For instance, Mercer's rendition of it sounds like an imitation of a black dialect he had heard growing up in Savannah. It was clumsy, not the usual Mercer Wow!! factor. However, Jordan's version of it hit the mark, syncopation, inflection, and all. The very semantics of it, like "Hound Dog," would suggest black folk music in origin but perhaps bought for a piddling amount from some poor bloke. That was a habit then. Seems as though they started putting the choreography together once the song began - some look as if they didn't know if they should try to dance or just sway, then one began to move into semi-dance steps, and the others figured they should follow so as not to stand out. As I'm typing, I have the screen moved up, so I can only see from the knees down. Quite funny.
Why is youtube modifying videos to be out of sync? The music is either faster or slower than the visual performance...is it to cause a division in mind, body, and spirit?
