It's one of the best subway station videos as posted here. Grant Avenue station was the last new one to be built and opened completely in the borough of Brooklyn. It opened for regular passenger service on Sunday, April 29, 1956 as a through connection between the IND Fulton Street subway line at Euclid Avenue in Brooklyn and the former BMT Fulton Street elevated line at 80th Street-Hudson Street above Liberty Avenue in Queens.
Fun fact, this station is on a section where what was originally two separate lines got linked to each other, those being the IND Fulton Street Line which is underground and the BMT Fulton Street Line which is elevated. If those lines hadn’t been cut short of where they could link to each other conveniently and hadn’t ever linked together, this station never would’ve existed.
The r46 is an icon at the latest, these trains were my childhood to ride in i’m also sad to see them leave, as the second 75ft cars. Also the r68/A’s are leaving us very soon after the mysterious r268’s replace them as the last 75ft cars in the NYC subway
I swear in person when you look at these r46's they look old and tired but the model itself still looks mad good being sleek and clean not like the r160's having so many more things which define its shape (not like r160's look bad but they certainly have more shapes). wished these could be sold off to another transit agency so they could refurb these amazing cars and keep the legacy going.
Gonna miss those cars. After all the R211 replace the r46 they’ll be remembered as 75 foot cars and the last GE propulsion system of BMT/IND for the B division. Even though we still have the R62s from IRT on the 3 train that has GE propulsion system same as the r46s we’ll miss these cars when they are gone
Ngl i swear for first time people riding the nyc subway it will scare you after seeing one train but then you will be like oh this is nothing after the next

Don't worry guys. 1, 2, or maybe even more, full length R46 trains will still remain. The MTA will donate two cars to the NYC transit museum. There will be a "grand finale train ride" to remember the last R46 trains before they retire, most likely on the Brighton Line (or via the A who knows?) which will be in late 2025-early 2026. I am going to miss those trains. I love their interiors and iconic sounds.
@ 2:09 I like how you can see the train tilt at the curve to help with momentum and flange wear.
im gonna miss the iconic sound of the air compressors on these trains

These iconic NYC gems should be just refurbished with newer technologies and keep rolling.

MTA and NYTM, please preserve one car for the museum. The R44 and R46 are different because the R46 has no white stripe on its body.
Maybe they can preserve two 4-car sets, as well as one or two married pairs.
