    i’m going through a lot of self hatred and a lot of anger toward myself that i cannot get rid of. when i get mad i just want to harm myself and i literally cannot calm down. my therapist always said there’s tons of guided meditations on youtube. i was listening to some but they just made me more angry. but yours... the analogy of my anger killing my garden, and that’s what it’s doing to me. i’ve been sobbing this whole video, but hell do i feel a lot better. i will come back to this video every single time i am angry, no matter what. thank you so much for this. when i’m mad i hunker down and isolate myself bc i’m scared ill effect other people. when really i’m just hurting myself the most.

      Miranda, I read your comment and just wanted to share something I’ve been learning regarding anger. (Please disregard if this does not resonate with you). I have issues regulating emotions and sometimes even feeling them at all. Some of this is from my body’s response to past trauma and some comes from family patterns and family “rules” taught around emotions. By exploring questions regarding how things were handled in my childhood home, I realized that it was never modeled to me how to resolve conflict or how to handle emotion in front of others. If we got angry, our parents acted as if it was unacceptable and we were sent to our rooms or sent away outside and told to come back when we were “better.” This created a subconscious rule for myself that anger was bad and feeling was bad, scary, unacceptable around others, etc. Then I learned our emotions are important and tell us things about what we need and its ok to have them and to show them. In fact, the more we become aware of them and let them out, the healthier we can feel. After realizing that this “rule” I had learned was wrong, and not even my own belief, I felt much more empowered to deal with the emotions in a healthy way (which at first can take a lot of energy). I’m slowly able to identify them, meditate on where the feeling is coming from, thank it for alerting me to a potential need and then ask it to pass. I take 5 minutes after every incident of intense emotion to go through that process and i have unexpectedly released and resolved a lot of things from the past and those intense emotions have gone away since devoting that time to it. Also, self compassion meditations (especially by tara brach or kristen kneff) and inner child meditations help as well. Also, theres a free therapy channel “therapy in a nutshell” with a free 30 day course on emotion processing and there are some great free audiobooks in your library app about these topics too. Anyways, I just felt like maybe this could be useful to you because you mentioned isolation and affecting other people. Just know that you don’t have to isolate, your emotions are not bad and its ok to take up space and be you while others are around....but I feel as if I have been in that place you’re describing and know how scary and isolating and shameful it can feel. The things I mentioned helped me out of that trap. I hope you find healing soon. ❤️

    This is honestly one of the greatest meditations I've ever listened to. whenever I feel that my anger cannot be disposed of, I get the need to hear this meditation. This is one of my favorite guided meditations of all time. Thank you.
    Quick tip for all those listening - this meditation's already powerful imagery can be made even more effective by imagining the garden as an idealized version of your childhood backyard or some other beloved location from your childhood or youth.

      Only if you had one. Most of the people who are angry its because of our childhood things we don’t remember things we do not even know we need to face from our childhood. Like being thrown into walls and beat because you started bleeding from being thrown into the wall. Yeah thats why this meditation helps.

I gotta say this video helped me a lot since then and your replies brought my mood up today as well. There are some awful people out there, and if you let them get to you, you are wasting your energy on them. Instead of holding a grudge, know that people change throughout the years, and that person will hopefully grow up and learn from their mistakes.

    I recently wrote this review on Amazon: 'I know from experience that I cannot 'will' myself to release my anger. Understanding why I have carried anger for so long does not eliminate it. Anger is a pointless burden. Listening to this guided meditation is the first time I have felt the burden begin to lighten. It is now part of my daily routine. It began with TH-cam, but I wanted to have the guidance available anytime. It has to be one of the most important purchases I have made from Amazon. The Honest Guys are like friends who support me in my desire for a healthier life. My appreciation is beyond any words I know.'

    Almost three years later, and I am still coming back to this one. Even when I am not struggling with anger or negativity, the timing of the music and the narration in this visualization never fail to give a good feeling. When Rick tells us, "You smile," I realize I already am, calm and relieved of heaviness I may not have even been aware of. Elegantly written, perfectly scored, and beautifully narrated - a forever favourite.

