I believed that in terms of bad characterization and characters assassination nothing could surpass Krakoa Era but I seeing that Gail's X-Men run don't are better in this regard too. The people that still read and buy modern X-Men books are true warriors. The brand are damaged more than Star Wars at this point and all these characters were ruined in the past Era. I just can't define what the X-Men are anymore.A bunch of outcasts?A murderous anti-hero team? I just know they don't are heroes for a long time now. I just hate how modern writers butched the entire team original purpose.
As someone who’s currently rereading the Claremont X-men, I thought rogue sounded like a parody of herself in Gail’s X-men. What doesn’t make sense is how rogue never had an issue with her speech for over 40 years and not only is it all of a sudden an issue, she’s made her talk stupid to try to make it seem like she has a problem. Gail isn’t a good writer, sorry. She is your typical 40 year old cat lady who uses the exact same dialogue and humor all the other female writers use in comics today.
Says there’s a reply to this but I can’t see it. The comments algorithm has actually gotten worse in the last few weeks, I didn’t think it was possible but they actually did it.
This art is so juvenile 😑 everyone looks like a teen. The new character's are teens but not Cyclops and the other's 🤦🏾♂️. The art is not that appealing either very scratchy and undefined in alot of area's terrible 😣
I have three questions for anyone on here: 1. If you were in charge of the x Men comics, what would you do ? 2. How did you y'all feel about Smallville version of Pete Ross ? 3. How would you manage A wonder woman series ?
1. Treat the X men with respect. Write them as heroes who strive to protect the world for all humans, regardless of they are mutants or not. 2. I haven't really watched Smallville so I can't comment on Pete. 3. Write Diana as a brave, compassionate warrior who will fight to defend others who can't defend themselves and lives up to her moniker as the voice of truth. She never tells lies even when she should because being honest is very important to her.
Pete who is originally white in the comics became a token black character like all the other old school WB tv shows and never had a purpose on Smallville!
1. Narrow down the cast, a lot, probably 20 total among 3-4 books. Then have a mutant enemy, some form of conspiracy for them to fight against over an extended story. In other words, get back to fighting evil mutants. 2. Barely remember it, to be honest. Saw a few Smallville episodes, but wasn't a big fan. Sorry. 3. Go more mythological, was a big fan of the George Perez version and would love to see more like it. But give her a role to play within the Greek Myths and have them start to intrude into the world at large.
I dropped Uncanny X-Men when I picked up its first issue back in August. That art and its story with some dragon was the gut feeling I got that this is going to be bad. Glad I went with the gut feeling.
Between you and me... I took Uncanny off of my pull starting at issue 9... My shop forgot to put issue 8 in my pull last week and I may or not have said to myself thanks I get to bail out an issue early and save myself 5 bucks... and didn't buy it... im also done with McKays Xmen... ultimate wolverine looks dope... I'll put my 5 bucks towards that for now
When I read just issue nine of x-men I thought this story was pretty much over. Cannot believe they got another issue out of this storyline in Uncanny.
Modern X-men has just pissed me off so completely, I have taken all their book's off my pull list. I hung with Uncanny until #5. Now im done 🤦🏾♂️. X-men has always been my favorite book for 30 years. Now im forced to look elsewhere. Im all about Indie books now, Geiger, Conan,TMNT, and surprisingly D.C. now, which I never read, but Marvel is so awful now I had to switch up to keep enjoying the hobby of reading comics.
X-force has been pretty decent, and X-Men kind of reminds me a little of the 90's, but not worth buying. Reading to see if it can get better, but not buying.
What kind of name is Bobby Scurvy? Sounds like a shitty name for a pro wrestler with a country boy and a pirate hashed into one terrible gimmick. “Arrr, I sailed across the seven seas from over yonder, so that I could teach these land lovers how to wrassle, y’all.”
Without the plush Marquez art to prop up Simone it really dove off a cliff with issue 8 wowza -- I'm done after I get the issues I already ordered so two more months of Marquez covers at least & I'm on to greener pastures smh
All I will say on this is that it did end feeling more like the set up for X-Manhunt. It was good to see that it was not Prof. X as the big scary mysterious mutant in the prison cell showcased in issue #1 too. I know this will "anger" some but the issues did sell. Couple parts sold out and had to get more. It's not Gail's best work but its better then most her past recent work. I am not going to get into a pissing match on this any more. I think there is too much deep reading into tiny moments that really don't mean much. Can we do better? Sure. But feels like going in a decent direction. WTF20.
I think editorial may be responsible for some of what went wrong with this issue, such as the complete non-reveal of who Prisoner X is. But the terrible characterization and writing for Rogue is all on the writer. I did enjoy some of the interactions that didn't involve Rogue and Cyclops, but Rogue really ruined the whole thing.
I'm so glad I waited on this title. I thought the first issue was okay but subsequent two issues sounded bad (Kurt furry etc). Now this. Gail was given easily the best team and set up out of all the titles, draw back on both 90's and Outback era, reject Krakoa and let it and these characters write themselves. Instead she completely sh*t the bed. So glad again I never kept up with it.
Marvel can save the X-men just restart and relaunch and throw gobs of money to Claremont and Byrne and sign them to a three year deal. And most importantly leave them alone and let them do what they do best.
I don't know, Chris' writing has been decent with his mini series but he's not the Claremont of old. Still, I'd prefer him over what we have and anyone else at this point
@@tvsavery666yeah Claremont wasn't that great the last few times he did ongoing titles in the 2000s (Xtreme, Excalibur, New Exiles etc) but he was better than anyone since Remender and Brubaker (so the last 10-15 years) has been.
i think its starting to show that having Gail on the main X title is not ideal. this is not her lane.. you know whats a good paring w gail a book Like... Heroes for hire... a book Like Secret defenders, a Book like Rom a Mircronauts books or something of the sort... giving her this lead role after the event of the biggest fumble of a Book in the past five years is a Tall task for her... this would only work if she were around a Pyraidm team of super writers that would force her to stand on her toes to bring her absolute damn best. - SHE is the star writer of this Rebranding of the entire X family and mckay is wingman and right now that's just not gonna do... plus they starting to over expand without good press on the other ones... no one is asking the thought questions when it comes to the X Men it's weird
tried reading this but all the dialogue is so stunted and random, like a little kid's cartoon on teletubby's or something. it's just really bad. and the art is just as bad. it's not even the simplicity it is just bad art.

2:18 Wes, I had the same feeling when I read Batman Inc., Batman & Robin and Batman by Tom King and Tynion.
Gambit is a Cajun. Rogue is a southern bell.
Both modern characters.
Gail Simone needs to do some research.
It's almost like Gail Simone sucks are writing. Who could have seen this coming??
EVERYONE!!!
Cyclops should have hit back at Rogue when she said "At least we don't have Magneto on our team." with "At least I didn't sleep with Magneto."
if Simone is missing easy access snark like that she really is mailing it in
