gold leaf always looks appalling as it is being applied but splendid when done by someone who knows their art - i thought the small reclining Buddha was wonderful!! - 24k gold leaf is really 23.5k - its an oddity of production.....😊😊😊 the lacquer guy was wonderful too!!

what's the point of the gold dust on the beetle when they cover it with black later? seriously somebody explain please
The black lacquer is lightly translucent allowing the gold dust to reflect light, giving a sense of depth to the image.
