So, I learned this week... that I might be a huge Cory Henry fan. These are the men that taught me the most. Going to look you up now brother... I also really appreciated the totally different 2 bears.
I like to call his music breakdown, cause he is the type of musician that would do a let's say jazz standard you've heard a thousand times, but when listening to it it's like he's taking each component of the structure and expanding on it to it's absolute fullest potential. I think it was Giant Steps I heard him do live, which is arguably the most complicated song ever and he plays it in a way that even the most tone-deaf person would understand. Long story short - he is a genius.
I feel like Bert was the only one actively trying to include Cory. Cory Kelly getting cut if by Huberman and even Tom. Cory should get a one on one and with Bert because Bert clearly respects him enough to be the only one to ask his opinion. FYI this comment is half way through the episode

@@Rileyed I stopped doing opoids (heroin and fentnyl) and benzoes, and stimulants while going on a diet and losing 90 pounds. You have to replace the unhealthy addictions with healthy ones. I started hunting and fishing again, but it took 6 months to get through the withdrawals. I was dieting and working out the whole time.
Got sober in February 2023 almost died have liver failure and kidney failure was completely yellow from jaundice I was on deaths door from drinking in huge excess granted but I was dying and since then I’ve learn to walk I was 300 pounds and now at 245 feeling mentally and spiritually better love hearing this guy talk and love the pod cast love ya Burt hope the best for all and will stay tuned
Just keep going along brother. I'm around 4 years clean from heroin which ended with me overdosing while laying in bed next to my wife. Just keep an eye out for extreme highs or lows. Good luck man and congrats

Bert simply isn't ready to recognize that alcohol is just a drug like any other. He already invested too many time romanticizing every single aspect of his addiction.
One thing I took away from this conversation was that Andrew isn't willing to accept that other people don't necessarily want to optimize literally every aspect of their lives. Like Bert accepted all of the negative things he had to say about alcohol (which are all true) and then rebutted with basically "Yeah I'm not a moron I get that, and I personally think it's still worth doing". Which honestly is pretty fair, he is making an informed choice to live in a particular way.

These things get progressively worse and can all of a sudden hit you like a truck when you reach a certain age. i've known guys that drink like him and then one day their tolerance falls due to weak liver and they start having serious life issues. if this guy had a normal job he would have had some serious consequences pretty early on. He's designed his life to be able to drink as much as he wants
Clicked on this excited to experience my two favorite worlds - music and comedy - together. It's no exaggeration to say that Cory Henry is one of the best musicians to ever live, so I was hoping to hear from him. Instead I got Huberman pretty much talking the entire episode.
I was so keen to hear Cory get asked about his Music and I really dig Andrew but this is why Cory is an amazing musician. Because he listens deeply. Wish they could do another pod with him.

Andrew said something about your body trying to move out anxiety and it made me think about how ADHD tends to link to that, many people with ADHD are much more sensitive to emotion so they are more easily stressed so they're more likely to be anxious and more likely to unvolunteerily move to as a response to stress

@@joeriley5099 If you've had hundreds of conversations about whether or not you have an alcohol problem on podcasts over a few years then you definitely have a problem. These things get progressively worse and can all of a sudden hit you like a truck when you reach a certain age. i've known guys that drink like him and then one day their tolerance falls due to weak liver and they start having serious life issues. if this guy had a normal job he would have had some serious consequences pretty early on. He's designed his life to be able to drink as much as he wants
