I love how the Zoo stands up for how they do their job. Anyone who thinks the Zoo staff would let any harm come to ANY of their animals doesn’t understand what being a Zoo Keeper means and needs to watch more episodes.

You are absolutely right! Fiona will always be special… she fought so hard to survive from the beginning. It is hard to watch the bond she has with Bibi have some distance now but that is part of growing up. We all love Fiona but her bond with her keepers is far stronger and they will always do what is best for her!
Please people, the exceptional keepers at this zoo know what they're doing. Trust them & the hippos. They know how to raise & protect their young.
Thank you for reminding us of how hippo moms in the wild behave, and that what we are seeing is very natural. You all are certainly doing a great job!

I love Fiona and Bibi. And baby Fritz is so cute!!! I watched Fionas fight for life during her Intensive Care stage. So much love for all the humans who went above and beyond,because of their love and care, Fiona survived at least 3 times I saw it could of gone either way!!! Fiona is a true inspirational story of being born extraordinarily premature and yet now thriving! It is so awesome she is still with us 5 1/2 years later!
They are all so precious! I hope that Fiona and Fritz will play together one day.
The hippo keepers absolutely rock! This bloat is in fantastic hands and no one should have any worries whatsoever as the keepers have the expertise to handle this transitional period. We all love these hippos SO much! What a fantastic educational experience for us all💖💖💖
Like Jenna is explaining. This is perfectly normal. The fact that they're in a control environment ( a Zoo enclosure ) doesn't mean that they will not act differently. It's a natural behavior, Bibi is as protective of Fritz as she would have been if Fiona would has not been born prematurely and raised by the keepers instead of her mother. The Zoo is handling things with the best knowledge

Great job. I think folks just got so enamored of Fiona that she became the special one, while Bibi is responsible for caring for all her calves equally and according to hippo protocol. Fiona, by necessity, got wrapped up in human/hippo protocol, and folks are used to that. But it sounds like the staff there have everything under control. Thanks for the update.
It's hilarious to me that people who are not zoologists , are contacting the zoo thinking they know what is better for the Hippos. 🤣 Obviously the Hippo knows how to raise a Hippo.

I'm living in Europe (Germany) -so I don`t know if I'll ever be able to visit your zoo. But if I ever come to America, Cincinnati Zoo is definitely at the top of the list of places to visit. I'd come to love Fiona and Fritz, Bibi and Tucker very, very much. And I want to say a great compliment and a great thank you for the fabulous work you, the caretakers, do. I can see how good the Hippos are feeling when they're interacting (a little quarrel here and there surely is absolutely natural) and how much they enjoy your cuddles. It's so much fun , for us watchers as well as for the Hippos , when you feed them their salad. I think their enormous "mouth" is a kind of combined organ for feeling , tasting the other hippos. All in all and again: I`m very grateful for the fantastic caretaking you're doing to give this Hippo family a life worth living. Sure all the caretakers of the other animals are just as good and devoted -and I'm a very big fan of sweet porcupine Rico. Is he still doing well, too?

I know you all love them more than all of us. I saw how Fiona was introduced to her Mom, when she opened her mouth fir her I knew it was fine. That is a very peaceful family. They are all being watched carefully.
People don't like to see animals fight, but come on people. Hippos can take alot of superficial damage with no problem.

But take in to consideration that working a camera is not
their real job. Their real job is for caring for the bloat!

Hello, I just binge watched everything Fiona! I have a question. I know she is still young, will she grow to be her mother's size? Or because she was premature, will she be smaller? I know most times (but not in all cases) you can't tell when humans adults were born prematurely. Thank you so much for including us in Fiona's journey!
Fiona will always be a small hippo because she was born premature and never reach her mothers side. She is most likely not grow much bigger then she currently is but you never know!

The idea that the keepers don't know what they are doing but the public does? Ludicrous. Amateur panic is nauseating.
I don’t think people are accusing the keepers of neglect. Fiona is just sooo loved by all that people naturally worry and feel bad that she can’t be close to her mom like before. It will all work out. Bebe and Fiona have a great bond but Bibi has to look out for Fritz just like she did Fiona when she was little. I can’t wait to see Fiona and Fritz cuddling and playing!
