I'm hoping that Aventurine will make Yanqing at least useable again. They do synergize pretty well with each other, Yanqing has follow up atks to give Aventurine stacks faster, and Aventurine's shields are so strong that Yanqing can have his soulsteel buff at 100% uptime.
The multipliers aren’t big enough and his follow up attack is not consistent. At best you’ll average 4-6 cycles on ice weak content
@@Saberdud yeah the rng on the follow up atk is kinda annoying on Yanqing. I think it's only 60% at talent lvl 10. tbh they should have made it guaranteed as long as he was in the soulsteel state.

Yanqing was the character i was most excited for when i first started playing the game. I got him day one on the beginner banner on my first try, no rerolls, as my first five star. I couldn't have been happier. He was the first character i leveled to max, he carried me through the early game, and he is absolutely the only chance I had to 3 star Aventurine in MOC, which btw, I did. Yanqing got me to where I am today and despite his flaws, despite all the things he requires to perform, (Massive shields, tons of skill points, Tingyun/Ruan Mei/Some other hypercarry support) I will always stand by him. I skipped Jing Liu because I have Yanqing. I do not regret it at all. Is he easy to use? No. Is he easy to build? No. DOES HE TWO SHOT MOST ENEMIES THAT AREN'T BOSSES? FUCK YEAH HE DOES!!!
Respect to you for sticking with him, I am a Blade main since his release and people nowadays shit on Blade because he isnt on the same level as Jinglu, DHIL etc. but I never will abandon him as my main. One day Blade will get insane 5 stars that synergize so well with him may it be harmony or abundance/preservation units just like how Yanqing got Aventurine now.
@@ken68.Well blade isn't exactly a DPS. Hes best for chip damage(sub dps) really. I have him, I pair him with jingliu cause their a great pairing but man just doesn't have the damage output for an actual dps

I really hope we get a support that increases fixed effect chances for the team, thus making Yanqing consistently land his follow-up. It can also open the option of a perma-freeze team, maybe even running no-sustain, which would be an amazing buff for Potential Man.

Despite of all of this, Yanqing was my first 5* and he carried me along with Seele back in 1.0 MoC. He remained as my DPS until I got Jing Yuan and Clara. After that, he graduated from my teams and never used him again. One thing I could say is that he is a good early game character, he can help new players to progress quite significantly in the story with barely any effort at all.
I mean new players can literally just use 4 stars like xueyi or sushang the game doesnt require us to use a 5 star for everything hell pure fiction's S tier is a 4 star. I used to clear MOCs and SUs with just sushang and danheng back then because i was saving for kafka

Yanqing is so damn important to me, he's not just a character.
Numbers are not important, what is important is enjoying the game.
I jinxed myself saying how I wanted my first standard five star to be Yangquing because I liked his design...but then I saw his involvement in the story and found him to be an annoying child. Now, he spooks me in my 50/50 losses and now I have him at E3. I refuse to use him even though I finally hit the 300 standard wish mark to get Gepard who is now my favorite standard five star character.
Edit: even at launch, I already knew Bailu would become mid because I would find out that debuffs would multiply as the game progressed. The only one who offered cleanse was Natasha and I knew she'd be powercrept when five star healers would be introduced

@@jerryeljeremy7790 he's definitely not as bad as people think. his damage can be high but he needs gepard or aventurine to function. not everyone has these units and even with them he is worse than dr. ratio, who was given out for free and synergizes with many upcoming and current characters.
his eidolons are also terrible, so getting copies of him means nothing unlike other standards such as welt or clara. he might be better in the future with apocalyptic shadow coming in 2.3 but right now he is not worth the investment.
overall, he's just okay.

