@Kat, you're going in the right semantic direction. "Reet," meaning all right. You'll hear that again and again in black folkspeak, as in "The girl's all right, or "reet," with me. The slang used at that time was "jive." You spoke "jive" in those days, hip. Jordan was the equal of all musicians, regardless of hue, and inferior to none. It has been said that the great Johnny Mercer wrote "GI Jive." But that's up for grabs by serious musicologists. For instance, Mercer's rendition of it sounds like an imitation of a black dialect he had heard growing up in Savannah. It was clumsy, not the usual Mercer Wow!! factor. However, Jordan's version of it hit the mark, syncopation, inflection, and all. The very semantics of it, like "Hound Dog," would suggest black folk music in origin but perhaps bought for a piddling amount from some poor bloke. That was a habit then. Later in adult years, I've seen scripts leave the author's hand and miraculously end up with another's name to it.

Do you know what the word is at about 1:50? "Whenever I gaze on her "pulsitude?" What is "pulsitude?"

Seems as though they started putting the choreography together once the song began - some look as if they didn't know if they should try to dance or just sway, then one began to move into semi-dance steps, and the others figured they should follow so as not to stand out. As I'm typing, I have the screen moved up, so I can only see from the knees down. Quite funny.

Whole crew was smokin' that weed before the cameras rolled. Think I'll do that myself and listen to some Cab Calloway!

Why is youtube modifying videos to be out of sync? The music is either faster or slower than the visual performance...is it to cause a division in mind, body, and spirit?

No, man it just looks like it is. Actually, it's a direct precursor to what you saw on the dance shows in the 60s. Deeg it, man!
