Curious as to how the Beckwith Covert compares to the Tops California Cobra and the Skallywag MDV Plus One. Perhaps a comparison video in the near future? Awesome content, thanks!

Much appreciated, my friend! I have a California cobra. I just haven’t found a way to carry it that has worked overtime. I’m getting to where I don’t want to feel it when I carry it. This is a great idea for a video.

Excellent video review. What would be a budget version of this knife 🔪 🤔???

The top saw is a really good one. Absolutely it’s more bulky, but it still carries very very well in the pocket or horizontally.

I really do appreciate your videos, especially the budget knives as I am on a strict budget, so like this covert knife is out of my price range right now, but I continue to watch your budget buy knives videos and I have actually bought a few plus one you didn't mention, it's a smaller Ozark trail fixed blade, it doesn't have the thumb slot you like, but I can deal with it, especially for the price of six bucks.

That would be some crazy hand-to-hand combat with a knife that short. I would really think twice about using it for self-defense. There’s a reason most combat blades are at least 6 inches long.

This is more of a “get off me”type of blade for every dayl carry. Definitely short though. Good for concealment and maybe even a good last ditch.

@@411Outdoors This just made me think of the recent case, WI v. Nicolae Miu. It does prove your point and wouldn’t be a bad topic for a future video. I personally feel he was wrongly convicted of stabbing the four teens.

I have been interested in this knife since it was introduced and at the same time it has sent me down a rabbit hole in trying to find a better priced one with the similar design.
I haven't found anything close yet

The Covert is at the top of the "if only" list. It's one of those that you look at it, and you just know how it should be used. Like a TKell "Agent" series. Designed by somebody who knows what they're doing, when it comes to martial knife use.

    Hi Daniel.
I am expecting my Covert this Wednesday.
    Can’t wait.
It will be taking the place of my Gerber strong Arm which was definitely clumsy to carry in my front right.
I want you to know in an email to Chas Fisher I explicitly gave you as the reason for my purchase.
    As always,
    Best regards.
    Stuart

I hope you understand that when I say that I can't afford something, I don't mean that statement as a complaint. I still like learning about things. Life just doesn't always make certain purchases a good idea.

So, I really like this blade. First off I live in Los Angeles County, California. County law states that you can carry a 3" fixed blade knife off of the belt. Now I don't know what restrictions each individual city has. So blade length is a check. I would have to get a new sheath made as that in the pocket sheath is not going to fly. Also, I might just have the grips changed to some kind of custom laminate colors like a coral snake. Also the blade cannot be concealed and must be exposed. So, why not make it loud for both the criminal without and with a badge out here. Never trust that the badge carrier is going tell the truth! Anyway, this blade really seems to fit the bill for what I would want it for.
Just a few days ago a man in Beverly Hills was out carrying his child and apparently got attacked by a lone man. The man with the baby was packing heat and apparently stabbed the attacker or slashed him, I don't know which and unfortunatly for the attacker he is now deceased. Moral of the story is that stupid crap can happen anywhere and its better to be prepared than not. And while I advocate always for a person to do their upmost to avoid a conflict, sometimes it is just not possible and it is better to come out on top of the confrontation than to be on the bottom. The only reason I have not bought this blade yet is because of the price. It is great to know that a trainer is now available.

Check out the MDV+1 from skallywag tactical. Similar style. Purpose built self defense knife. It’s $150 and has a trainer available.
