Hi, I’m having issues with my ccd-trv37, it refuses to play any tapes not even fast forward or rewind, it can record but the zoom is stuck and will sometimes zoom in itself, the tape draw sometimes opens by itself and doesn’t create tension when ejecting, refuses to close, what could be the issue, it’s shows the c:32:11 error code
Hi Dave! Quick question : I’m struggling with a Grayscale adjustment for a trash rescue Dynex 20” CRT. The colors look accurate on the SMPTE graph but the grays and blacks have a greenish tint to them that I am struggling to fix. Could this be on the phosphur level or maybe a sign if a weak CRT?
Hello, I have a question, how much does it cost if I take my Sony handicam ccd-trv43 camera to replace the pause, play, stop, reverse and forward button flex? Is it just one piece?
@@12voltvids Yeah, I would say an identical camera is needed. Just make one functional out of two (or more). Once I waited three months until I got a unit just for a flex cable. Otherwise total scrap - was flooded with water. I also kept the heads just in case but they probably won't work correctly.
Interesting problem, I guess that’s another thing to keep in mind with repairs/maintenance. Never seen a part like that cause any problems until now. At least it was easy and cheap! Always nice when you can get another old Sony working again!
I sold this machine last year to a guy to archive his tapes. He had over 300 tapes to digitize and that would have cost him about 6000 at 20 per beta tape which is what I get for beta. Now he is done he went to sell the machine and it didn't work so he gave it back to me, so I guess this one will be on the market again.
With that many tapes having your own machine would be best. If you recorded on tape though, it would have been smart to keep the machine that actually made the tape recording in the first place. Of course that didn’t happen though, always have to upgrade and wait decades until you realize your tapes aren’t backed up. I always try to keep backups and transfer a 1 to 1 copy if possible like with miniDV.
Not a fault you see everyday but when you have 35+ year-old electronics everything is possible I guess. Looks like this unit was taken apart before too because I can see the two scratches/marks on the upper drum, meaning someone (could be you) took it apart to remove the shine. :)
I sold this one to a guy that had many tapes to transfer and ur came back so i had to fix it for him. Fortunately he is only an hour away so he hung out while i looked at it. I sold it last year.
@@crashbandicoot4everryes I still have it and will revisit it some day probably soon. I was just looking at it the other day sitting in a pile of stuff i am going to sort through and junk the junk. Might even start on that today as there are a few old printers that were given to be a few years ago to check out and if they are toast they are gone. Anything that is serviceable will be donated to the second hand shop but if it's total junk then off to recycling it goes.
@@12voltvids I do have the service and adjustment manuals for it on pdf. If you need them let me know because I am not allowed to post links here. And I think you were right in saying it will not turn on if the clock/timer IC isn't working.
@@crashbandicoot4everr That would be great as it will make troubleshooting much easier. I used to have all the manuals but I dumped most of them after I left the business as I never figured I would need them. Here I am in 2025 working on this crap again, but its only a hobby now. Something to keep the mind sharp.

Check the g2 screen level. If too high it will wash out the pix and trash the dynamic range.
When you jiggled the plug in and out, the CC subtitles said "Applause". 🙂
That's ai for you.

It's an assembly and good luck finding one. Use your remote.

Great work Dave, yeah that is indeed a weird one for sure. But anything possible with such old gear. Did it smell like smoke inside?
No but everything is a brown yellow color.
I've run across a few times where these connectors cause issues, but not quite like this.

PUSE UNA CINTA DE UN CASSETTE BETA EN UN CARTRIDGE VHS Y FUNCIONA , SISTEMA NTSC. LO MISMO PARA UNA CINTA PAL/N
No it didn't. Drum size different. Chrome frequency different and tsos speed different. Only the tape width is the same.
