This episode sums up our time together watching this survival show where the dreams of becoming a K-pop idol will come true and others will have to wait for their next chance. A little about the show, one year ago, F&F Entertainment cooked on SBS a new Korean survival show that brought a ton of us together called Universe Ticket. Now after 12 long months they've returned with this brand new show called "Universe League". Down from 82 starting contestants to 42, the first episode starts with what is a team based format with live judge picks, something I haven't seen in this genre myself. Join me as we journey together on what could be the survival show of the year. Or will it end up down the road of infamy that we've seen of recent Korean survival shows.

Team Rhythm: team chemistry, teamwork and friendship
Team Groove: Team relationship with their director.
Team Beat: being underdog with good song

Sirin deserves more respect. Only 16 and he was able to do well. Perform in the finale even though he already vomited 6 times during the live program.
Maybe editing. His character was not developed enough for fans to fall for. The talent is their, but he was not given enough air time to get to know his personality..
True, some blame ten yang 4 not picking sirin during d final 7 but d thing is daisuke has been w them from d very start of main lineup and jeongwu is needed 4 onsite voting coz obviously they been low onsite
@@ZainRain-j3i Huh?! This is the first time I heard this issue. If anything else its somebody else they are prefering to exchange for daisuke. We sirin fans are just minding our business and focusing on new paths for our pick.
Yes, I felt betrayed that tenyang didn't steal back Sirin having two chances to do it. Especially jeongwoo very much loyal to groove even attending LCS groove party.
And Most likely the show's PD of FnF told Tenyang to choose jeongwoo.
Maybe that's the reason Sirin only follows LCS. It's a bit petty but I can't fault how heartbreaking that was for a 16y/o boy Sirin.
As far as I know, handling a Sirin fans group, I haven't seen any post about Us wanting Daisuke out. We already accepted that Sirin will not debut with all the circumstances that happened.
The name is serving its purpose. People are talking about it.

Don't get me wrong, I know Team Groove are good performers in both singing and dancing but I think they always do the same thing until Finals..They're not trying to get out of their comfort zone? If that make sense?
If im working with F&F i will suggest to have a same concept to all Teams per round.. If its cutesy kind of concept, performance or vocal, in that way the Audience will determine which Team are really standout in all categories.
By the way, congratulations to AHOF! Can't wait for their debut song.☺
Can’t agree more. I honestly think that TG could have had so much more to over if they were not stuck in their concept. I get it that they wanted to make vocal-centered group but doesn’t mean that they should completely give up on the dancing when you can clearly see based on draft preformences that the members are more than capable to perform powerful dances while serving vocal smoothly (esp park han and hanseo in siren)
I also want team Groove to try more intense choreography performances, but I also want to see team Rhythm to try more vocally challenging and emotional performances. I feel the same way with Rhythm. They mainly have intense choreography performances, not many different concepts, and mostly stayed in their comfort zone, too. Their music also sounds quite the same throughout the show.
Team Groove might not dance as aggressively as team Rhythm, but no other team was able to pull off a 2+ person harmonization and adlib like them. I do have to disagree that they give up on the dance aspect because they still dance really neat and well, but not as aggressively and more on different style (delicate and conceptualize dances).
I think Beat team has the most diverse concept throughout the show (bright, dark, energetic, emotional).
Each team has a different charm, and that's why they appeal to different people.
@@sakurahanis well at least Rhythm's Roller Coaster is focus on Visual not just Performance, Groove is the only Team that wasn't tried other concept....and same in Rhythm, they have an intense choreography but you can hear how stable they are in singing especially JL.
But its not what i mean in my comment before...They are Talented, i just hope that if only UL had the same category in each Team per round, it might be fun and exciting. (Visual, Vocal and Performance)

I really wanted to see Park Han in a Performance with his hundred percent energy.😍 i know how capable he is in dancing.🥰 He actually reminds me of Stell of SB19, He has a golden voice but can't deny the fact that He is not only good in singing but also good in dancing too.. Such a talented idols.. I adore them both.
@@PrinsipeCD Can you elaborate on what you mean by Visual because I feel that actually applies to all performances.
In terms of skill-based performances, usually we divided it into mainly 3 which are dance heavy, vocal heavy, and rap heavy performances. There can be a mix, but usually performances will focus on one aspect more than the others.
In terms of concepts, we usually divide it into concepts like bright, dark, cute, sexy, emotional, motivational, or into genres like hip hop, ballads, pop, rock and others.
But I don't understand what does visual means because all performances are basically visual but with different values.
I never bought any album in my entire life, not until Unis came and bought their albums and also I start collecting their Photocard. Now with AHOF I'm really excited with their official debut and my wallet is ready haha.. J L Steven Park Han bias here.

