And then supposedly, around late Summer of 1990, that’s when I started to watch cartoons on Nickelodeon, by the time I was 7-years-old. I guess it’s good to know that Nickelodeon has been around for nearly 45 years.
In 1977, a cable service called Qube started, available only in Columbus, Ohio. Qube had several channels, one of which was called Pinwheel after its only show. Two years later the channel expanded its lineup, renamed itself Nickelodeon, and became available nationally.
Most people don’t know what a Nickelodeon is. It’s a coin-operated single-person movie theatre that was popular during the early days of movies. Im 49, so I basically grew up watching during the late-mime era into the silver ball era (1979-1985). That's MY classic Nickelodeon. I outgrew Nick around 1987. By then, all the shows I'd grown up with were pretty much gone after 1985's reimaging of the entire network.
Nickelodeon was a great channel throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. When Cyma Zarghami became CEO in 2004, everything went downhill, and it went downhill HARD.
As I just said I wasn’t born until 1991 but for some reason the 1987 one in this video is my favorite the one with the jungle animals singing. I wasn’t even alive to see it and didn’t see it until I got older when it ended up on the internet yet it overtook all the ones from the 90’s that I do remember in terms of being my favorite. I grew up in the early 80s and this video brings back so many memories, especially the pinball bumper.
I love how the 1985 version of the Nickelodeon logo has been keeper for the LONGEST :)
I agree too

Yes
Oh MAN. The end of the 1988 one was used as a sound byte in the Nickelodeon Director’s Lab software and I probably heard it like 1000 times throughout my childhood. This took me way back.
Oh my God this is bringing back memories of when I was a child and I miss being a child looking back at my life I kinda wish I could go back I am now 33 years old I remember watching Nickelodeon
Even as someone like me who never grew up with Nick, although I grew up with SpongeBob and Rugrats, I can feel some nostalgia from these bumpers.
I'm sorry you had to watch SpongeBob
@@SabresGuy87 The old Spongebob, not the new ones.
These make me feel nostalgic even though I was born in 2009
The ‘silver ball’ graphics were actually pretty good for 1981
At 2:06 Nickelodeon predicted 9/11 in 1983
@@mackenzieking9862 then the creator of this logo must have been a time traveler.
@@mackenzieking9862 why do I love this dark joke
your acting like 1981 was ancient
@@samiam2003 Yeah, because it was 41 years ago, that mean kids that saw this, are 50+ years now.
As a brit growing up, we had kids tv on in the morning before school and after school as well.
Changed to real kid channels in 1993 I think ¿
The bumpers throughout the 2000s gave me alot of nostalgia. I also like 90s bumpers for how wacky they were
I was born in '86 so my Nickelodeon days didn't start until '90 or '91 but man I was glued to that shit especially around Halloween when they would do "Snick Or Treat"....#LongLiveNickelodeon
So nostalgic it can bring back a lotta memories for your childhood :)
I was born in 1994 and it was a great era for me.
a couple of those bumpers I had forgotten about, but the second they came up I could remember them and what comes next in each one.

2000, 2001, and 2002 are so nostalgic it hurts...
Those bumpers bring back my own memories this was good bumpers I guess
As a 38-year-old this always brings joy to face I remember all this clear as day
The Silver Ball era is my favorite
The splat era is better in my opinion
The 80s to 2009 was amazing
Yeah it really was.
@@sgamerboy-hp4ni I even love the rainbow marbles
Im 49, so I basically grew up watching during the late-mime era into the silver ball era (1979-1985). That's MY classic Nickelodeon. I outgrew Nick around 1987. By then, all the shows I'd grown up with were pretty much gone after 1985's reimaging of the entire network.
I remember Nickelodeon in the 90's & early 00's when I was a child such as Rugrats, SpongeBob square pants and some others in my childhood generation
The 1994 one holds a close place in my heart,as I remember it before my Rugrats vhs
Nickelodeon was a great channel throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. When Cyma Zarghami became CEO in 2004, everything went downhill, and it went downhill HARD.
Who is Cyma Zarghami. Does he like Spongebob Squarepants.
I thought she became the president of Nickelodeon in 1985
whoever made the call to change the branding in 85 should recieve every award related to television/marketing ever concieved.
Still weird that they would incorporate a 50’s/60’s doo wop charm into something made in the 80’s.
6:11 This logo has aged well 😅

Man it really evolved a lot from the time I was brought to earth in 1981 until I can remember watching around 84 - 86
