I've listened to this track probably upwards to about 500-800 times now before seeing your reaction video, and I was getting chills seeing your discovery of this mastery like it was the first time I've listened to it, too.
My first time hearing them too. When they were new I was not ready for harsh vocals, but now I am and they sound so good! Thanks for checking them out, gonna listen to the album now for sure :)
I saw these guys by accident the first time round! Used to do gig posters for the local venue in Swindon, UK in exchange for free entry and drinks while at uni, and Rolo happened to pass through sometime in '07. Huge stage, nearly empty room, Eva had a sore throat, and they had stamps on their hand because they were under 18. Went away with their first EP, which blew my mind at the time, but if you had told me they'd not only still be going 15 years later, but also be darlings of the prog/math scene, I probably would have scoffed and not believed it. Time makes fools of us all, thankfully.
Man, Rolo are so sick. This new album, good as it is, isn't even their best work imo. You've got a treat in store if you go for a deep dive into their catalogue. From the early jazzy, chaotic mathcore days into the more refined mathcore + post-rock/shoegaze they've produced over the last three records. Seeing them next week :)
This band is VERY high on my to-see-live bucket list. Knew you'd dig them. One of the most creative and distinctive bands I know of

It's a great album, but make sure to listen to the previous one, Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It - it's their magnum opus IMO
