Takes me back to my childhood in the 1950s. I use to work on a Saturday morning for a guy called Ken Dagenhardt whose servo was on Toorak Road near the intersection with Burke Road in Hawthorn. In those days a garage sold various brands of petrol (Golden Fleece, Ampol, COR, etc.) and customers were particular in their brand choice. As I recall I earned 5/- (five shillings) which financed my afternoon at the local cinema.

I know that area well - I also rode my bicycle around that area in the late 1970's as we were locals !