I honestly think people are overblowing how bad Yanqing really is, putting him in D tier is honestly crazy, I feel like he was always B or AT WORST C tier. He still does good damage and his main issue is just keeping up his sync state. With aventurine now I feel like this is even less of an issue since his shielding is more consistent than Gepard.
On another note I do think Ruan Mei was a great buff to Yanqing and did do a LOT to address issues of enemies hitting him since faster break = easier to freeze the enemies with ice break and the fact that they remain broken for longer gives yanqing more of an opportunity to refreeze.
He isn’t bad, but many four and five stars have better relevancy and generalization in their specialized route

At least with the specific support characters you can still do some solid damage. Some 4 star characters cannot hit the same levels of damage even WITH their optimal teammates.
yanqing, the king of bad eidolon can be, even amongst other five stars standard banner character yanqing eidolon can't be compared with them.
@@inazuma7792 Only his E4 and E6 are really good, and his E6 still is a conditional eidolon with you having to knock out the opponent for the extended buff. Yanqing's eidolons are bad not because they're actually terrible. If they were on a different unit they'd be fine. The issue is that his eidolons don't really do enough to fix his issues.
Crit buffs behind high Ult cost has E2 and E6 to help but 10% energy regen barely changes anything with his rotation unless you get enough of his rng FuAs and E6 requires a knock out.
Speaking of his rng FuAs, his eidolons do nothing to help with that. If he had a eidolon where his chance of landing a FuA was increased like how Gepard's Frozen chance is increased to a base 100% on his skill, that'd be good. But then again the two aren't exactly the same as Yanqing's is fixed while Gepard's is base chance so not the most balanced comparison but you get my point.
And lastly the high skill points consumption and lack of turn advance. For a Hunt unit, Yanqing feels very sluggish to play even when compared to the four stars. He can only rely on his speed and teammates for extra turns/attacks. For example, Sushang has action advance in her base kit and Dan Heng has one from his E4. But Yanqing's eidolons do nothing for him in this aspect. The fact that he has to spam his skill and greatly loses out on damage if not is a big issue too. Another Ice character who benefits from using his skill often is Misha, and he has a skill point regeneration ability tied to his Ultimate to counteract the skill spam.
Despite his rank, I will still use Yanqing especially since he has helped me do much from yhe beginning of the game. I just hope Aventurine helps him out. I really do hope the devs do something about this at least.

Funny thing is he's kind of redeeming himself in the new Aventurine MoC 12 fight, his and Gepard's freeze are invaluable against Aventurine's gamble mechanic
I think the community just hates to use characters that need a shield support because everyone wants to play the game on auto. Arlan and Yanqing just got buffed because of aventurine to negate full damage. And if Yanqing's FUA hits his damage is on par with Jingliu ngl.
Ah yes lemme hope for a 60% fua so that I can deal equal damage to a character that does it consistently

@@lilie4575 jingliu dmg is consistent because nothing can take you out of the enhanced state simply activate and deal your dmg 2-3 turns (which is also quite consistent)
Yangqing relies on a lot of rng:
Dont take any dmg of any form to hp.(Easier said than done,with you relyingon either gepard or aventurine two 5 stars you don't or do have and also dont instantly solve the problem cause if you move to fast in gepards case or get attacked with too many st attacks in aventurines case).
65% FUA chance (which holds a good portion of dmg).
Ult buff also relies on you not getting hit and lasts 1 turn.
Jingliu is not a nuker because most of your times is and should be spent in the enhanced state which lasts a good while yangqing has 1 turn of a massive multiplier that is also heavily rng dependent at that.
Gepard has nothing to do with yangqing being bad and he is not the best pure defense character it's aventurine:
Higher shield due to stacking.
Can refresh off skill and FUA.
And a case can be made that Fu xuan is a better defense character for any team that doesn't include yanqing or arlan.

When I rolled for Jingliu several days ago I've lost my 50/50 to Yanqing and got his 2nd eidolon.
Thank God I had some tries left and got Jingliu right after
I lost Acheron to him. It was well that I was half-heartedly pulling for her, lest I became livid at that time, as I was when I lost Jingliu to Himeko's E1.
Same I also lost Acheron to him, but I got her 11 pulls later so it’s fine

HoYoverse actually did buff character in the past, maybe not in Star Rail but in Genshin they did I bet we all remember the Zhongli incident
i wasn't around at the time but i heard that at the time his shield is barely stronger than Diona's shield, and it resisted geo damage. i also heard that you have to choose between shielding or Pillaring. and worst of all pre buff ZL is interruptable, and with animations that long that's gonna be a pain in the butt to get the shield.
wish they did upgrades for old/outdated kits like other games do along with animation updates
People regarded Yanqing one of the best 5* character must be lacking reading comprehension. He was my first 5* and just by looking the condition for his optimal damage was enough for me to never use him.

