I have to say I was up in Blackpool this month for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I give full credit to the tram conductors who are operating solo on very busy services due to staffing shortages and they still manage to have a smile on there faces.🏴best wishes Stephen 👍
Stephen you work so hard, plus you tirelessly support and promote Blackpool. Really the Blackpool Tourism Board should fund your incredible work. I loved today’s video, an informative and entertaining tram ride. Thank you 🙏.
Great video, nothing wrong with a tram journey! Wish I was there. Maybe do a video the entire length of the tram route sometime, or the Knott End ferry ?! Had some great value holidays staying at the Norbreck Castle so nice to see it again
I believe mother Hubbard chippy is highly recommend I’m going to try it one ☝️ day and I watched your video when you was in papa’s another restaurant I would like to try…you can’t come to Blackpool without trying fish and chips…oh I forgot also doughnuts 🍩 thanks 🙏 for another great video
Well that was an amazing video. I took that tram ride many times as a kid in the 1950s. What amazes me is how mutch the view has changed. Great video. Thanks
Thanks, brought back so many memories. The Lucky Star used to be my go to amusements when staying at the Withnell Hotel, it used to open very late. For a change I sometimes headed over to the South Pier, they had some great fruit machines too. Happy Days in Blackpool. Blackpool was bustling with people at the markets etc. Loved the big Beatties toy shop - think it was at the Hounds Hill shopping centre. Love the videos👍
Loved the tram ride Stephen 👍 I lived on Norbreck Rd and could see the castle from my bedroom so love that area, and yes the views are amazing, the beach looked so beautiful 😀Thanks again for doing that and pointing out some of the landmarks along the way is was very enjoyable 😀 enjoy your evening 👍Pauline from Blackpool living in Canada 🍁
I used to love the old trams and the sound and the movement that they made when riding them, and even the sound is just something very special when you are outside, something real about moving parts, the grating, and screeching made the trams what they were, though they were rather gloomy inside
@@Andy5634 But they are still operating on some weekends and holiday periods. The new trams offer much more comfort, speed, space and safety with easy access for the disabled and the elderly. Had this video been recorded on a "heritage" tram then we would be struggling to hear the commentary.
Stephen, did you know that the soon to open Lion and Albert Wetherspoon pub was very likely named after the Stanley Holloway song 'The Lion and Albert' about a boy who visited Blackpool Zoo?
Another great informative video Stephen . Enjoyed a stay at The Doric Hotel a few weeks ago . Would be good to see more from the tram - maybe Cleveleys to Fleetwood some day? Keep up the good work x
Hiya Steve. Wanted to do this when we where there earlier this month....sadly we did not. Hopefully next year. I felt I was in that tram with you. Thank you so much..really enjoyed this one. Stay safe from a loyal Blackpool fan in West of Ireland 🇮🇪
Awww Stephen, that was absolutely amazing, I love going on a tram. Your commentary was excellent, so much detail and delivered in a gentle David Attenborough style. I usually get a tram to look at the illuminations, but I couldn't when I was there last month, the trams were so busy I couldn't see anything. I know it's a tall order because you are very busy Stephen, but if you were able to do the tram journey in the evening sometime, while the illuminations are on I would really love that. I am just thinking the guy I thought was your friend looks like he is maybe your older brother. I thoroughly enjoyed that, thank you so much, I felt like I was on the tram, just going to watch it again xx
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Awww lovely. I watched the video again last night Stephen, "ding ding" 😂 The views from the stop at Norbreck were amazing, I love what you said "a bench with a view" that was so poetic xx
Glad you mentioned the old windmill I remember have my first snog outside it too many years ago . I mentioned a windmill it few week ago to few people they looked at me as if I was crazy lol
A few years ago my husband and I went to Blackpool by coach and we were booked in at the norbrek castle, it was a horrible place we were glad to get a tram to the centre and stayed out all day, we enjoyed the trams went to fleetwood then to bingo, then into the entertainments, that I heard fro your walkabouts that everything appears to be demolished, so you can tell it was 1996 the last time we went there so you know it well.
Re the steel framework at 4:03 when I came to Blackpool as a kid (seventies) we used to stay in the Beverley and Westbank hotel which used to be there.
You have discovered how immensely popular Blackpool trams are Stephen, I was in Blackpool 2 weekends ago, stayed at the Royal Carlton Hotel, and had my tram pass, between The Pleasure Beach and North Pier, the trams are so busy, the poor conductor doesn't stand a chance of collecting all the fares, and now, there's only 1 conductor on the tram where there used to be 2 in the main season
I liked your Tram ride from Sandcastle to the Norbeck Castle nice to see all the Hotels nice. View where you got off.It does go residential after Norbeck.
