    Thank you for all your help.

    • @chamberscourses7638
      @chamberscourses7638  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't change anything. The reason for this is that they fit snug when they're first made regardless, and will shape around the wearer's foot. So the lining doesn't make too much of a difference to the finished size. I hope that makes sense?

    • @chamberscourses7638
      @chamberscourses7638  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, very soon! Any special requests? I have a couple more beading techniques to demonstrate and then I thought I'd show some ways to alter the moccasin pattern to make different styles.

  • @mykidsproject9469
    @mykidsproject9469 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love your videos! My question is: can you sew the lining in at the same time as assembling the moccasin? I fear that if they are sewn in separately, the toe bit will separate as they are taken off & as I am making for a child I think there may be frustration involved when she goes to put them on and having to fiddle to get the lining back in. Thank you!

    • @chamberscourses7638
      @chamberscourses7638  ปีที่แล้ว

      I probable wouldn’t do them together because of the bulk it would create for the toe seam. But you could tack the lining into the toe after you insert it. Just hide the stitches in the “ditch” of the seam. (I hope this makes sense)

  • @dawngriffiths6804

    Hi! Just came across your channel and saw the AMAZING creative videos you have and I've subscribed. :-) I'm inspired.. so going to have a go at making a pair of mocassins.
    But have a quick question; I bought a pair of vintage mukluks/mocassin boots. They're absolutely stunning and I love them. But unfortunately they're about half a size too small. They're just pinching my toes even without socks on. And I was hoping to wear socks with them in winter.. Do you have any ideas or experience in stretching out leather moccasins? Open to any ideas... I'll do literally about anything to be able to get these boots to fit. Ty in advance for your time. Regards Dawn 🙏🏾

    • @chamberscourses7638
      @chamberscourses7638  ปีที่แล้ว

      In your situation I might remove the lining and replace with something lighter. Then once they stretch around your foot try reintroducing the original liner?

    Great series. Thank you for the detailed information. One question. Do you secure the fur strip after turning it so it stays turned out? Or does it stay turned out on its own?

    • @chamberscourses7638
      @chamberscourses7638  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should stay turned out on its own. If it isn't you can tack it down at two spots where the fur meets the vamp. Just lift the fur and sew only the leather. The fur will hide your stitches. Alternatively, you can make a small adjustment as seen in this video (by me).

    If you were to make these for outdoor wear, would the main difference be the type of leather used? Or would you need to make more adjustments?

    • @chamberscourses7638

      You might want to use non-sueded leather, and a good weather protectant, and add a rubber sole to protect your feet a little.

    I am following along and making a pair of moccasins but I've run into a problem. The wool melton that I'm using for the vamp is fraying. I tried sewing it to the moccasin but the material does not seem strong enough. I beaded on it already. Do you have any ideas on how I can fix this problem? Thank you for your insight.

    • @chamberscourses7638
      @chamberscourses7638  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's a few things you can do.
      1) Buy a fusible interfacing from a fabric store and iron it onto the back of your work. Because the fusible is non-woven, it can't fray, and will bind up all the edges in its' adhesive (show this reply to the people at the fabric store if it doesn't make sense to you).
      2) Before sewing, use a blanket stitch all the way around the perimetre of the vamp in order to neaten all the edges and prevent fraying.
      All the best. Let me know if you need further help.

    • @chamberscourses7638

      You'll need to adjust how much "height" you give. So the border around the foot (measurement 1-3, for example) should be shortened to maybe 2.5cm. Otherwise it'll work, yes. Let me know if you run into trouble.
