    THIS VIDEO! 💥
    The 2019 Toronto Raptors won the NBA championship two years ago, and their incredible defense was a huge reason why. In this video I breakdown what made their defense so great with personnel and scheming by the coaching staff. Nick Nurse brought out the 1-2-2 zone against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, which later become known as the Giannis wall, or the great wall of Toronto. Then in the 2019 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors the Raptors used the box and one against Steph Curry during the absence of Klay Thompson. And when Thompson was back, a matchup-zone. The Raptors got very creative on defense, and their 8 man rotation (Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam, Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka, Fred VanVleet, Kyle Lowry, Norman Powell, and Danny Green) executed these game plans to perfection. Enjoy the breakdown!

    To think that they played the playoffs without OG Anunoby, another incredible defensive asset

    • @willmael7914
      @willmael7914 3 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Yeah I don't think people realize how big OG's defensive impact is. He's basically another Kawhi on that front. Yall don't realize that if we had OG for the playoffs, a lot of the 2019 series would look a lot different, including the Warriors. Even if you include the hypothetical of having a healthy KD present for the Finals, I'd still bet on the 2019 Raptors with OG. We would turn into the fucking 03 Pistons and beyond with that man on the team, and keep in mind that we were already the 2nd best playoffs defense ever without him.

    • @WillSoTrill

      OG is a defensive beast! Warriors, Bucks, 76ers would have PTSD every time they see the Raptors logo if they had to face this defense with Anunoby.

    2019 Raptors defense was legendary. If you look at their acquisition this off season they're looking for long versatile switch everything defenders to get back to this level, 20-21 defense fell off a cliff because they didn't have the personnel to execute.

    Bruh Giannis’ Bucks would still lose to the 2019 Raptors bc even tho Khris and Jrue were great they still shot so badly and still got lucky that Suns played Giannis 1 on 1 a ton versus Ayton. Those Bledsoe bricks would come from Jrue and Khris and even though they would make them at a higher rate, idk if it would be enough if Giannis didn’t get his touches.

      Knowing that Bucks are now dominating in the paint and midrange. The Bucks would have won, also their defense was better this season than the past, and Bud can make ajustement. Also Khris now is way better than his 2019 self and Jrue is a better playmaker (which was the real problem because a lot of ppl forget that Brogdon was just back from injuries and didn't has the chance to play fully healthy) allowing Giannis to play off the ball, in the post and he has a better midrange and playmaking.
      At the end, Suns or Hawks tried to use the Wall but it worked especially when Giannis drive from the top of the key and shooter don't move. But now Giannis is barely doing that

    • @whyaskpage
      @whyaskpage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paquinraino8180 disagree its that those teams couldn't use the aka "giannis wall" correctly and effectively, the raps had the right pieces and personnel to execute and it in a way were it works the best to force Giannis into few offensive options. Also, Giannis hasn't really changed his game since 2019 other than just a few 3pt shots here and there and being more dominant offensively. If you don't believe me you can check his stats, the only thing that's has really changed with the bucks team is that he has better help around him (jure holiday). Also, khris hasn't gotten better too he has been playing the same and has always been playing the same way since 2019 once again the stats prove that. The x factor that really changed the bucks was jure holiday and only him. If you would swap him with Bledsoe or brogdon the results of the finals would have been a lot different. Well to say all this that I def believe the 19 raps teams would def take the bucks we had the size and players to match up well.

    The 2019 Toronto raptors were a very good defensive team but they weren't an all-time, top 10 defense. They obviously had Kawhi and siakam who was a great perimeter defender that year but couldn't guard big powerful power forwards. apart from those two lowry has a good defender but old, same with danny green he really dropped of on defence that year, paul gasol more of the same he was a good defender but he had aged.

      I can’t think of 10 better off top. 96 Bulls, 04 Pistons, Bad Boy Pistons, 03 Spurs, Bill Russell’s Celtics, who else?
