    This would be a terrible model for employees and employers.
    1. There are more startups that need H1B talent than 6-7 MAANG level companies. They cannot even afford 10k for H1B lite. Current expenses are in the range of 6-7K
    2. H1B lite basically states that a BTech engineer from IIT is less important/valuable than MS from USA. I have done MS from USA and I can tell you that it is not the case.
    3. An employer who wants to hire mechanical BTech from IIT probably won't hire because they cannot afford 50K for H1B pro. It would be a lose lose case.
    This model will in fact deny chances for employers and employees to succeed.

    It’s crazy to introduce levels to a temporary visa category such as H1B. Instead eliminate H1B and mandate green card as the only means to work more than 180 days. So, only those who qualify for their green cards from their country of origin can move to US to work more than 180 days. You can have all of the criteria described in the video applied for their green card applications. This then works best for both job seekers in US and international job seekers!

    • @user-hf7kj9dp1f
      @user-hf7kj9dp1f ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good idea cause otherwise some companies can exploit their h1b visa workers since they know the employee can't quit since they don't have their greencard promised.

    My Opinion is why such a competition just because we are Indian born , is someone born in UK can decide to move to US (because he has a Job there) and get his green card in 1 year , what makes Indian born applicant different , why should they require advance phd degrees to get to the same situation as other people
    I really liked the initial proposal of Trump of wage based green card/H1B , sort applications based on wage that companies are willing to pay them and invite them (end of story) . US directly gets benefited from the taxes they would collect and since the salaries are sorted you can pretty much be sure that no company is trying to bring in cheap labour

    • @user-hf7kj9dp1f
      @user-hf7kj9dp1f ปีที่แล้ว

      Very true. Why do we need to qualify all these stringent criterias only for us to wait in line for 10-12 years for a greencard when other countries like Australia or uk and even other less developed countries than india like bangladesh,nepal bhutan get easier access to gc. It's extremely discriminatory and almost racist. It's almost a human rights violation since they have made no reform in h1b visas so that companies can prey and international lawyers and uscis can financially profit from indian visa holders.

    May be another solution is to open up workforce trety with all highly-inter-dependent countries for easy flexible movement of skilled human capitals. Like USA-canada already have.

    Instead of solving for a problem and making it more streamlined you are adding more complexities.. Its a capitalist economy so every equation has a dollar impact but what about more knowledgeable and experienced candidates.. most companies this days really don't care about degree instead only about telent ..
    In ur last video you mentioned that Desi consultancy charge for h1b fee, now let's say they can charge 50k to employees for processing the h1b pro category 😀....

  • @konainmukadam4814
    @konainmukadam4814 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I am not totally sure if a price increase alone would cut it. The problem here are the individuals who are willing to 'pay' to get their H-1B visas, knowing full well it's illegal. What's stopping these desi consultancies to give options to these same individuals to pay $50k so that they can secure this top-tier H-1B.
    Unpopular opinion, there doesn't need to be any change to the H-1B, but EB GC laws. For starters, consultancies that deploy people on 3rd party sites should be barred from applying for EB GCs. This will automatically restrict them from being able to extend visas beyond the 6-year mark. For individuals, a clear path to GC would be to get an FTE or go back in 6 years. Everybody wins.

    Point based system in other countries like Canada is permanent residency and not temporary non-immigrant visas. That's why perhaps they have a more wholistic "assimilation" oriented approach (where did you get experience, for example) and do not care to get into the weeds of what papers you wrote. Comparing H1B system w/ a point based system is apples & oranges. US should still have a point based system for permanent residency.

    I think h1b standard needs to be better and broader since h1b lite will not lead to a greencard. Why? Cause many indian parents that are rich pay big bucks for their kids to get into a private usa uni. Hence making h1b standard only for usa masters graduates is discriminatory and biased. Moroever many indian students with masters and phd from indian universities are more qualified and skilled than their us counterparts. Just cause someone studied in usa doesn't automatically mean they are smarter or more qualified. For example india's CAT is harder than GMAT. Hence i think the h1b standard should also include anyone with a masters degree/phd from indian unis, those with two masters or someone that's highly skilled and possess a lot of knowledge in their field(like for those with l1b visas) or those that know other foreign languages.

    Okay, I stopped watching after 5 minutes. Professor, it is easy to live in fantasyland. Granted that lottery system is bad. But, what you are proposing will never pass US congress. The reason is that giving out green cards based on employments is just one purpose of green cards and America’s technology advancement. There are other reasons America values and have reasons to worry about. For example green cards in following categories: Marriage based, refugee based, family reunification based, and high qualification based (EB1). There is no way, congress will rob Peter to pay Paul. Whatever mechanism you use, maximum number of green cards per year WILL NEVER increase (7% of overall quota for a country). Any mechanism to increase green card in employment based category will reduce numbers in other categories and create hardships in those categories. No one will stand for that either. Let us face it. Number of Indians wanting work based green cards is soooo large, America just cannot afford to give out that many green cards. America has already made up its mind. American companies will open more and more factories in India, and Indians returning from US will work in them. This will work. Asking for $50,000 fee for any visa is a non starter.

    Diversity is America’s strength. If systems like this are implemented. You’ll only have people with certain traits entering America. Which will not be good in the long run.
    I’ve been working with genetic algorithms. And diversity in candidates solutions(exploration) is more important to reach better places than exploitation (focusing on point based systems)
    The current immigration might not be beneficial to Indians. But it his highly beneficial to America.
    Beneficial to America as it can use and throw Indians to replace them with young blood from India , without compromising its diversity having Indians overrun America.😂 since most Indians will die before they get their green cards. Knowing America’s rational policy they have the best of both worlds. It’s not going to change.

      That’s is wrong. One cannot become the president. No other post is restricted. You can even become the Vice President or governor of a state. Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in Austria and became a US citizen later. He then became the governor of California.

      Completely disagree! Life in US is WAY better than India. Because quality of life is way better. You can’t pay me enough to go back to India. Even Ambani, the richest man in India, has extremely poor quality of life the moment he steps out of his luxurious home or corporate office. In other words, even if you are super rich in India, you are living inside a bubble. The infrastructure, air quality, higher education quality, healthcare quality, etc. are far superior in the US. The US is also the most innovative country in the world by a wide margin. The internet was initially developed because of funding from US government backed DARPA. The world’s leading companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Google, Meta, and others, are all American. God Bless America! God bless the greatest country in the world.
