Ah yes! My all time favorite, the ol' Porter Sea Hawk! Hard, if not impossible to find these days. Bout the closest thing now-a-days is the Got-Chas, Tsunami Ziggers...none of which I've ever fished, tho I have a few. I still have a couple ollld Sea Hawks from the early 70's. (Next time I see ya I'll show you the 'trout killer' clothes pin lures my grandfather use to make.)
Hey cool informative video they are basically a different type of buck tail. The surf fishermen always throw them off the beaches for blues and Stripers around here.
I'll use them for everything, and have. Never had any success here with buck-tails like they do in the north. We have loads of ''glass or rain''' minnows and the small Gotcha's imitate them very well.
My dad never had a lot of money but always had a boat. His 18 foot boat did great running to all the flags 20-30 miles offshore ands crowded with 3 people and me as a kid. That's why I laugh at all the boats with "8 motors" on the back. My dad did pier fishing too. He used balloons to get the baits out to deeper water jerk the balloon and let the bait drop. My dad doesn't do much fishing now. His health is declining. Great history and tips on the artificial baits. Thanks
Grew up throwing Coast Hawks to Snook on a doubled over fiberglass rod with a Roddy Spinner. That's how I learned to love casting reels. I remember Larry Dahlberg explaining how to make your own on his forum, back when men talked on forums.......
I've been throwing gotcha plugs all my life, and I have caught just about everything in saltwater on them. Before the manufacturing of them got sent to China, they were built about 5 miles up the road from me at Sea Striker. Old lures still catch fish👍
If dey catch da blues skippa i'm all in.!!!!!! Seriously Capt Dave on a scale from 1 to 10 how much do you think color plays into the effectiveness of a lure? I realize it's a question painted with a broad brush because of different factors such as water clarity and species things like that but overall 1- 10 where does it stand with you?
well with these...I'm all in for getting noticed! since these simulate a darting around glass minnow to me. So I'll say a ''8'' . I think the chrome one would do better than one that's ''matt black'', overall. DA' GREEN SCOURGE FISH...ALL IN FOR FREE BIG REDFISH CUT BAIT🦨: th-cam.com/video/scg7QsKDUdw/w-d-xo.html

no need for 8 motors now.....Merc introduced their one V-12 600hp, so now 'penis extenders' only need 4 motors! 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Mighty white of you to mention Long Island gracias

Hey capt. Great 👍 vidio love seeing old school baits. Do you ever use 4 to 6 inch gliders or stick baits

And like a DOA shrimp, they've been ''knocked-off'' hard. But it seems this is one simple & effective bait that's been that way since the beginning.
Back in the day lures.
I like to take both trebs off and replace the back hook with a single hook