    • @suzyswain402
      @suzyswain402 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think often we use anger to mask other emotions such as sadness and grief so when we release the anger we allow ourselves to feel the other negative emotions which have been suppressed. We need to face these emotions to let go and recover.

      Anger is a secondary emotion.most likely its because you are hurt Emotionaly by some one.It could be as simple as some one asking if your ok and you begin to tell them and they act like they dont care.
      thus your feelings were hurt.It takes time to let go of anger and it is a process.

    Absolutely love this meditation. I have listened to it several times and it helps me more than words can describe. I get angry very easily and resentful but when I listen to this meditation it helps calm me down. I feel the dark music showing how dark anger is and how it becomes negative energy the dying of the garden it is powerful. But when a bigger power appears our power of a blue-white star and the music it flows with the theme. My personal favorite and I would say it is one of my favorite meditations of all time. I have listened to many! Keep helping others. I always feel it when you guys mentioned the power that shines within us and how it envelops me with light and power!! Thank you so much. God bless.

    Nice meditation! I just used it because I got angry this afternoon when I had to correct my mom when she mentioned that I had NOT taken some medicine for my back teeth before my appointment for them but I really had taken some. (Today's appointment was about using a syringe for my back teeth since I had my wisdom teeth out last week.) I also got angry the week before last week when I asked my stepmother to take a picture of me alone and then my second younger brother just joined me for a picture without my permission after I had a picture taken of me alone.
    I am so relieved from my anger now. Let's face it, I have autism and I easily get angry about even small matters somewhat frequently. My family does not like it at all.

      Shelley Anthony I just now took a quick look back on my comment on this video and I only just now saw your replies.
      I keep thinking about the time when my second younger brother made me angry by just joining me for a picture without my permission. I was wearing a black dress shirt tucked into gray pants with black dress shoes, and I wanted a picture taken of just me alone wearing that outfit.
      Based on Angus Scattergood of the new movie "Rock Dog". Angus wears a black shirt and gray pants and sunglasses, making him a Cool Cat. He not only lives alone in an unusually big house, a scene shows him alone in his studio room showing off his guitar. I loved Angus for his outfit.
      So just after my stepmother took a picture of me wearing that Angus-style outfit, my second younger brother just showed up to join me for a picture without asking first. And that's what about it made me angry.

    Well, I sure don't feel pissed right now, we'll see about longterm?
    I mean anger gets a bad rep it has an useful function, but you know it's counterproductive when you haven't seen a person in years & still feel the veins in your head pounding if anything reminds you of them so I hope that in the future I'll be able to just go about my day instead of losing time to this, I don't want blood pressure problems or ulcers when I'm older, I'd rather just enjoy my life without the pointless frustration XD
    Funnily enough I was already picturing an evil tar puddle before you even described it.
    Im also massively grateful that this didn't contain the word 'forgiveness' anywhere, its not somehow the only diametrical opposite to stewing 24/7 forever.
    I think anyone can agree with just being chill & not letting bad vibes be a drain on precious time & otherwise nice days.

      Write a letter to that person.Do not send it to them.Read the letter outloud to some one you trust.that will not offer you any hugs or tissues while you are reading the letter.if need to be read it out loud to your self.after you do that rip the letter up.Trust me it works very well.I do hope uou have let go of your anger toward this person.cause no one is worth your health.

I did this meditation, I wrote down everything I felt angry about. I released it all. I felt anxious, I let go of tears in release, I felt absolutely calm and then vunerable and I am so grateful. Grateful to who created and shared this and grateful to myself for finally letting it go.

    Doing something physical to work off anger does not work. I went for a very fast bicycle ride the other month and it never got rid of the anger, so I was even more angry than what I was before!

    • @Mcfc2Rich
      @Mcfc2Rich 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Try smashing a football against the wall...works for me 😊 when you're releasing negative tension in a physical way it's good, cycling's more of a smooth option IMO, if you're absolutely smashing the hell out of a football (⚽️) you're releasing a lot of built up tension & anger. If that's not your fancy try smashing a tennis ball with a tennis racket, or you could start chopping wood with an axe, anything that helps get out a load of energy straight away so you can use that to transform it into something else I.e the ball hitting the wall, the wood chopping etc
