I've been a huge fan for a long time, and I really appreciate how open and vulnerable you are with us. I don’t usually think my opinion holds much weight, but because you've always been genuine with your audience, I’d like to share something honestly. I adore you, your family, and everything about your channel, which makes this a bit harder to say: recently, my enthusiasm has waned a bit.
It seems clear-and you just confirmed that in this video-that you aren’t having as much fun as you once did, and I find it hard to fully enjoy the content when I sense that the creator’s heart isn’t in it. I know many of us have noticed this shift and have even offered suggestions or shared our worries because we truly want to see you thriving. I understand that feedback can sometimes feel overwhelming or miss the mark, but please know it comes from a place of genuine care.
For some context, the last five years were very tough for me-losing my dad and mother-in-law, facing unemployment, and struggling with depression. During that time, TH-cam was a vital escape. I’m happy to share that I’m in a much better place now and have a job, and I continue to support you because I care about what you do.
Thank you for always being honest with us. I hope sharing my perspective can help in some way, just as your openness has helped me in the past. ❤‍🩹

Hey Bricksie, regarding the opening the studio I had a thought and this will be in the future i think. One of the things you will find when your kids get older is there is a huge market for kids parties and places to have them. It is huge business here in Ontario and im sure it is there as well. You would need more space but maybe if an adjacent unit opens up you could add it then have a kids party place there. Having a Lego kids party would be a money maker for sure. The nice thing is they are not open to the public and you control when they open for parties and such...and if its attached maybe have the party where they build a set, eat cake etc. and then take a tour of your city. Parents would book that in a second as a party! I would have killed to have something like that when my kids were still young. Just an idea to keep in the back pocket for the future if it ever come to it.

It's a thing hey? Making your hobby or passion into a livelihood and suddenly it's a job... once upon a time I could have pursued original music as a livelihood...nearly did...but life got in the way and I went in a different direction. But lately, I've been making music and putting it on youtube...yeah, some of it's pretty average, but I'm getting better and thoroughly enjoying it. It's actually stealing time from my lego layout 😂 - but if I had to constantly rehearse and plan gigs and feel the pressure of 'releases', especially in this current high-pace world...yeah nah...
You've found a fantastic balance Bricksie...keep the passion...keep the fire alive!

I think the notion of turning lego into your hobby again is just a simple mindset shift. Instead of thinking of it as "I have to go to work, I have to film this, I have to build this..", reframe the way of thinking into "I GET to build this, I get to film this for my hundreds of thousands of followers, I GET to...". This has changed my perspective on the things that I use to dread because my head was down all the time focusing on the task in front of me and it just felt like a grind. But now when I actually frame my mindset into thinking "I get to do these things", those things I use to dread ended up being fun for me again

Dude I know you looked into this before and say your end game is where your at with the studio but what about moving house to somewhere with a barn or multiple outbuildings? Easy to say but it would solve the travel and family issues. Before the kids get too old and make friends it could be an option to relocate.

Would you consider turning the medieval table into a Renaissance Fair, linking it to Lego City? I think it would be fantastic! You could have knights jousting, create a perfect place for castles, and add stalls for vendors like those at a fair. Additionally, there could be seating and stages for entertainment, as well as a nice outdoor restaurant area serving food, including giant turkey legs. Whatever you create will be amazing, and I will be watching!

If you want to estimate the value of your collection, count the sets in one room, multiply that number by $500, then estimate each room's size (bigger, smaller) and add them to the final result. Then add one-third of that result more on top, to represent your loose part collection. I'd guess you'd be past a half-mil, easy.

@Bricksie Love the content, and love the fact that the Bricksie family is engaged in this venture. 2 questions, the first one is two fold. How do you insure your Lego collection (did you get it appraised, or a blanket cost through your insurance)? Regarding your previous city to now, you used to have flying sets over the city, any intention of putting them back into the studio city?

I think fewer videos a month would be beneficial in the long run. With busy schedule, it's hard to keep up with daily uploads. So when I see your vids in my recommended, I will sometimes get discouraged that I missed like 2 weeks worth of videos and that will lead me to skip the vid.
For the financial aspect of youtube, I don't know if more views with less videos would be as financially sustainable as more videos with fewer views. That would be for you to analyze
But by cutting back, i would definitly watch all the videos even if they're significantly longer.
Keep up the good work man, love your content !

