captivating woke me up. And it was this song that was provoking it.
That's how I met Susanne. She enlightened me through a dream with her beautiful voice.
She's a talent for the ages, this girl. Absolute genius songwriter, and that crystal - pure voice. I could listen to her forever.
Even if you put it on youtube, i'll buy the album. Its not usual for me to like an entire album. Stay yourself Susanne

...but, seriously: the equation might be more complex than that and what I'm going to say could be unfair, but I think that in most angles from which you can look at the issue, the blame is on (the "majority" of) the audience, basically.
At least for not looking at everything as seriously as they should. Because this is critical not only about music but our lives. Most ppl are still blind to pretty much everything ...whether this is their fault or not, is debatable, and probably irrelevant to this (or any) song :p

Suzanne is a musical goddess. I can't think of any other song that starts as a pop ballad, transmutes into a creamy Rachmaninov piano concerto, and returns us to the reprise of the song by way of an extended orchestral suite that Philip Glass would be proud of. Genius.

I sometimes feel that people use the terms Love and Hate far to loosely, being the two strongest human emotions possible. But, I truly mean it when I say, I love this song, and the album, and Susanna. Very much.

Listening to this album in the past, I always thought Slowly or Fade Away were my favourite tracks. These days, however, the power and emotion of Memorial always strikes me in an inexplicably personal way. Every piece of music on this album is wonderful in its own way, but this is extraordinary. Ten Love Songs really is the gift that keeps on giving. 😌

I'm really pissed off that this became unavailable on Spotify- at least in my country (Philippines). This is one of my faves on the album, but it's preventing me to play the album because I'm so bothered that this track isn't there anymore. I usually listen from start to finish specially if I like the record. It's pissing me off.

I grew up in the pre-digital age, and if you liked a piece of music then you went to the record shop and bought it - on VINYL! There was no such thing as 'free' music - unless you went round your mate's house and listened to it there! BTW, I still have my LP collection and listen to it on my old Pink Triangle turntable when the neighbours are out - which is far too infrequently, sadly!
