Glad I've seen this Tiger II in Saumur. Great museum by the way, they also have a running Panther Ausf. A, completely original. The roar of the Maybach is something you'll never forget.
@ Fascinating isn’t it? Tiger II outweighing the vast majority of the modern MBT’s with such a relative weak engine and transmission. A Tiger II is so impressive when you’re standing close by one, a Leo or Challenger do not have such an impact, at least not on me.
Aber auf der rechten Zylinderreihe stimmt etwas nicht. Früher war es ein älterer Herr, der den "Tiger" gefahren hat, und der Motor klang da viel Kraftvoller und lief mehr "Rund".
Yeah he blamed the Tigers for his rough advance. He and maybe other officers also blamed the Volksgrenadier clogging up the road. Then when the Amercian pissed him off he just straight up executed US POW. Never this man fault obviously.
@ it is widely accepted among scholars of the battle that relying on the Volksgrenadiers to open a hole in the line for the panzer divisions in the northern sector was a mistake in planning.
Mein Gott - Es ist... Wunderbar! When he shifted at the end - that 69-ton jump felt like I landed on my kneecap - oh, that poor Final Drive, eh! ;) ;) RESPEKT!
That was f-ing awsome to bad there are not more out there in this condition running and I do believe it would have made a big difference if more where produced and the bugs worked out just like the jadgetiger and jadgepanther
Yes it was the strongest German tank in WW2, no Allied tank could match it. They had to resort to disrupting its supplies and destroy its workshop and the vehicle itself after it was abandoned to defeat this beast. Not many were left as they were hunted in priority by Allies due to its sheer threat.
@@sthrich635Not true. They were an extremely rare sight on the western front, so they were not deliberately hunted down by the allies. The allies didn’t single out Tiger 2 production as a priority target either, they were attacking all German manufacturing infrastructure. They were so few tiger 2’s that their numbers were almost negligible.
Jadgtiger was almost useless and built in very low numbers, so low that they were almost invisible on the battlefield. They were also massively underpowered and riddled with bugs. Jadgpanther was also only produced in low numbers.
@@greva2904 Perhaps to clarify a bit, hunting down the Tigers wasn't necessarily limited to direct engagement. As per the point stated, the strength of Tiger tanks meant direct combat engagement would be highly disadvantageous to the Allies, especially US forces. The allies did had very good intel and recon, thus their knew where the Tiger battalions were and deliberately avoided them, American commanders were smart enough to see putting Shermans right in the range of Tiger's 88 were not a good idea, hence the encounter was "rare" in the West, because the Western Allies were wary of its power. Their Normandy strategy in fact displayed this: The UK forces were to occupy large number of panzer divisions and Tiger battalions especially around Caen, while the American forces with Shermans went around to flank the German rear, resulting the Falaise Pocket later on. Encounters with deadly Tigers were rare exactly because the Allies made it so and no Allied unit would like to seek such thing anyway. And why would the largest bomber force in WW2, the US and UK air force, had to "single out" Tiger 2 productions and ignore other German factories? They were definitely not short on bombers and pilots, that's for sure. It didn't mean they weren't priority targets. Moreover, the bombing of Henschel Tiger tank plants was no Sunday part time job for US bomber wings - The factory was heavily bombed, that it was estimated to have loss around 600+ Tiger II production as a result. That's right, the bombing effort put from the Allies was enough to destroy more than 50% production output of a large industrial plant. The point that the Tiger 2 were few and so they were "negligible" was mis-leading and upside-down: Precisely it was due to heavy effort of the Allies, mostly through indirect measures, including flanking supply lines and air raid on homefront, that made the Tigers so few in number, as such they were in NO way "negligible" to the Allies.
They need to try and find more Panzerkampwagen IVs to repair. The number 1 German tank of WW2 with 10000 made. Wow. Incredible traveling King Tiger Henschel. We'll be able to add these in as movie background props. Can we find the right actors though that can play the parts like from long ago?!
I wonder if the museums considered making authentic generic stock footage that they could sell to studios when they make movies as a means of funding. That way they avoid the challenges of Fury yet could splice in full body shots as needed.
The only weak spot was the back hatch. A Sherman tank had to pass the TigerII from behind to knock'm out. The Maybach produced only 600 hp which is far less than needed. Such a vehicle, in comparison with his modern counterpart the Leopard II, needs at least 1500hp.....First metal cut was in 1944, too late to tip the balance in Germany's favour. Total production figure was 489.....The 88mm gun is described as the best gun of the war of all the parties involved. The 88 mm shell penetrated a Sherman at a distance of about a mile.....
ACHTUNG, PANZER!
Guderian 's Book
The restoration is outstanding!
Beautiful restoration, thankful there are those that understand the importance of preserving the past.

The roar of the terribly underpowered Maybach trying to move this beast. Also, it's not MPH with these. It's GPM; gallons per mile.

