  • Some sound clips from my recent review of the 2005 VW GTI 1.8T. The sound modifications are a 42 Draft Designs exhaust with OBX downpipe. What do you think of the sound?

Not bad for an exhaust video, most of them are just a cell phone propped up nearby. Phone inevitably falls over when car starts.

Shouldn’t you shield that open air filter from engine heat and shit?

If you have one in good condition yes, but like most euro cars you have to keep up with maintenance . once you start neglecting things problems can build up. your experience will largely depend on the previous owners. Generally the 1.8 and its trans is very reliable, so you shouldn't have much to worry about there. my friend recently bought one and had to replace the entire rear suspension, yes literally everything, because of the stupid shit the previous owner did (he bent the rear axle for more caber which in turn fucked the rest of the suspension up). He is also dealing with a few electrical problems, but for what he spent on it ($2,700) not a bad deal for a fun lil daily.

Sounds a bit like a fart can at low rpm but sounds great at higher rpm
