- Deep beneath the surface of Southern Cross Isle, a mysterious organization known as the Glittering Crux Brigade frequently gathers in their underground fortress. The group is particularly interested in "Cybodies," stone giants which can transform into massive fighting humanoids but only in a realm known as "Zero Time." By finding and shattering the seals of the island's four seal maidens, Glittering Crux hopes to break free of Zero Time and use the Cybodies anywhere they please. One night, a young man named Takuto Tsunashi washes up on the island's shore and is rescued by Sugata Shindou and his fiancée Wako Agemaki, one of the island's seal maidens. After he awakens, Takuto quickly befriends the two and proceeds to enroll at the local academy, where many of his fellow students are secretly members of Glittering Crux.

The first episode of Star Driver was probably the most expensive looking first episode I've ever seen and I thought Eureka Seven looked beautiful. Can't imagine how many keyframes it took to animate ep 1 lol
What do you expect both are from Bones! However I think the most expensive 1st episode goes to kekkai sensen or soul eater

The animation is really good as well as the story when I watched it as a kid but when I rewatched it like last year the story was all over the place in the series but I can't say the same for the compilation movie ver tho I haven't watched that yet I really hope there would be some explanation to the background or reason of the story

I just found out the voice actor of Takuto was the same guy that voiced for Light from Death Note, & Sugata's was Lelouch from Code Geass, we even had stacked voice actors behind this show, Wako's voice actor is the voice actor for Yor Forger & Shinobu from Demon Slayer in today's time, her most notable character being Yukino from Oregairu

Imagine whenever Tauburn dodges attacks he just pirouettes outta the way.
His final attack would either be the Tau Missile (with Takuto punching for dynamic kill) or his Piles All-Out Shooting during the Samekh finale.
The issue is how to incorporate the fights. Remember, only all relevant people are dragged into this alternate closed space. At best, this would be an augmented Zeorymer situation where it's busted enough to handle it's own series-specific enemies alone. Unless there is some other series that has tech to counter the time stop effect imposed by star driver battles, Takuto is fighting solo until the last boss where maybe the other series can join in but it's a timed stage for obvious story reasons.
@@nicodalusong149 i mean not really correct tho at the end of the movie it is shown that because of the result of what happened in the series and the movie the seals where broken and they can manifest their cybodies in real time

I need to rewatched this anime. I giggle every time I hear Galactic Pretty Boy🤣
I want to point out that his Grandfather KNEW what would happen. "Just smash the Golden Mask of Lies, Right Grandpa?" This means his grandfather knew about the cybodies as well as the masks used to make them move. The anime already reveals who his Father is so it even basically reveals where his father gets his info on the cybodies. HOWEVER that then leaves the plot hole of how did the grandfather know and HOW MUCH DID HE KNOW?
tbh, the lack of explanation is one of the things I love about the show. Sure we get vague backstory through the first maiden and the school play, but nothing else.
He was the previous user of tauburn before the mc inherit it from him after getting that scar on his chest because of the 'fly' dream of his friend that he want to try.
So of course he know about cybody, i bet he know more than others and the mc father, and i feels that with how grandfather talked about how nice this island is to mc, he used to come to this island and the same school takuto go to in his younger days, maybe tsunashi family come into being in this island too and gradually die out or moved out of the island and barely there any people that has their bloodline who know about their family backgrounds.
The wako grandmother also talks like she know and aware about tauburn and their user duty. It implied that maybe she and the grandfather know each other.
It not really duty, but their composition? I don't know the correct word for it, it should be those who fight to protect others or the weak, that also the reason why the mc father cannot get to inherit the tauburn.
If star driver was released in 2016 or 2019 it would be hella popular

i watched this show in India when i was in 10th,i still don't understand what was this anime about , but i loved it.

Modern good-animated anime? There's plenty. WIT, Khara, Gainax, Ufotable and even more are still releasing beautifully-animated anime nowadays. Perhaps you only give attention to new trash isekai anime and didn't realize how many greatly-animated anime is getting released out there and start crying about "anime is deteriorating because the modern anime animation is bad" and stuff like that. It's simply not true.

He didn't, from what I remember they are using a some sort of machine to control those galactic robots called cybody in other dimension, an easy example would a person/player playing video game with his avatar with a use of gaming console. unlike the protagonist where he can summon and mount on it with his will in accordance to their family history. He's most likely to get hurt physically once he loses a battle.
