  • The Camino is only 3 or 4 days away and we are maaaaybe, almost ready. There's no time like the present and no place like Paris to start training for this thing--by just walking. So today we make it a goal to walk across the entire city of Paris. The famous city is about 9 miles across, east to west, and about 6 miles, north to south...which sounds doable, but we'll be walking 2 times that amount every day on the Camino. Luckily, we have some beautiful sites to see along the way. Come along as we walk around beautiful Paris!

    A couple of points....
    SJPdP is French... They eat Supper a 8pm or later.
    Find a place to sleep in SJPdP that offers a Communal Meal... you will meet fellow Pilgrims
    on the first day..... walk to Orisson, not Roncesvalles. It is 8Km of ALL up hill.
    you will meet (more) fellow Pilgrims
    Sent one BackPack to Orisson (€5, with a bottle of Wine?). Carry only Rain Stuff, Snacks, and Water.
    (you are NOT in shape yet, the walk will be hard enough)
    (next day) Walk to Roncesvalles. DON'T TAKE THE STEEP WAY DOWN ! ! !
    Send one bag to Roncesvalles (€5). Your Feet will Thank You. Your Knees will Thank You.

      WHY DO PEOPLE EAT SO LATE? It's baffling lol - we get hungry at 5pm and just wander around aimlessly looking at the all the closed restaurants, confused and sad.
      These are all great tips :) we did end up sending one bag to Roncesvalles, and also definitely took the steep way down. So, 50/50

    So I found you two by watching some of your Camino videos which were great. Love the cost break down that you have at the end. Me and my Wife travel similarly. When we try to tell people the second biggest cost (flight being the most) is the hotel, they are always skeptical. Kuddos to you two. I will say the fact that you went with out a pack already selected and broke in was risky, but you made it work. Wish you the best of luck.

      Hey James!! Thanks for finding us and watching! We definitely went into the Camino not super prepared, but already want to go back--that's the magic of it, I guess :)

    You will do great on the camino. Don't be too hard on yourselves the first couple days and you will get into a rhythm before you know it. I have faith in you.
    Those otacos intrigued me too. I'm glad I tried one

    • @LisaAndJosh
      @LisaAndJosh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - I think we're still trying to find our rhythm. It's just so different from everyday life, that it takes some time to downshift.
      And thank you :)

    Sorry for your lost...hugs to Lisa and family! SO excited for you guys! I met someone who just finished the camino on my way back to the US from Italy. What a great way to contemplate, reflect, and feel connected to the spirit!

    Y’ALL GOT THE CAMINO! Paris is the perfect warm up! We walked 35,000 steps in a day there 😂 READY FOR THESE NEXT FEW VLOGS WOOHOO!

    • @LisaAndJosh
      @LisaAndJosh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha - thank you! We need this kind of energy, for sure. Paris was a great warmup - it's amazing how far you can walk in such an interesting city. In an average day in Wisconsin I would walk like... 1 mile, maybe?
      :)

    Loved watching and hello from LCA I’ve been to Paris a few times. We love using the Lime scooters to get around. They save us so much time and walking lol but good for you guys. 500 miles is insane

    • @LisaAndJosh
      @LisaAndJosh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why hello there :) I wanted to use those Lime scooters but Lisa just wasn't having any of it. They terrify her for some reason.
      500 miles is insane. We'll see how that goes...

    I really enjoy watching your videos as they are fun and informative. You mentioned about forwarding a luggage containing items that you don’t need for your Camino de Santiago walk. I would appreciate if you can share some information as to the cost and how long does it take to forward the luggage to the next destination. Thanks Lisa and Josh and keep sharing your trip videos.

      Yes - more coming on that soon! To summarize now (until we get the video out) - Jacotrans is the service used by the most of the pilgrims, it's in most of the auberges. There's also Correios (the Spanish postal service). They both will let you send stuff all the way to the end to be held for up to 45 or 60 days (Depending on how much you pay). Ours cost 40 euros to send from Roncesvalles all the way to Santiago de Compostela to be held for 45 days.

    When in Paris for only a day and a half we decided to do the Hop On Hop Off bus tour. Traffic was so bad we hardly moved in 40 minutes. So decided to figure out the metro system. Thought we had it, got our tickets, then got stuck figuring out where to change. Ripped up the tickets, threw them in the garbage and got an uber hahahaha! Paris is fun hope you enjoyed it!

    • @LisaAndJosh
      @LisaAndJosh  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol - the traffic was always impossible there. I love this story of finding the right way for you to travel across Paris the hard way. Bus? Can't go anywhere. Metro? Nope. Uber? Perfect :)
      We had such a blast there!

    You’re lucky no one stole your camera when you had your back to it. As for the fencing around the trees it could be to prevent dogs and/or homeless people damaging them by going under them? I know that’s why it’s done where I live.
