- Thanks for watching Moto Mouth Moshe Episode #33, which is a functional overview and durability report on the Shoei #Neotec Modular Helmet. This helmet was tested for a review in the July/August 2017 issue of On The Level magazine which you can download here mklsportster.c...
Some background on me: Over the past two decades, I’ve ridden hundreds of thousands of miles in multiple countries, tested hundreds of products, and published countless reviews in national motorcycle magazines like Motorcycle Consumer News, BMW Owner's News, Thunder Press, Rider, and many others. Now I want to share what I’ve learned with you. We’re going to examine new products, as well as revisit some previously tested gear to see how it’s held up under abuse. Motorcycle jackets, motorcycle pants, motorcycle boots, motorcycle gloves, motorcycle glasses, motorcycle helmets, action cameras, motorcycle exhaust systems, radar detectors, rain suits, motorcycle tank bags, aftermarket seats, motorcycle windshields, aux lights, and much more. We'll also cover other motorcycle topics like technical instructions, modifications, and safety tips.

I have a multitec that hits 5 yrs next year, this will be my next helmet.
My wife gave me a Neotech for my birthday last year. Started wearing it this spring for a couple of long distance rallies and unfortunately, I now have a permanent hair loss right at the front of my hairline due to a pressure point. Otherwise, the helmet is great. Low noise. Pinlock shield. Good Ventilation. Too bad I can no longer wear it.
Wow. Perhaps it wasn't a good fit to begin with? Anything that gives you that kind of pressure point CAN'T be a good fit, right?
Moshe, with the 2018 RT's irregular shape handle bars (w/o risers) what/how would you suggest best way to mount a USB receptible within the cockpit area? The DIN receptible, in my mind, is too far to the side and therefore not exactly suitable to extending a USB cable for charging a phone...Thanks!
I’d say if your goal is to charge a phone, ditch the wire altogether. See th-cam.com/video/m_z6eEst4o0/w-d-xo.html
Good video but my concern is noise, the main reason I have never had a modular. That big release in front looks like a huge noise maker. How was the noise level?
I thought the noise level was quite good for a modular. Caveat: I wear ear plugs when riding, and my main daily ride is a BMW R1200RT with a big fairing, so I'm not getting blasted all day long. On my naked bikes I thought the Shoei was quite good in the noise department for a modular.
Both my wife and I have Neotec helmets and worn them since mid-'12. The feature I use most is the integrated sun shade and I was surprised to see no mention of this feature and use of sunglasses during the review. Was there any particular reason why this feature was not addressed? Otherwise, it was a great review, thanks!
Dave, did you watch this? The sun shade is clearly demonstrated. I like that it was demonstrated over sunglasses because I have had helmets that did not allow the sun shade to be lowered over glasses.
Hi Dave- I did show the sunshade actuation. Start watching at the 2:20 mark.
I notice you are first i have seen with a Sena 10C. I also use a 10C. Any issue with camera mounting and speaker mounting? This may be my next helmet purchase. Thanks
MemphisMike no issues at all. Neotec is about to be replaced with Neotec II.
Moto Mouth Moshe Hmmm. Maybe I should wait on my purchase! Thanks for response
MemphisMike yeah or get an awesome deal on a leftover Neotec.
Moto Mouth Moshe Curious if any changes made possibly?
Moto Mouth Moshe Just picked one up. $549. Was told Neotec 2 appears could be some issues mounting 10C.
