I’ve been watching your videos for around 3 years now.
As a viewer, I appreciate your disclosure of your current affiliation with the endorsed product. Unfortunately, as presented this really wasn’t a useful product review. It doesn’t provide the data necessary to make an informed decision on what to buy.
A more useful review would have been a comparison between the endorsed product and its competition. In the Western USA, the brands of rack mounted, pannier, soft luggage you typically see are Amazon products (various companies), Tusk (Pilot & Olympic), Nelson Rigg (Dry Bags and Hurricane), Wolfman (Rocky Mountain Expedition), Giant Loop (Round the World and MotoTrekk), and Mosko Moto (BackCountry 35L or 25L). In that way, you could show why you think the Mosko luggage is specifically better and worth the premium price.
I have no doubts on the quality and look of the Mosko luggage. The other brands above (some of which you have endorsed/reviewed) are also very good with a caveat of Amazon products which may or may not be good (buyer beware).
The Mosko luggage seems like much more of a status symbol. I encourage you to look at what people are actually using on your travels. My guess is you’ll find Mosko on BMW 850/1250 GS models most frequently if those bikes have soft luggage. Lesser status bike brands seem to have much more flexibility on what they purchase. 🤣
Also is there an effective way to lock the Mosko Luggage on the bike. The ease of putting on and taking off the luggage makes me think it would have a higher probability of wandering off at a stop…

    • @ParallelCamper
      @ParallelCamper ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you do a careful comparison, some Amazon clone luggage is identical to the name brand products. Just different branding.

I'd be interested to see you review a lightweight system, perhaps maybe even try out a lightweight camping trip using something like the Green Chile Adventure Gear Pecos Bundle. It's nothing fancy but it's at a great price point if you already have light gear too. I was really into ultralight/lightweight backpacking prior to getting my motorcycle and a lot of the gear translates over.

As someone who falls down a fair bit when off-roading, I can say these bags are solid. Had a few good slides and they were unscathed. My riding buddy has some of the original models and has had a few crashes, one that included breaking some bones, and the bags have survived. Since their launch there a few more competitors that might be worth looking at.

I might add one con and solution: The liners can be quite grabby on certain items you may put in them. (Plastic boxes, rubber sip bags, packing cubes) MY SOLUTION: Baby Powder 😄. Just put some in your hands and rub everything that’s blue. Sure your stuff may have a light powder coating and smell, but you might need it after a couple days of hard riding 😆.

Very nice review. I have the Lonerider bags on my 1250 GSA. But I’m travelling from Ushuaia to Alaska on a Vstrom 650 XT and deemed those too big. So I got me a set of Mosko’s. They fit the Vstrom better, though I couldn’t fit the exhaust protector and sent it back. My experience so far is great. I slit down a hill, the hill was steeper than the Vstrom could handle. The one that was on the bottom has some superficial scratches on the beaver tail, other than that no damage. Amazing build quality. The hooks of the beaver tail release themselves sometimes and that’s a bummer as I lost an auxiliary fuel bag somewhere on the caretera Austral.

Thanks Ian, I just wish they were a little larger in the base. Like a 40L bag and then the Aux bags but I really like how you put the one bag down at the bottom. Only thing I would do different is buy the 35/35 instead of the 35/25. If you pack accordingly the extra room is nice. You also need to re-think how you pack in order to maximize the volume, ie what do you put in the aux pockets. They are easy to remove and take into a hotel or motel with you.

I would not trust it to hold more than a few ounces, let alone 5 liters of water or gasoline. The Aux pockets are supplied with mounting screws and blind Tee nuts to attach to the Backcountry bags. The Backcountry bags are manufactured with reinforced holes on each end specifically for bolting the Aux pockets to the bags, and these holes have velcro patches that conceal and cushion the Tee nut heads. There are no such provisions in the bottom of the Backcountry bags.

Have you done any experimentation with how high the pucks are mounted on the bars? I noticed yours are set to hold the bags as low as possible, which makes sense to keep weight low. With that aux bag on the bottom do you have any concerns about it dragging or hitting the ground? Maybe that only matters for lower bikes? I've kicking around the idea of carrying a small fuel bladder there. Any thoughts on that?

Ian, in this video you talk too much and show too little. Not your best. You could at least mention the price and let people decide whether they are too expensive!

I have the exact same bags on my 22 GS Adventure 40th Anniversary and love them. Yea, pricey but well worth the cost. The beaver tail is the bees knees for misc crap that you want handy. If something happened to these, I'd buy the same again.

I cringed when I bought these for my GSA, thinking I'd miss the aluminum panniers I was so afraid of denting. But I have no regrets and have really enjoyed the mosko moto bags. I also like that I can put them on whatever bike I own going forward. Very happy with mine.

Love my 35L's. Had a "slow motion spill" last weekend and one of them fell off inadvertently (due to the weirdness of the spill). Turned around about a mile after noticing I was missing my left side bag. Found it, secured it. All good. These things are bulletproof! Thanks BRM for this review. Mosko is my GO-TO! Best stuff out there.

Question: watched numerous videos of these panniers. But no one has shown what it looks like down inside the bag. Reason I'm asking is I'm wondering how difficult/easy it is to load the bags, and I'd be interested in how you pack your clothing in one of these. Although I will never buy hard panniers, it's easy to see that they load like a suitcase, so easy to see what you have in them. I personally roll my cloths and rubber-band each item. I wonder if it's possible to install some type of plastic support structure similar to what they use in the LoneRider bags. Thanks in Advance for your response.

If you have a gsa the akalaka mounts from gateway BMW are great mounts and allow you switch jnstsntly between factory hard bags and the Mosco bags.

I hated spending the money for these bags, but I love them. Initially I had a giant loop bag. Sure those don't need a rack, but such a hassle to pack and access stuff. [Have a feeling the reckless bags are similar quandary] The Backcountry bags are so much nicer to pack and use. Plus they come on and off so easy. Definitely worth the price.

I appreciate that Mosko automatically shows Canadian prices and ships to Canada. I will keep these bags and this link at the top of my shopping list when I'm ready to commit to soft luggage. I expect the Canadian government will slap some duty and/or taxes when it crosses the border, but the price is not higher than I expected for quality soft luggage.

One negative is that you have to leave that plate always attached to the bike racks unless you want every time to dismantle. It may get damaged if you slide or crash your bike without the bags installed

Confused between Backcountry and Rackless. I am a beginner and can't make up my mind. Watched all your videos on luggage systems but alas, they didn't help my choice. It would be good if you could help with the factors and their weights that influence the choice of the above systems, then noting the preferences for each factor would help in choosing the right system.

I just finished putting my Aux Pods on my new offset Backcountry Panniers and will be packing them up for a weekend trip shortly. When I was shopping around, I kept coming back to Mosko, but was a little put off by the price. After doing my research, though, the 'cheaper' alternatives that weren't just garbage really weren't all that much cheaper ($200 for the pair, maybe), and lacked a bunch of features such as the quick release mounting. With that in mind, I pulled the trigger.
So far, super impressed. These things were built to survive in any and all conditions and you can tell they thought really hard about everything when they were designing it. I also got a Scout top bag, which can double as a backpack! I'm very impressed with this kit.

Friend of mine has them and I love the panniers, I just hate the looks of the pucks when the panniers are not on. I love to use the SW-Motech pro carrier, as it can easily be detached from the bike, but I saw that the mounting pucks are not compatible with that.... so I am still hesitant to buy them.
    Great video again!

I'm sure they are, as you can drill 3 holes to adapt the M Moto panniers onto the SW Motech racks. A few youtube videos as well as M Moto vids that who how to do this.
