- In the first episode of Baku Walks we invite you to start the exploration of the city of Baku from the most breathtaking place in the city - The Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and completed in 2012.
Since its independence in 1991, Azerbaijan has significantly invested in modernising and developing Baku’s infrastructure and architecture, moving away from the legacy of normative Soviet modernism. The Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center broke from the rigid and monumental Soviet architecture that was very prevalent in Baku, seeking instead to express the sensibilities of Azeri culture and the optimism of a nation that looks to the future.
We invite you to take a walk around the building to explore the landscape and the surroundings, including the Baku Convention Center designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au. And then, we will go inside the Heydar Aliyev Center to see how this gorgeous project works from within.
The building contains 1,000-seat auditorium, temporary exhibition spaces, a conference center, workshops, and a museum. The "Mini Azerbaijan" exhibition on the 2nd floor represents models of 24 historical and architectural buildings where one can learn about architecture and history of Baku.

Hi, the video was recorded at early hours of Sunday morning so why there aren't many people. Also, it had just rained and the floor looked dirty.