Gacha communities never change and it cracks me up :,D Everyone's yapping the same shit ad infinitum as if there's "the best way to play" these games. I just played break teams (along with DoT from Kafka's debut) since the game's launch week without ever caring any of this meta bullshit. Sushang and Xueyi still clear MoC 12 with ease when properly built and supported, although bringing DoT Acheron & Black Swan, F-up e4 Bronya and Critka is pretty fun way to beat new floors too.
If I had Yanqing (the game keeps giving me Bronyas and her light cones....) I'd try F-up permafreeze. A lot of SPD and EHR with the new Penacony relics, SPD based SimUni rope and sphere along with that one Hunt light cone which noone ever uses ("Subscribe for more"?) since Yanqing's ultimate wouldn't contribute much towards freezing enemies anyway.

Aventurine also helps him out quite a bit. With his shield having better uptime and effect res added on, it helps Yanqing keep his buffs up. I don't think it saves him but for any one who wants to give him a shot it's not hopeless.
Aventurine shield is night and day difference.
He's Usable with him
Just gotta pair him with 2 Harmony or, 1 Harmony and 1 debuffer.

Or YQ, SubDPS, Aven and Harmony unit.
I have a team specifically for Yanqing, I call it the don't touch me team, ensuring maximum shield and aggro away from Yanqing, I have better options, but sometimes I prefer using something normal and it's great to have more options for Simulated universe

They'll always be there to Upgrade and Buff your MAIN DPS and the rest of your team whenever you need them, with time, newer stronger DPS will appear, but the Supports will never lose their utility and as more come, each will help your teammates in different ways, so there isn't such a thing as '' Best DPS'' in a gacha game you can easily buy the Damage of a character and win any argument through money since the game will allow you to- or any game in general since everything ends up receiving the power-creep treatment, in time most DPS will be outlived by another, and there will be way too much.
But you know, supports will always be there, far and few alike, but always ready to aid. ''

He only got better because aventurine came out. But he quite literally relies on you having a shielder who are both 5 stars to consistently keep his buffs up. I think that boss mode wont help yanqing and just boost dr ratio even further instead, cos follow up attacks have a lot better supports rn with robin aventurine and jade coming next, and before even thinking about beating ratio he still has jingliu, seele, and boothill to worry about because all of these characters have better synergies with the new supports (seele w monoquantum, JL is just better yanqing, and boothill with harmony MC and ruan mei) so i dont think yanqing is gonna be good again like ever 😭

I doubt anyone will regret it as:
-We have a better free option in the form of ratio for anyone playing till 2.1.
-I doubt unless they make it heavily punished to do AOE attacks (sort of like taking the AOE dmg they will deal) it will make using destruction characters or characters like acheron/jingyuan/argenti who have single target nukes useless.
Yangqing problem isnt that he is a hunt character but simply because his kit is awful:
Multipliers are quite mediocre.
Heavy powerlocked behind an ult with an insane energy cost.
FuA chance is laughable.
Has no out of turn attacks/action forward or speed manipulation (something even sushang has).
He is honestly not just one of the worst 5 stars but worst characters.
He can clear content if invested in but why waste that investment on him
I feel like a single target game mode is still good for destruction characters. Yes yanqing may be good in a hunt focused mode, but expect to see still high usage of destruction characters.
Unless they make blast or aoe attack in that mode heal enemies, like "excessive damage from aoe or blast attack that doesn't hit the boss will heal the boss" then that's the only way they will force you to use hunt in this mode

@@boiledliddo it wouldn't be so bad it his eidolons were even remotely useful. i used him out of pure spite and his E4 resulted in me dealing 1-2k more dmg. welt deals more damage with his E1 on the same build than all of yanqshit's buffs combined. I genuinely don't know how my fairly awful build with 80/120 (more like 170 cdmg with ult and talent buffs) crit ratio and 2.6 atk yanqinq with ruan mei did 20k on skill and barely 60 with his ult.
i hope you get bronyas and himekos instead of suffering like me
@@JustDeka21 the single target is what makes Yanqing really bad for me. Hitting opponents one by one is bad, as compared to Jingliu who mows down three at a time. Already got Himeko, and she helped me do a perfect clear of a previous Pure Fiction.