Great memories of Blackpool when based at Weeton camp in 1983 - 1985....used to use The Crown as our local...changed its name a few times but visited back in 2019 on business and it had reverted back to The Crown...
Thanks for video.. Born and raised in Wigan so been to Blackpool many many times. Am now a US citizen living in Florida but visiting UK in September so may pop over to Blackpool for the illuminations and fish and chips. Been 6 years since I've been back to the UK so pretty excited!
Hi I’m an old sand grown as we say and want to thank you for the videos you do there really good to catch up on the pool as know live in Pembrokeshire wales at Pembroke castle we’re one of your ex relatives married a princes and my uncle built Fleetwood man6 years ago and I would like to make a request for videos if you can do that for me as I have not lived in Blackpool since 1989:I went to Revoe school infants and juniors and then Warbreck high I lived at 2 Kent rd central Blackpool and was on Blackpool lifeboat when the old lifeboat house was still there and then the Atlantic 21 I did 196 call outs between 74 until 82…..sorry I went of on a tangent then…please let me know about the video request……regards
Sorry Stephen I ended my previous message too early. The day trip the coach left London at 4am due to ridiculous traffic and Motorway delays we did not arrive in Blackpool until 4.30pm So we did not have long in Blackpool The Coach left Blackpool at 9pm and took us through the length of the illuminations. The lights were amazing those days I remember the lights were teapots pouring tea into cups. Going on 1 of the piers and those days you could have your picture taken with a chimp on your shoulder. Been meaning to come back, maybe one day. I so want to try the Italian Ice Cream parlour and have Chris's £1 Burger and play some prize Bingo and ride an illuminated tram. Thank you again Stephen, your streams are great Best wishes Regards Lee
Thanks for this video,I’ve been trying to find what hotel we stayed in a couple of years ago because we really liked it and now we’ve found it so thanks very much.Good video 👍
Excellent video Stephen, loved it, i hope you were sitting in one of the old cream and green trams with the itchy green seats, it's a great way to keep up with changes on the prom and you can do the journey back looking seaward, my only suggestion would be to have the camera at a slight diagonal to the glass rather than flat on as this will reduce the slight blurring effect when the tram picks up speed, looking forward to the next one
Thanks. I did notice the blur at speed and I wondered if it was the 25fps frame rate, or was it the fact that the shutter speed was not double the frame rate? i.e 1/50thsec, but then again I did not notice any rolling shutter, which is notorious with fast shutter speeds due to way the shutter open as a slit across the frame, although in this case I am using an iPhone, so it has an electronic shutter, but works in the same way I think. I am learning ways of getting better quality video. I already lock white balance where I can, and I sometimes use manual exposure when panning, to stop those wild exposure changes from dark areas to bright.
This tram is for Fleetwood ferry, next stop tower. This tram is for Fleetwood ferry, next stop north pier ect ect. Great transport but over crowded in the summer.
Hi Stephen, as always a great Vid. As an exile in Chesterfield, its really nice getting a 'fix' of my town. Any chance of a continuation of the tram ride to Cleveleys or Fleetwood? and maybe an indepth one of Stanley Park? Keep up the great work. Steve from Derbyshire
I remember school swimming lessons at Cocker Street baths in the late 60's led by the legendary 'Bomber Brooks' of Monty Sec Mod. It was a truly grim place!
Great Stream Stephen as always Shame it was a modern tram I do love the old trams. I have only been to Blackpool twice as a teenager in the Early 80's First time was a 1 night stay, 2nd time was a days coach trip
I done this very same journey on Friday but thought i would watch your video as i always enjoy your narrative of events. It's interesting that you mention the Tyldesley family as when i watch Blackpool FC i pop in to the Tyldesley Conservative Club for a drink {I'm not sure if there is any connection?} I think the beauty of the Blackpool tram & bus service is that 24 hour day ticket they do which ofcourse lasts for a full 24 hours regardless if it spans across 2 days at a cost of only £5.50.
God those old trams der der der Der. The vibration of the track joining points...very sad i know but brilliant memories going from Broadwaters to Starrgate in 1970s
I was thrilled to hear that Blackpool is starting to recover following this wretched pandemic especially the Hotels but I do think The Norbreck Castle Hotel should have had some work done on it by now ! (Come on Britannia ,you can do it!)

Really enjoyed that, commentary was fascinating.
Went on that tram in the summer first time been Blackpool in 12 years great knowledge as usual
Great tram ride it seems so far it must make appreciate all the walking you do 👍
Thank you Stephen as always. I'm like yourself i never take the bus or the tram. I walk for miles.

Totally agree with this comment the old trams were the main attraction in my opinion not the same without them

I wasn't going to watch this one, but I'm so glad I did. Learned loads. Great commentary, as always. Thanks!!
