Not necessarily because if there are less resellers, it'll be harder to buy a retired set. At the same time, if there's less supply on the aftermarket, this could drive the prices higher. I've bought multiple retired sets from resellers for my personal collection even though they were expensive so I don't see what's the problem with them.

@@RandoComandoStudios No one is forcing you to buy old sets. You can always buy new sets. If there didn't exist a market of old retired sets there would not be any way to get them once Lego stops producing them. I don't understand why this is a bad thing. The fact that I can still go buy an old modular building set that I missed out on, even though it's more expensive, is a positive thing to me. Otherwise I would need to find used ones and people would not give up theirs for cheap because there would be a lot of people like me who want them so once they post a listing they would be getting many offers paying more and more for it.

You’re right, definitely seems weird to buy lego with the sole intention of making money off it, although it works, I wish it didn’t. Collecting them on the other hand is pretty fun, I buy a lot of sets and leave them sealed (many that are pretty old now) with no intention of reselling. Mostly because of nostalgia but I also hope to open and build these sets later in life with my children or leave them for display.

It can be both though. Usually what I'll do is purchase a few of them for resale and keep one of them for my personal collection. I've done that with the Boarding the Tantive IV set. That way, eventually I can sell the other sets to pay off the one I purchased for my personal collection. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. What causes the price to automatically be inflated is when people by a dozen + of the same set.

I will totally invest in the Rex micro fighter. I am mostly just colleting Lego sets that I like and don't want to miss out on.
You know, all investments come with risks and when it comes to Lego I think it's very important to realize that Lego can remake an old set or do whatever they want at any point. That is just a risk you take. And I think that's what investing is all about, taking risks, some higher some lower.
I think it's great that we are able to get minifigures that are hard to get otherwise.
