      Blizzard didnt concieve it... If the rumours hold true Starcraft was meant to be W40K but differences of opinion split them away from W40k. Warhammer is WAY older than Blizzard games, Blizzard merely switched it too pc from tabletop. Their MOST popular games were concepts STOLEN from GW.

    Forgeworld have succeeded with their knights where GW proper have struggled, i feel. All of the knights feel distinct from each other, the mechanicum knights have their own aesthetic. The 'basic' knights have theirs, all the while having enough commonality to look good together.
    GWs knights look so samey, its such a shame that over the years as they added sprues to the base kit that the only nod individualizing your knights was face plates. I would have loved to see a sprue for mechanicus knights with distinct armor plates and maybe a weapon unique to them. And the same for both knightly houses and freeblades.

  • @IVIaskerade
    @IVIaskerade 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Acastus Knights feel very much like there was a plastic imperial and resin mechanicus design for each as there is with all the other knights, but at the last minute GW decided that both of them were going to be made by forge world instead. Possibly because they realised that "holy crap giving players the Porphyrion in regular games would be ridiculous".

  • @DanRobinsonsweg
    @DanRobinsonsweg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The ammo feeds are great, the reason they're missing from the regular kits is because you can't bend plastic like you can with resin. It'd leave only one pose on a huge, center piece kit, or need to be in a bunch of extra parts. Would be cool to see fw produce an extra parts kit to add them though

    I've got 2 of each cerastus painted and, yup, the atrapos looks the best, however there are a few bits of wierdness in the design when it comes to painting it. I had to drop shadow the petals on the black hole gun to make it look like it had armour plates, as there is no separation. there's also some awkward choices on the lascutter. but.. boy, beautiful model, I was the only one to take one to the LVO... and I took two:)

    Seeing some of these Knights made me want a Transformers tabletop game.
    Most Cybertronians would be normal pieces like Space Marines but there's larger pieces like Combiners, Titans & Citybots. Devastator, Omega Supreme & Trypticon being respective examples.
    Combiners could work in that you have normal pieces for each component bot that must be on the field and close together before their Combine ability can be activated, swapping all 5 or 6 figures for the larger combined mode figure.
    Otherwise gameplay would probably play just like the 40k tabletop.

    • @J_Warral
      @J_Warral 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It technically is. If we can solve the balance and stride issues (and obviously, power requirements), two-legged platforms are far more universal than treads or wheels, especially on the rugged terrain of all kinds.

    • @X3._.n3
      @X3._.n3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@J_Warral yeah but what about the bit where it cuts ears of corn with a chainsaw sword? And even if legs are the best way to move, I doubt it would take such a recognisably human form.

    • @J_Warral
      @J_Warral 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@X3._.n3 well...
      1). Funny enough, but any bipedal machine will be exactly as close to human as possible - simply because human body is the most efficient bipedal platform, capable of fantastic balance control and terrain traverse. Mother Nature and b*tch-queen Evolution took care of that - we wouldn't be dominant species on the planet if our locomotion system wasn't overall the best one.
      2). About Knights and Corns. You're making the common mistake of comparing 40K to a modern world. Knights weren't made to cut the corn - they weren't made for the tame Earth-like environments at all. Want an example of what they were made for? House Vyronii hails from a world
      Damaetus III - a planet covered entirely in massive forests and swamps. How massive? *Small trees* on
      Damaetus III could be *dozens of meters* wide in thickness - and biggest ones were dozens of kilometers thick and reaching up to the stratosphere.
      Now that massive chainsword suddenly makes way more sense, right?
      Here's another small tidbit. Those massive trees often had hollowed out, rotten cores, which were used as lairs by
      Damaetus III's native species - cephalopod-mammalian hybrid Xenos, with limited intelligence and massive, raw psychic power, which they used to literally fry minds of their victims and consume them. Each one of those semi-intelligent Xenos-beasts was capable of killing hundreds of humans for one meal and only strongest of will, only in Knight's Thrones, could resist their push.
      P.S. This is the thing that many fans forget. 40K's galaxy isn't like our Earth. Earth is relatively tame by the galaxy standards - we have no killer-flora of Catachan, no brain-eating octopus-Xeno-beasts that reach hundreds of meters, no vulcanic hellish conditions of
      Dragon's End and so forth and so forth.
      Don't compare 40K to our tame Earth, please.

    • @X3._.n3
      @X3._.n3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@J_Warral we're the dominant species because we're smart and have fine manipulation ability through our hands. The pilot provides the first of those and if you need the second you use something smaller than a knight, so a knight wouldn't really have need of a head, and there's no reason for it to have two main arms. imo the most efficient method for one with just guns would just be all those weapons just sitting directly on the legs.
      Also, isn't assuming the whole galaxy is like Daematus III just as narrow as assuming it's all like earth. Sure a chainsword could be useful, but I don't see why they would be a standardised thing, more like an extra if you need it.

    • @J_Warral
      @J_Warral 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@X3._.n3 so the apes have five fully articulated fingers. Except their weight balance, especially when moving forward, isn't even remotely as good as ours. Whilst I am not saying that bipedal form is the only reason for human dominance, it is one of the many key ones.
      Guns on legs?... what?...
      Also, whilst not entire galaxy is like Daematus III (but a large part of it is - humans and Earth are generally tender meat if you'd look at conditions and species of 40K, by galactic standards), Knights weren't deployed on every world - only on the worlds where they were needed.
      Also, I start to suspect, that you really don't know anything about 40K - otherwise, you'd know that Reaper Chainsword is indeed modular - in fact, *entire Knight frame is modular,* with a vast array of tools/weapons to choose from.
      But seeing you over-focused on Reaper Chainsword (which, by the way, can be used to cut even rocks), I suspect you really don't know much about 40K.

    Atapos is my favorite cerastus. The Acheron is a close second, the Lancer is third, and the Castigator is my least favorite.
    I just can't get over how ridiculous it is to have such little articulation for it's sword arm. If you want to pose it in a resting state, you have to bend the entire arm below the elbow just to point the tip of the blade downwards. If the Castigator had articulation at the wrist, or if the sword was arm-mounted tonfa style, I would like it much more. However, for reasons unknown, FW has decided not to give you the option of acceptable slashing poses out of box.

    Haven’t watched all the video yet, doesn’t the castigator have the ammo belt you want?
    (Yeah it did; never mind)
    I own the castigator, they are a pain to put together.
    I want the Atropos. Of course.
    Personally I reckon the acastus porphyrion is great too. That chunk of resin looks like the terminators roided up big brother. While I can see people fearing the Atropos, i reckon the Porphyrion properly causes terror ( *2nd edition reference intentional)

    The Asterius reminds me of Big O (the show, not the titular robot) for some reason. I can't quite say why, but it looks like a Megadeus, and it's my favorite FW knight for that reason alone.
    If y'all don't know what I'm talking about, go track down the series right now. We're all cooped up home anyway. Might as well watch some great anime.

    Everything from the Prophyrion to the end of the video look like they should be Chaos. Something about the proportions of them compared to the Questoris Knights just have a look that puts me in mind of Chaos taint.
