I’m a huge fan of the Marx brothers. I loved their Paramount films the best. Groucho was 81 in this clip. Funny, sharp, witty, and honest. At this age and stage of his life, he didn’t care. He said what he meant and meant what he said. RIP, thanks for the laughs.
Wow! I'm not 40 years old yet, but I remember watching the old Marx Brothers movies, and just knowing that a person saw this interview live, that's pretty cool. It was a different world back then.
Wow, that's cool! I was born in 81 and I almost don't remember what it was like not to have the internet at my fingertips. What was NYC like in the 60s and 70s?

My god! Groucho and Capote on the same stage! This is what I miss about talk shows today. They keep all the guests separate rather than having all of them on the same stage.
Never share a talk show with Groucho. While we're all stuck in reverse he's in 4th gear. He had about the quickest wit of anyone I ever saw and it was clean humor too. All you can do is just step aside and let him burn rubber.

Then you would take out your money, that you stored in your wallet or just your pocket and pay for what ever item you ordered. I remember ordering a milkshake once, which is a drink that is usually made with milk..."

What is especially striking is not how naturally funny Groucho is which most knew already but how learned he is. He knew about Truman Capote's work whereas and would discuss other writers specific to the topic with all their work being familiar to him.
I really enjoyed the 1969 Groucho interview, he was so sharp - yet 2 years later, I can't help but hear Gilbert Gottfried's old Groucho impression here.
