In a perfect world where Hasbro didn't do stupid things, the vhs cyclops would have an optic blast effect.
I don’t like the vhs versions visor looks off
One of my big problems with VHS Cyclops is his pinched in visor, so neither have great head sculpts to me. But I think as an overall package, I prefer the new one. The head sculpt is a bit weird (and looks way too young) but other than that it's a good figure. Plus... Mafex is never reissuing their Jim Lee Cyclops, are they? This is the best I can do!

I remember when the VHS Cyclops came out, all I heard about the head sculpt was "Conan O'Brien"
I'm not too bothered by the head sculpt being that I keep in mind that they are going for an animated styling. Do I like the animated Gambit head as much as the new comic version? Definitely not, but I factor in that it's based on the upcoming cartoon.

Just got this guy the other day from Walmart, and I honestly love him. The colors, sculpt and overall look are so much better compared to my Warlock BAF Cyclops, it's like night and day.
I'm buying this just because of the optic blast accessory
Why are people complaining that figures based on the animation look……animated?!?
Some have that complaint, but my complaint is that even based on the animation, it doesn’t look good.

I have the VHS Cyclops, and I love that figure. I’m thinking about buying this figure, taking the optic blast head and then selling the base figure for like $20. I just don’t like the main head.

I think the idea with the head you do not like was to give him kind of a smile expression (which doesn’t go with Cyclops). But at least the beam head is great! I agree that head looks bad!
In a perfect world, the VHS Conan O'Brien Cyclops wouldn't have come with an uneven knife slash for a visor lens, stupid cel-shading that looks like your dog pissed all over it, and a price hike average of a HUNDRED DOLLARS for the poor bastards who ACTUALLY wanted it (for some dumb reason). It's not even worth a quarter of that to begin with. For those of us who passed on it, I can say I'm 110 percent happy with passing VHS Eyesore up, and the subsequent over-priced hikes that came after it, to be able to buy 97 Cyclops with the decent assortment of accessories, thank-you fanboys very much. 👍👍 Time to bury it and stop comparing it as if it's the Holy Golden Testicle.

all of these 97 figures are so meh in my opinion...they just don't look right to me... I'm hoping Hasbro restarts the VHS line again cel shading or not those will be the only Real Jim Lee X-Men for my shelf.

Honestly, probably the weakest of the 97 line.
The VHS cyclops is the superior figure so far. So happy I bought that whole VHS line
VHS has paint the skin tone, and WTF Hasbro, what happen with that visor?, new face has paint in the blue, that adds more durability to the fig.

‘97 is the best valued Cyclops with all its accessories. The VHS was a premium which was an easy pass and a rerelease would come eventually… who would’ve known it would’ve come with an inferior head sculpt. Just gotta go custom at this point.
Glad I removed the cell shading from the VHS version, this is a big time pass for me.
The 97 head does look a little young. Like he's from X-men evolution.
Personally I like the cell shading on the VHS box. I dislike it didn't come with an energy effect or an energy effect head.
I think the body is almost perfect. They get these figures on lower ball torso's with the abcrunch, that would be super.
Then increase the range of the biceps swivel. I heard it was a safety issue which doesn't make any sense as the mods haven't show any safety issue.
I do wish they had made the upcoming Cable in the same way as this Cyclops with the sculpt for the straps on the legs and ab crunch.
I think the hair is too long on this one.
The new Cyclops's head is significantly bigger than the VHS one, that's why I always thought since the promo pics were revealed, the new one looked off. Also, the giant hands on the new one don't help the looks either 😂
I like they tried something different for his face but it's too soft and too light. It needs more detail. Damn. Maybe a bit of stubble could help and a wash?
I'm getting this figure and doing a head swap.
I have the other Marvel Legends Cyclopes but this body really captures that Jim Lee look.
The only other alternative would be the MAFEX figure and I'm not willing to pay that much for an action figure...again.
I like this new figure, It`s not perfect but is a good version. I don´t like the VSH head, it´s too square and the visor is crappy. The best cyclops head is the one in the Warlock wave, that´s a proprer Jim Lee style.
That head sculpt is really bad. Almost makes me want to go back and get the VHS version just for that head swap but I think I’ll just pass on both of them and wait for another comic version release. Hopefully it’ll have a better head and no seams on the forearms.
This is my first Cyclops figure in a looong time and I’m happy with it. The headsculpt on some of the older releases are definitely better than this one. May track one of ‘em down for this fig since they all swap. Same with Nightcrawler and his sword hand.

Nothing about this figure matches the artwork. As you can see his body is much slimmer and the head sculpt is slimmer as well. The only reason to get this figure is if you don’t want the cell shading and to get the head with the optic blast.
Yes I agree, I bought this but when I got it I was kind of like "why did I buy this" lol. So he's staying on card for now. The VHS one is better but it would have been cool if it came with the blast effect.
Imho I prefer the yellow visor on this new Cyclops than the VHS one with a red line that is so uneven.
I do not mind the head sculpt.

i thoiught the same thing with the head sculpt
I pre-ordered this figure off Amazon on February and it's as close as we can get to a Jim Lee Cyclops without the straps falling off or being loose. It's perfect since this version of Cyclops is my favorite.
Yep, his head definitely looks derpy.
The head sculpts don't bother me the animation style is different so it will look a little different. Simple solution you don't like it don't buy it. I have my full opinion on it in my review on my channel
Both new head sculpts are horrendous. And that Nutella hair piece and the way the head sits on the neck is just awful. I've been waiting for a definitive Jim Lee Cyclops for a long time, but this doesn't cut it.
