@@jamiethal1319 This is not what Connie Chung was on about at that time. And I wrote "huge numbers". People have gone outside and had a helicopter crash on them, but I don't typically advise against going outside to avoid this.
A quick search shows that what you describe is rare at best. Looks a little vague honestly. And even by the numbers presented, maybe 36 people died in 20 years? Chung was into some very bad 'science' and spewing misinformation.
Basically, this woman had implants and got cancer - therefore the implant caused the cancer. But it turned out that when you looked at the data, that women who didn't have implants got cancer at the same rate statistically speaking. When presented with these statistics, they protested with things like "A woman is not a statistic, she's a human being" and other such nonsense.

I am paid to be that as well, and in fact, have more responsibility... to the point I would say that I am a communication specialist, organizer, curator, and manager, and I still work at a MUCH lower rate than he was paid!.......HE DESERVED TO BE FIRED!

What is this, North Korea? She wasn’t declaring her admiration for Al Jolson and Jim Crow laws. As a primarily black person whose extended family straddles several fiercely-protected cultural traditions, I feel that the current cultural attitude towards blackface (et al) is an overcorrection.
I don't think that dressing up as Diana Ross back in the eighties, for instance is cringe-worthy any more than Tom Hanks portraying a gay person or a disabled person or a villain should be considered inappropriate since the very point of Halloween and acting is to pretend to be someone you're not for a while. Sure, we now have the capability to cast actors who fit their roles more closely, and we should do that, but it seems to me that that reduces an actor's opportunities to stretch.
However, considering how a person's intent is increasingly difficult to read (both because we are losing the ability to read people AND because people are more often employing ulterior motives) and because information is increasingly shared without context, I completely understand why indulging in another's culture is no longer appropriate.
This is not to say that celebrating/engaging in other cultures is inherently a bad thing; it's just become politically problematic to do so without being accused of appropriation (which is when you actively pretend that a foreign culture is your own) or accused of mocking that culture (when you present that culture in caricature).
It is my sincere hope that this relatively new phobia does not permanently have a chilling effect on cultural proliferation, discouraging people from learning about one another's ways of life.

Ok I need to say this because it’s a pet peeve.
The people who call jail prison or prison jail.
They’re 2 very different places. Jail is more restrictive and probably physically safer. And prison is less restrictive. People are allowed to get jobs in the prison. And have better snacks, and get access to more things to fill their time. But they are in a bigger facility and they have more opportunities to get hurt or taken advantage of or extorted. You get jail time for anything under a year. But sometimes you can get a federal sentence for under a year which means you are sent to a federal prison for 6 months (like Martha Stewart). But mostly you are in prison for any thing over a year and jail for under a year. A friend of a friend had an arrest record longer than my whole body. And when he was arrested and charged. At the time of his trial. He was acting out trying to distract jurors. And called his lawyer and the prosecutor dirty names. But at the time of sentencing. She told him she didn’t like his behavior. But she knew he had kids at home who depended on him for a lot of care, and a wife who had mental health problems who he helped manage her medication and her care. But he needed to serve some time. And she wanted to insure that the he was kept in county jail so he was close enough so the kids could easily visit as opposed to him being the 300 miles away. So she gave him 364 days even though she could have given him up to 5 years. When he heard that he wasn’t going to get time served or even just a few weeks to a month. He screamed he was going to kill her when he got out. And he hoped that her kids were raped. And he flipped the defendants table all in a matter of 45 seconds. She demanded that he calmed down. And he was going to sit in the holding cell and calm down then he was going to come back in to hear some truths. That all happened about 11 am. Finally at about 4:30 the guard told her he was still agitated but better. So he was brought back in about 10 minutes before court ended for the day. And she said that she knew he wanted her to consider giving time served or that he would just get a month or less. But she didn’t agree that was enough of a sentence. So she gave him a day short so he could see his kids a couple times a week. But … now that he showed no respect for her and said vile things to her. She was canceling the 364 and that she was instead going to change it to 366. She apologized to the wife and told him that next time a Judge shows you grace by trying to help by NOT sending you further away. You deserve to get no mercy shown.
