Dikembe Mutombo was a true legend and a source of pride for Africa. He gave generously, both his love and financial support, to his hometown, building schools, creating opportunities for young people to play basketball, and establishing hospitals in a region where 7.5 million live in poverty. It's heartbreaking that life is so uncertain and unfair-good people like him are taken too soon, often by illnesses like cancer. The world needs more people like Mutombo, whose efforts made it a better place, to live long and continue their impact. Rest in peace, Dikembe Mutombo.
Wow!! This Philadelphia 76ers fan has a broken heart hearing this news about Dikembe Mutombo. He was a big part of that 2000-01 Sixers team, and they had the entire city and region behind them; we were really proud of that team! RIP Dikembe 💙🏀❤
Dikembe Mutombo has done so many great things throughout his career, but personally as a Rockets fan, I remember him for his impactful contributions as a Rockets center. Even in his older age, he was unselfish, and played his role to the best of his ability. And when Yao went out with an injury, he filled in his spot perfectly and helped boost the Rockets to a 22 game win streak! Fly High Mount Mutombo! 🕊️
Denver Nuggets nation is deeply saddened by loss of Dikembe Mutombo. A true legend on and off the court, and the best defensive player in Nuggets history. We were honored to have you, blessings upon your soul.

Had the privilege of meeting Dikembe Mutombo briefly during NBA All Star Weekend 2017 in New Orleans. He graciously accommodated my request for a photo with his famous finger wag. A great player and an even greater person. The world is definitely a lesser place after losing him. May God rest his soul.
I met Dikembe Mutombo once while I attended the Houston bs Denver game in 07, the fact he gave a 14 year old me just 5 minutes of his time, showed how beautiful a person he was, asked me my hopes, my dreams, and he told me never give up, because nothing good comes of one who is lazy. Shannon Sharpe gave a great eulogy for Mutombo. I remember when he played for the Hawks, but I only really paid attention to the NBA during the playoffs back then. I'm sure he's everything they say he was.

Thank you Mutombo for your incredible journey in the NBA. May our Nugget, Hawk and 76er Guardian's soul rest in power with the sports legends and our lost ones who were sacrificed in the pandemic. R.I.P Dikembe Mutombo. I have watched him play throughout his nba career. He belonged with some of the greatest centers to ever play in nba history. He was a hell of a defensive player, shot blocker, and rebounder. Dikembe brought his best on the court every single game. He was also a great mentor to some of the younger players. His humanitarian efforts off the court speak for themselves. Mutombo was a great man with a big heart. We shall miss him. We need to give credit and talked about the the former great players from the past more often; not just only on a selected few. These great former players deserve their flowers and respect while they're still alive.
