I see the tone capture as every guitarists wet dream. Have a pedal that you're not completely satisfied with eq wise? Tone capture and adjust it to your liking. Like if you have say a DS-1 that's always been a little too bassy for your liking, capture it, adjust the bass down and some mids up, and you have your perfect DS-1 without doing any actual circuit work to it

The capture feature is absolutely amazing, I'm looking for a virtual amp for recording. This may be it, they are so smart to get it out there for free and in peoples hands, so to say. Great overview review.
To my taste, GE Labs gives most accurate and realistic sound I could get out of many apps… Its amazing! Sad, that newest Mooer Prime P1 not supports import of such samples…Maybe one day with update…
I'm blown away by how good this thing sounds for free. I honestly believe it sounds Better than Most of the stuff you have to pay for, and some of them are fairly expensive and more importantly none of which have the ability to capture....
Would you ever, or have you ever, consider doing a video going over your playback rig/how you build your tracks?? Learned a ton from this channel, thanks!!
I'm having nothing but trouble with the capture feature. I follow the diagram for the hookup and I have nothing but terrible feedback. I get a warning of too much noise or target volume too low. Nothing works as shown in this video and I cannot figure out what is happening. Has anyone had a problem like this?
Great video.... thx for uploading. I have a few question. You mention that you are using a Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen unit. I have a IK multimedia unit Axe I/O. Can I do the same? What cable would I need to get my unit plugged into my iPad? Do I need a specific driver?
Not sure about the axeio whether it has a lightning connector built in like the irig devices but if it’s one of the older iPads take a look at the camera connection kit which will do the job. There are 2 versions, one that will input to the iPad and the other which will allow it to charge too. If you have a usbc iPad Pro then any comparable usbc hub or adapter will work. Worth double checking that the axeio has core audio driver support (99% sure it does) if so it’s plug and play 👍
Good luck getting it set up, I’ve been using iPad for recording and guitar fx for a long while with a rme baby face (formerly using an irig pro) and Cubasis and bias fx among others. Also using a blue board midi controller. There are some great apps and fx so a great sounding and flexible portable solution.
I am loving this software. I run everything through an IRig2 right into my audio interface and into Reaper to do some recording. So much fun and sounds good.
@@Shavehz247 the quality is amazing for a free app like this. So many options. I run my Ibanez into an iRig 2, that plugs into my iPhone, runs into my audio interface and then into my computer. Awesome thanks. I have a Scarlett 4i4. I may be able to Loopback record or something. If not, I do have an iRig but yea, if I can play into Ableton, I would be so stoked. I can not record that good on Mobile Apps like Garageband & Cubasis. Way too hard.
Check out the Preset I made for November Rain. I love this GE Labs App too. This is the closest I’ve got out of any mobile App, even beats my Amp as to how close the sound is, lol

Wow… I’ve just downloaded this app and can’t wait to have a go with it tomorrow. The capture feature has got me wondering. But in the meantime could I play a TH-cam demo of the freqout into the ge lab app and get a cool feedback tone / replication to play with? Cheers Gary

This is good albeit a bit buggy. Also the reverbs aren't very defined and sound nothing like a spring, room or hall. They sound very washy. You really have to dial back the decay and mix to get anything usable.

This may be a silly question, but how did you manage to plug the focusrite into your iPad? Did you need some kind of adapter/external power source to facilitate that?
For alot of interfaces you can make it work but it takes a few pieces: Apple "Camera Kit" which is a lightning to USB adapter. Normally a cheap USB to lightning won't cut it. Powered USB 3 hub You would plug the Camera kit into the ipad, the USB hub into the kit and then finally the interface into the powered hub. The hub is necessary in this case because and ipad/phone won't supply enough power to the device. Some interfaces are IOS compatible. The one I've used is a Presonus AudioBox iOne (and two). This one has an IOS USB on the back that just uses the USB to lightning charge/data cable and then a computer style A/B USB cable that you plug into something like your phone charger for the power. Since it's class compliant and by how you can power it, you don't need the camera kit and powered hub.
I do this using the focusrite isolo, it’s a USB interface that also come with a port and cable for plugging the interface directly into the iPad. It was fairly cheap also. I think maybe around 140ish Canadian for a refurbished model
can the presets/profiles in the sim cloud be loaded into the ge300? this was a failure on positive grids part, imo, with the spark library & bias head. I realize the bias head is amp only, no effects, but allowing all your gear/apps that share an engine to use the same cloud library should be a no-brainer at this point. sadly, the only company to get that part right so far is line 6.
@@johnthomson5315 Which headphone-amp do ye mean? I think it isn´t that pricey! A Focusrite Scarlett, a camera connection-kit and a USB-Hub is well below 200 bucks.