I'm a Team Rhythm fan but when I was watching the episode, I had this mindset that I'd be happy with whoever wins. And yes, someone like me who bought Prism Coins to vote on the app has already placed her order for the Universe League album. So yeah, if they were also keeping track of paid votes, they might also have an idea of who would sell albums, tickets, and merch.
The 101 for Prison triggered the fans lol hence the ridiculous amount of votes afterwards. Not only that, people noticing how Park Han repeatedly was at the low bottom of starting team even though he's carrying the whole team all the time, probably added up to that. Online voters stepped up and that's good because Park Han is where he's supposed to be, ON TOP.
One thing El Capitxn did well on this show was show off a wide range of music. We got all types of style/concepts out of him throughout the whole show and Beat team did well performing them.
I do feel like Changsub was the most involved director on this show but I think the reason behind that is because 1. He runs a school so he likely has a sense of pride when it comes to teaching, like how well his team does would reflect on him and his teaching. Also this means he KNOWS how to teach. 2. He's been in the industry the longest amongst the directors. So he knows what the industry is like, the changes its gone through, the hardships/challenges. 3. The other directors also has other commitments to fufill, like WayV had a comeback and concerts during the time of the show and Yugyeom was probably preparing for Got7's comeback so that's possibly why we didn't see them with their teams as often. 4. Changsub is just a nice guy.
Added to that was their agencies. I heard the Rhythm directors has a strict agency which somehow limits their interaction besides their busy schedule.
I think Changsub was also in the middle of his national tour on top of his Jeongwaja during the filming? 🤔
A big chunk of that actually could be because of the editing of the production. But also, WayV was very busy during that time. I'm amazed they were even able to multitask that well. WayV was in the middle of multiple scheds during UL taping, they were promoting a new MV (Frequency), Ten had a Solo with Minnie, SM Anniversary, WayV Anniversary and tour overseas (Bangkok, Hongkong etc.). They had to fly overseas after the Finals episode that's why they had to leave early. They had a concert in Bangkok I think.
I am all for opinions and discussions. It's really interesting. But same take as you, that one person really is pushing it every time. adios Sanika, they can get back to raising hell in X instead..

I always watch on your twitch uploads for UL, and yeah that commenter has been there for many episodes and to be honest, some days, I stopped watching because of her/him and just wait for the Patreon uploads. Lol Sanika trying to justify Groove's diversity with Hanseo being Taiwanese... if Steven isn't listed as Korean and it's held against Rhythm for "not having enough Koreans" then why should Hanseo be listed as Taiwanese to allow Groove to claim more reach to global audiences? @15:20 My main gripe is: foreign trainees should’ve been distributed equally across all 3 teams). Looking at the past scores (both online AND on-site), foreign trainees scored the lowest (for whatever reason, idw speculate). Only 6 trainees didn’t: Shuaibo, Chi En, JL, Kenta, Daisuke & Kairi.
Imo, it’s the main cause of the divide and gap between on-site and online voting. If foreign trainees were spread out, local trainees would’ve been spread out too (maybe) leading to the audience not having a heavy bias for a specific team.
This falls in the hands of directors. Rhythm and beat are mixed, but groove chose to gather popular locals. It's his strategy that ultimately backfired.
@ It should’ve been a rule imposed by the show runners. By this logic, the same can be said for Rhythm getting mostly foreign.
Imposing that rule, mentors still get to choose their trainees. It would’ve been fairer for all, especially the foreign trainees.
I got you. A referee should have been there since it's like a team sports. But for this season, it realy depends on the strategy the directors follows.
@ Oh I have waayyy more notes on what the show could’ve improved on, including that - a neutral/unbiased party in voting BUT, having equal foreign and local trainees per team would’ve fixed A LOT (and cost nothing).
I imagine having another party involved would be too much (faces and cost wise) since they already have big names as mentors and host.
I want to add for trades, 3rd place team should be able to trade for a bench player from 1st place team. They still should be able to improve their line up even if they fell last.

At the end of the day, no matter how bad or how well the teams perform, majority of the people voting have already made their decisions. They're there to support, not to be convinced. Final episodes are formalities. The winner of this show was already decided back in Ep 4, because literally the mechanics of this show hinges on fans getting attached to their faves. And whichever group has the most dedicated / single-minded fans will win. But that's stand culture for you.
If you check the fancams Rhythm passed the tissues around and it was thr funniest, diabolical thing ever. Especially because it got smaller and smaller as it got passed.

Like why did they get the entire point that no matter how you say a team gets the vote. whether they paid for it or they just dedicated to vote, it's still reflects to the future of the winning group. If they pay, they buy albums, if they're just dedicated that means theyre really hard core fans.

If you want another survival recomendation: hybe japan is releasing one with 11 trainees (bg) this month.
Maybe will be a similar format to &howling ( was 15 trainees) were there is explicity pd picks, but arent garanty debut, if can't form a good group dinamics and performance. Votes only counts to final elimination and judges voting power > public.