Amazing. What a machine. Ship it over to Bovington for a run out with its older brother, Tiger 131 - now that would be an event!
Hope it gets into a movie or two.
Boy,that engine is popping a ton! 🙀🙀🙀
Gute Arbeit. Beeindruckend immer noch, dieses Gerät!!
Appears to haveopse track tension on the right track. It jerks hard right at the least bit of turn.
The production turret, my favorite!
Gorgeous tank. Great lines!
I can't imagine being a foot soldier seeing and hearing that monster coming at you. Terrifying.
Thanks
Thank you for the Superchat.
What a monster! It even damages the road it's on!!!
They had 400 000 men, three roads and tigers to first destroy the road. They didn't even go halfway
Tanks were built for off road rugged battleground. They were never meant to be road friendly
Love Tigers..well done guys from n.z
Awesome, absolutely Awesome machine👍
Qué maravilla !!,y hasta con su"zimmerit", qué bueno que se conservó( fue conservado)...!!..
What a wonderful piece of machinery. Despite it´s original purpose.
Quand le Roi passe , on le prend en photos et ont le saluent ! 🐅 Merci au musée de Saumur.
👍
Awesome! .. I have a Tamiya 1/35 Tiger 2 right in front of me (Ardennes)
Right on, I have two 1/35 Tiger 2s on my display case, one dragon and one Tamiya, Their both nice kits
Oh man that driving left some damage....
Very cool restoration. Tiger II would have been an absolute fearsome tank to encounter on the battlefield.
Nein, stimmt so nicht, er war eine Furchteinflössende Erscheinung, und jeder der sich mit dem "Tiger" anlegte, zog in der Regel den kürzeren.
Did it reach Antwerp this time?
Great effort!
The way that engine sounded, I dont think it could make it down the street.
@@jamesellis4664 The engine sounds beautifully...What you rattling about anyways..
That’s one big beautiful bastard!
I would love to see that King Tiger roll up to visit its brother that the Peiper Group left further up the road in Le Glieze (?).
No… Captured in Normandie in France 1944 … its full origine … Propriéty muséum Saumur in France … 88 mm
Canon of gleize. Mixée 75 and 88
I like the snap, crackle and pop of the exhaust.
Yeh I Kan here the bones ground down 😮😢
Nice to see this big beast still running.
Friggin Awesome!!!👏
Joachim Peiper the commander of the German Spearhead in the Ardennes disliked the Tiger 2. He considered them too slow and cumbersome for his mission.
Yeah he blamed the Tigers for his rough advance. He and maybe other officers also blamed the Volksgrenadier clogging up the road. Then when the Amercian pissed him off he just straight up executed US POW. Never this man fault obviously.

Beautiful behemoth!
Awesome preservation!
Imagine what the allies were thinking when they heard that machine coming down the road.
They thought it was another easy win
Pretty cool, the King Tiger has its own sound effects of distant gun fire when it backfires.
Badass lots of history there !! Thing gives me goose bumps -such a beast
They were right in naming this the KING Tiger.
Mein Gott - Es ist... Wunderbar!

RESPEKT!
What an absolute monster
It's massive!😲
Now I know why I mostly built just WW2 German tanks models as a kid.
would love to see this tank in a movie!
It was in the movie La Neige et le Feu.
Listen to that old girl purr what a beauty!
Mega cooles Teil..... Starke Performance
That maybach is fighting for its life.
lots of unburnt fuel in the exhaust.
The backfire is sweet!
Not quite ready for battle, but very cool. 😎
A Beautiful Beast :)
Amazing as usual!!!
That was f-ing awsome to bad there are not more out there in this condition running and I do believe it would have made a big difference if more where produced and the bugs worked out just like the jadgetiger and jadgepanther
Wouldn’t have made a difference with it’s weight crossing bridges and fuel consumption

flames from a King Tiger - the good kind of flames I might add
Awesome.
Magnificent!
Saw this in samure and it is a monster!
Epic, what a beast
Best job I ever had😅
Awesome, but rough on the gear changes.
Hermosa máquina de guerra,en cuantos combates se habrá batido
So cool! 😍

magnificent beast
Pure steel love ❤
Ruddy Nora what beast!
Que maravilhoso e histórico veículo da segunda guerra. Fascinante!
It really is a beautiful and menacing sight to see.
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin' 🇦🇺👌
Magnificent beast!
Could you imagine being in a Sherman and seeing this thing approaching, yike
Daaammmnnnn
It would've been awesome to see dozens of these on the move.
Wow! That’s cool.
France and Poland nervously watch from afar. 😅
Exciting stuff. Thank you to all concerned. Reviving history.
Glad you enjoyed it

Can you imagine a remake Battle of the Bulge with authentic Tiger ll and Panthers and a host of other real German Equipment.
I can't imagine, I do a mud road sometimes used by a single tractor and the mud can be ankle deep. Now add 400 000 men.
I would like to see them rotate the turret.
Hi apologies which museum was this at please ? kind regards
It was at the Bastogne Barracks.
@@WalkingwithPanzers Many thanks
Hail to the Panzer god!!
Beauty
German uniforms would have been a nice touch.
Were they always that noisy? This old boy sure sounds like he needs a good tune up. I'd have loved to have been there.
Wait is that the La Gleize King Tiger?
I wish the crews would wear prototypical WW2 panzer uniforms.
wow!!
is it the original 88, or a 75?
88 …full origine …. Captured off battle of Normandie 1944
Propriéty Museun of Saumur in France
The Engine is in a terrible condition. 😢
Allies would have heard king tigers in antwerp but the panzers didnt make it in person.
I wonder if the engine backfires were present in WW2, or does it come with age??
They were the German engines were notorious for them, that's why later models had dempers on the exhaust pipes.
Is the backlash between turret and hull normal ? Is it possible see when the tank is turning.
If its not travel locked (turret, gun and such) then its quite normal for it to move a bit as its a lot of mass thats moving around
God I love this tank so much. I wish I could ride on it one day. It's literally my most favorite WW2 tank ever
and anyone should care why?
Mine too!
And Yet it didnt get more Attention and the same Applies to Saumur Tiger 2 no. 233. because Tiger 131 is the originally running piece of Machine
Wow
Always wondered why the guys in these machines never go full larp with uniforms and such?
Maybe they don’t want to wear SS uniforms
@@TheModelGuy I believe at least 11 Heer units fielded King Tigers.
Because they'll only ruin the uniforms when they have to get out and fix it.....
Driving a Nazi vehicle is bad enough.
Also museum don't want their personel to wear German stuff.
