Good job ! I’m a big fan of keeping the classic radios alive . I just had a Yaesu FT101E refurbished. I’ll be picking it up in two days and I can’t wait to get it on the air .
Came out pretty good myself I run a 1983 cobra 2000. I sent it out. I wanted it recap. My tech told me the caps are not bad do not replace them. The ones from China are not worth a damn. I had it professionally aligned in tune the old radios get it on. he also made a video of it going through the radio. it’s out here on TH-cam .73 my friend.
nice old rig.. ya the skip kinda dead here too, Lk Texoma area. just a little bit on lsb 38 like u had, but real weak. although sometimes Jamaica comes in pretty strong. need the skip to come back! ☮
Congrats, you've got a nice keeper there. Just in case you'ld like to know, that one has the same exact board as the Cobra 142gtl, a Craig L-232 and certain Tram bsae rig which I forgot the model. 73....
I lucked out on this one. It performs great and it looks like it sat in storage for years, probably in someone's garage where it got wet. The meter still looks new with no fading of paint on the face plate. 73s from 595 Northern Nevada!
Congratulations on recovering this radio. Now I am going to have to get a CB radio and see if I can get over the Hill and say hi! Happy Summer!
