  • Teaching your puppy to jump is useful if you plan on doing competitive obedience, protection sports, and just to have fun with your dog. Doing it right is imperative. Many puppies sustain long lasting injuries by jumping too high, too early. In this lesson I address what you need to do to keep your puppy safe and how to teach your puppy to jump in a very fun way.
This lesson is part of my series with Siggy, the young Belgian Malinois. We follow Siggy along week after week, lesson after lesson as he learns my program.

The only man on TH-cam that has a neck like a Doberman and a face like a German shepherd with more understanding than the majority of people making videos on TH-cam.

Mali's are great jumpers but I am biased towards the Border Collie. I use "Hup" as the command as well. Loved watching this. You are right , the jump must extend. Next the weave... yay : ) . I think during the Tug bit he may have needed a pee as he was sniffing a lot. Just a thought . The full video really made me smile : ) Agility would really suit this dog. Thank you.

I wanna teach my dog to jump stuff, but I see her looking at a yard fence like oh ya I can jump that. So what do you do about that effect of jump training?

If my 9 month old puppy has knees and elbows 14" above the ground, should he be jumping 14"?

I’m training my 5th agility Airedale. Just a suggestion... I wouldn’t teach my pup to back-jump! I did that with one of my dogs. And as an adult in competition, she often back-jumped instead of doing a tight wrap around the jump wing, causing us to disqualify.

In obedience it’s critical. I don’t do agility but good info.

What should I do if my puppy continously bites me really hard when training outside. I've got an Afghan kuchi. I usually tie him to a tree with a long line and go away if he bites. Like timeouts.

My name is Ahmed from the Arab country. I have a question. What is the dog’s favorite food or is it suitable for him? The dog’s age is 6 months

Depends what is available. Look for high meat content. Low carbohydrate.

It’s always said trainer must be smarter than the dog. Great job.
