I found this song when I was in a dark time in my life and everytime I listen to it, it just brings everything back up but its the feeling of knowing I'm better now and way healthier that makes me love that feeling again.
@@eliscott5274 I believe the chaisnmokers were raised in a very conservative environment (the east) so they have some of those conservative values that liberals hate (the west coast), so they struggled with that to be able to have succeed in the music industry. That's why I think he saids he lives in a "prision" because he has a very competitive mentality and had to suppress his inner conservative (his true identity) in order to enter the music industry which is extremely liberal dominated. He kinda lost himself and I'm glad they letting that side of them come out with this song.
I'm interpreting a lot of the song to be about how certain others can view him as a 'sick boy' because of his (political) views, perhaps specifically - he says he's "from the East side of America" which could be referring to the political 'right' and that he "lives in the West side of America" could be referring to the political 'left' as well. The song describes each 'side' in a similarly negative light which could denote the contrast but also similairty between the Left and the Right in America: "we're united under our indifference (gun click)".
@@1DOWN3R that depends on how you define falling apart and what exactly you count as part of the concept of America and what you perceive it to be counting all the bias from literally everything

I know a lot of people are joking around, but this is truly one of the deepest songs I have yet to come across and I want to share what it means to me. TL:DR, People are always going to fight over politics/religion/social media and they'll always be divided by them. They forget to remember that we're all human. Love how this song talks realistically about our World as it is right now, and touches on politics in an appropriate and meaningful way. The "west" and "east" sides of America stands for different political views. The song shares that both sides have flaws. "We choose pride over character." "They spin lies into fairy dust." "Desensitized by hysteria". They summarize this idea with "we can choose sides but this is us." We can be divided by our beliefs, but we are ALL STILL HUMAN. That won't change and we should be kind to each other... "I live in a prison that I built myself, it's my religion." To me, as an atheist, is a beautiful line. This can be taken as a show of how people also often argue about religion/try to force religion onto others to the point where they feel trapped (the reason why I myself am now an atheist). Or it could just be taken as the fact that the singer religiously builds up these walls for themselves to survive in society/protect themselves. They're the "sick boy" because they don't follow everyone else's views. "United by our indifference". They just want to live their life and be happy, but everyone is calling THEM the "sick boy" for standing up against/not participating in the political/religious feuds, if you will. They really don't care, and don't listen to others about this thing. They may also themselves feel like the "sick boy" because they don't fit today's unrealistic standards, and they feel like they should. "Feed yourself with my life's work." The sad truth is a lot of people don't create any like-changing theories or inventions. Most people just benefit the world by being kind or doing small things. Or if someone begins something huge, it could be continued by the next generation after that said person has already passed on. There's so much pressure to do great things, when you really should just try and be the best person you can be. Because in the end, when it's your time to pass on? The world will go on. The next generation will live in the society that you helped to create along with everyone else. "How many likes is my life worth?" I assume this is about social media, wondering how much they'll have to sacrifice of who they really are to be socially accepted on social media which has taken over the world. Everyone is on their phones, but that addiction can be formed by seeing everyone else always on their devices and wanting to fit in with all of them. How many likes on the screen is a whole person's life worth, when they pour their heart and soul into getting these validating pixels? Anyhow, thanks if you finished this whole rant. I really relate to this song and I just believe that everyone should be kind to each other. So stranger, if you found this somehow and am still reading this...I love you
@@chocobunnie1236 nuuuu think about all the people that love you and care for you don't think about the negative effects of your life, think the opposite I care about you and I'm sure alot care about you so dont give up and keep going. @@vlinnstone6919 maybe people like that the Chainsmokers, a very generic pop group, is trying to make good music. I am a Twenty One Pilots fan and I hate most of the Chainsmokers music, but I like this song because it sounds like Twenty One Pilots.
This song fits my OC so much! He's always been in his Sister's (Main Characters') shadow, and when he fell in love with the antagonist, who was killed by Main Character's love interest, who was also killed by the antagonist. (Kill each other at the same time situation) OC feels he must finish what antagonist started, teaming up with Leader3 and Main Antaginest to destroy Main Clan. If you want more, just ask!
Mine too. His father got killed and he felt his duty as future king was to kill his father's killer, yet his new found ideology is the idea he is superior and then he goes down a dark path. He thinks he is the good guy with just different views.
Right now its basketball season and my coach makes us listen to this song before our games to get us pumped up...WE GOT FIRST PLACE IN BOTH OF OUR TOURNAMENTS!!
Now I may be incorrect with this thought, but I think the whole purpose of writing this song was to show how much of our lives as Americans are taken up by social media and popularity. Your life is worth more than the likes you get, and definitely much more than someone who you are not. Social media is filled with a web of lies, and people are too stuck up with being someone who they wish to be when they have forgotten themselves. The "Sick Boy." (If you disagree, please don't be hateful)

Or maybe people dislike it for being a discount 21 Pilots song?
@@vlinnstone6919 maybe people like that the Chainsmokers, a very generic pop group, is trying to make good music. I am a Twenty One Pilots fan and I hate most of the Chainsmokers music, but I like this song because it sounds like Twenty One Pilots.
HAHA SO TRUE
I sang this in a school talent show and won i listen and sing to it every month as a reminder of how this song made me popular
who is here 2024
This song fits my OC so much! He's always been in his Sister's (Main Characters') shadow, and when he fell in love with the antagonist, who was killed by Main Character's love interest, who was also killed by the antagonist. (Kill each other at the same time situation)
OC feels he must finish what antagonist started, teaming up with Leader3 and Main Antaginest to destroy Main Clan.
If you want more, just ask!
That sounds really cool!
I want more pls
Beautiful
This song also fits one of my OCs... but he’s not like yours
Mine too. His father got killed and he felt his duty as future king was to kill his father's killer, yet his new found ideology is the idea he is superior and then he goes down a dark path. He thinks he is the good guy with just different views.
0:42 hits so hard

Favorite song I'm from America
Now I may be incorrect with this thought, but I think the whole purpose of writing this song was to show how much of our lives as Americans are taken up by social media and popularity. Your life is worth more than the likes you get, and definitely much more than someone who you are not. Social media is filled with a web of lies, and people are too stuck up with being someone who they wish to be when they have forgotten themselves. The "Sick Boy."
(If you disagree, please don't be hateful)