One thing you could do, is not necessarily open to public per say but have a raffle or draw system, select up to 10 users randomly, give them a plus 2 or whatever the size of family/friends, and once selected there would be a specific day dedicated to a private tour, Q&A, garage sale type of deal. This is something that could be done quarterly or maybe just once to 2 times per year, make sure the day is advertised well ahead of time so the viewers have adequate time to make arrangements (time off work, travel, etc). You could make a video or live stream the event. Just a suggestion.

Easiest thing you can do that will immediately boost your videos are shorter videos. Somewhere in the 10 minute range and better thumbnails. Probably instant boost to views. Making a 30 min video is competing with being longer than a full length episode of a tv show. If I’m going to listen to you for 30 minutes I need to be driving my car or have headphones in and not watching. At that point you mine as well just make a podcast.

As someone who builds majority of their own builds these are my thoughts. I know that you're a Lan member so you have to show off the Lego sets and push them as part of the lego contract but Lego gets more fun when you start building things exactly the way you want them to be for your city style with your individuality. Lets be honest if you only do modulars anybody could come and reproduce your exact City just by going and buying sets off the shelf. Having mocs or your own creations guarantees you have a city that other people wont and lego fans will appreciate it more. Just my opinion. You do have an amazing city though i can not hate.

Hey Jordan. In regards to the drive into work, ever thought about maybe moving your house perhaps out of town maybe north of the city a bit and getting some land that would allow you to have your home, but then BUILD (or perhaps one is already built) sort of big insulated'/heated etc workshop on the property that would house your studio? This would then allow you to not have your drive but still sort of have a "commute" aka a walk to the workshop, to film etc. I know my uncle lives north of Edmonton and has quite a bit of land with a few buildings for his company on the same property as his home.

Hey Bricksie, have you considered using the TH-cam polling/voting feature I’ve seen others use to get viewers’ input on what areas of the LEGO city they’d like you to focus on a weekly basis? I understand and respect that you like to follow your own plans and you like to change up things which is cool. But maybe thinking of 4-5 things you would like to work on that week and putting it to a vote could help at least gauge your community’s interest. And you don’t have to 100% stick to what the community picks. Just a thought, it could be a useful tool. Keep up the good work! Love the content.

Depending on how much space you have along the walls, I would love to see some kind of facades in the background overlooking the city. You could have some kind of rolling hills on one wall, a city skyline on another, maybe some mountain. It would be a different challenge trying to create somewhat 2D facades but i think it would add so much character to the room as a whole, and could be so impressive to see in the background of the city as well.

Don't worry so much about focusing on individual places. I mean the mountain terrain is some of my favorite content, but I understand that will take years to be "complete" whatever than means even.

Have you considered applying to Guinness world records on the largest number of pieces used in a Lego build? You must be in the millions of parts used once completed. 🤔

i think you are way underestimating the value of your collection, i have my collection logged on rebrickable and have 470 sets most of which from the last 6 years with about 350,000 parts and the estimated value is 99000CAD so your collection must be worth a lot more with all your old rare sets.

Ever thought about buying a location next to the studio & use that as the retail store?

Fantastic 'overall' update both professionally and personally. You and the family are squared away with your health and finances tracking up and to the right! WIN WIN for you and its a joy seeing and hearing about all that is good and going well. I love hearing you will return to having LEGO being more hobby focused then work centric. The channels are something I look forward to everyday! Be safe and well.

I've often wondered when watching M&R if Ryan had some fireproof safes or anything to protect the really rare items in a collection. Do you have anything set up where you keep the things you value most so an unforseen disaster doesn't completely destroy everything?
The business side of creating a public viewing space is a very good point. I can also see that in any decision to bring in a couple of ppl to maybe take some of the tedious technical stuff off your plate in order to let you concentrate on having it become a hobby again. Like having a 2 or 3 man crew who do the filming, the editing, helping with thumbnails or who handles the packaging for whatnot sales.
I do have one minor question and it goes to the views/subscribers staying steady but not growing. I've heard other content creators talk about TH-cam providing advisors and some of them really pushing short form videos and even TH-cam shorts. Have you found that there is a push to produce more of those to grow the audience?
Loved the episode and the look behind the curtain. Keep up the good work.

I think you need more evergreen content. Something similar to the largest 10 lego sets ever. That's actually how I found your channel. Think about these videos which which you do not need to spend any time building:
    - Best modular building
    - Full Millennium falcon collection
    - Top 10 bricklink designer sets
    - Best Lego set of the year
    - Top 10 disney sets
    - Speed build the entire zoo
After doing these 'evergreen' videos - take a day off, and let them marinate.
You have all of these sets built that you can compare against each other, and people will view these videos for years. I know you do what you like doing rather than what always gets views, but that's just an idea. Obviously it's more time editing than building.