@@metacactus1410 I disagree, Luocha is still good for what he does and he's just very comfortable to play (SP Positive, has emergency heals and Debuff Dispel, he also has Buff Removal on his Ult and its an AoE. My God I wished I have him, that would've made fighting Aventurine boss so much easier). Fu Xuan didn't get powercrept with Huohuo release, in fact she and Aventurine are the best Sustains in the game.
Huohuo is a fake Abundance, she should've been a Harmony unit tbh 😂 (I'm serious, her only source of heal is her Skill and her ultimate screams Harmony char with the buff. No offense for Huohuo mains, I know she's strong but her kit doesn't scream Abundance to me at all)
@@chimpurinkohimiru8920 well tbf these days alot of the sustain units in these kind of games. need to do more than just healing, shielded or taunting such as buffing(not as much as harmony units) or other means of helping the team i.e cleanses or sh*t like that, i've played turn based games where the healers do more than just heals even the other hoyoverse game does the same sh*t.

I got Yanqing out of my free 5-star from the welcoming pack, used him about twice before realizing his dps was worse than some of my harmony's, then left him to rot.
I got this brat to C2 only pulling on standard, he even brought a Gepard in one of those pulls. I could get Welt, Bronya or Clara, but I got three Yanqings. I don't dislike him because he is bad, I dislike him out of spite.

A new character releases with a kit that is compatible with an old character, making the old character more viable, just look at what happened with Kafka in penacony. I’m surprised you didn’t mention his now best sustain, Aventurine. With Aventurine, Yanqing taking any damage is no longer an issue and this MoC with boss Aven, he counters him incredibly easy.
If this video was in progress before Aventurine’s release then ignore my above message as this video is right. If it was worked post Aven then the 2 pair handsomely together. After using the pair together, I have nothing against Yanqing anymore and would be alright for more copies of him.
Yea all you need it a limtit sustain, need good sp like broya, tinyun,mei, pela :) just be honest all dps good when they have good sp and sustain
It's not like he was taking damage with Gepard before Aventurine came out.

@@tuanphongnguyen54 this MoC I’ve been using YanqingTingyun Pela Aven. I don’t like using bronya with him and this team is pretty comfortable. The only non free unit is Aven so if you want to make an underwhelming unit actually good you just get his most desired sustain to enable his kit to perform well.
@@mgr8719 gepard’s shield was alright but its uptime wasn’t great as for most times, yanqing would act more turns than the shield’s duration.
Aventurine’s shield refreshes constantly so his duration is perfect and him having more than one way to get a shield is a great addition and extra security for Yanqing
I find it weird that there's no mention of Aventurine, the character that can potentially save him. You even showed the picture of Yanqing in a Tier List, with an upwards arrow showing he increased a tier, and that happened precisely because of that (as explained in the tier list's changelog)

Because Jingliu is limited so you have to like Jingliu to get her, if you're not into female characters in gachas you won't have her

But limited characters are supposed to be characters you like, and it's just a fact that in gacha games female characters are designed for the male audience and male characters for the female audience.
I like a bunch of the female characters, especially Sparkle, and I like others in-story but not enough to spend so much limited gacha currency on them. They gotta be more equal. Right now Yanqing and Misha are the only ice DPS options for people pulling mainly for male characters, since both Jingliu and Silver Wolf are expensive limited waifus.
@@ancalyme you made a problem for yourself and are now complaining about that problem (If you play for characters/husbando/waifu collecting you also have to understand that might not relate with meta so you cant really complain about that especially since the game is a yr old) otherwise in like 95% of scenarios misha is a better ice dps than yangqing to answer that question.
(It would not be hard to make an upgrade to yangqing and they already exist as misha)
I don't understand Mihoyo's reluctance on buffing characters, that would fix a lot of problems v1.0 characters have vs the currently released ones (like seele's dmg mods). Games like FGO even lock the buffs behind story content, sure that's not ideal, but it's a good method to incentivize players and it gives a sense of future proofing
Mihoyo does buff characters but only in hi3rd and it’s still pretty rare for them to buff the really old characters. Like bronya HoR and Mei HoT got buffed by of the new signature weapon hoyo gave them and it literally had to change the character’s skill and without the new weapons they are practically useless.
@@stopme5687 buffing by adding a weapon is not really a buff though, just a new gacha weapon (unless they make it free). Its still better than nothing though
Tbf, FGO buffs took years to implement, and even now in NA we don't have all of them.. If Mihoyo, however, decides to follow the same/similar example to FGO and have Interlude/Rank-Up quests for older units, I'm guessing the same amount of time would pass before that's ever even considered. It's possible, yes, but perhaps not for a very long time.
Honestly, downgrade him. He can be the first 3 star character. Also, the whole 4/5 star thing makes no sense now that I think about it.
They could buff 1.0 characters and/or do what FGO does with rank up quests for the upgrade.
But it's gonna be a long time that you need teams to make your low tiers into mid tier
I have him E1, I got him from the Beginner banner and Standard Banner but have never Lost a 50/50 to him. I have lost a 50/50 to Himeko, Welt, Gepard, Clara, Bailu, and Bronya (Bronya's the Only unit I have lost the 50/50 too twice) (She's E2 currently cuz I used 300 selector on her). Throughout all of the pulls I have done in HSR from the SW banner to the Aventurine Banner. (Though I have never lost a 50/50 to Yanqing) Which I don't think will last forever but cool I guess.
Hate him all you want, but you cant deny hes got some very good single target damage capabilities, definitely the best non-linites single target dps we have
I still use Yanqing a lot, he feels pretty good in a Sparkle Bronya Aventurine team. Better than Jing Yuan at least.
I'm the type who only pulls for characters I like, and most of the characters I like are male characters - so I don't have access to Silver Wolf or Jingliu or even Ruan Mei. Designs like Ruan Mei or Black Swan make me uncomfortable. It's unfortunate how much the game gates power behind pulling for limited waifus in a game that markets itself to both. I'm glad they released Aventurine at least and that Dhil was overturned for his time or I'd be in huge trouble (and probably drop the game).
when i first started playing, i really wanted yanqing bc i liked him a lot as a character. and then i got him, made him my main immediately, and then got jing yuan. the moment i did, my yanqing usage decreased significantly, and then i got acheron, lowering the yanqing usage rate to zero.
but i do have to give credit where credit is due - yanqing carried me all throughout early game. he was a good character then, and even with the shittiest of builds (i have no clue on how to build characters in this game tbh) he was still an alright unit.
Yanqing might not be strong per se, but he's a lot more comfortable to use now than he used to be. Aventurine's shield is so thick you can pretty much brute force most fights. For anyone lacking jingliu, he's an acceptable ice dps.

Because if you have ratio and yanqing, then ratio is able to go into a second team with debuffers and still do well. Yanqing 100% needs aventurine to not be absolute dogwater

in hoyoverse, yanqing is even worst than qiqi. qiqi still consider as a solid healer in genshin and can give decent amount of damage for a healer with kokomi artefact. meanwhile yanqing was actually feel like a 4 stars version of jingliu. which is sad because yanqing and jingliu was a 5 stars character
I had him in the 2nd Beta and, even then, I found his damage laughable. The 2 characters I found to be the worst day 1 there, well atleast day 1 when the game came out, were Yanqing and Arlan. And those are to this day the worst 2 in the game. And quite frankly, I am not even sure there is a simple way to fix those two. Their kits just don't work in this game at all, and they are only getting worse over time
