took me 25 hours of reading stuff and playing to figure out wtf was happening and i still didnt. ending hit me hard as a rock. teared up and everything
Kojima is one developer I will never doubt again. I was somewhat doubting this when ppl were calling it a UPS simulator based on the trailers, but in the end, to whatever extent it really is a UPS simulator, this UPS simulator is one of the best games I've ever played. I loved everything about this game. I waited for the PC version and picked it up in 2020 and loved every second of it, and I"m playing it again in 2022 and maybe having even more fun. Kojima knows how to make an interesting story with compelling characters, present it in an awesome way, and the gameplay is always so freaking addicting and fun.
I was a big fan for a long while but after MGS5 I became very hesitant to play Death Stranding. Thankfully I came around and gave it a try because it was excellent and certainly up to par with his earlier work. My fears were unwarranted.
Coming from someone who can’t sit through a single story based game, this game is absolutely great, the story is amazing, the gameplay is amazing, and it’s awesome to see when other players leave behind strands that help you get through somewhere easier. I think having a recognizable actor like Norman Reedus as the protagonist definitely helped this game be #1 in my mind. Kojima knows how to make a real story game that’s also almost like a interactive movie that keeps you immersed, seeing a real product in the game like Monster (even though they patched it out) was a really nice touch. Kojima also knows when to perfectly add small humor bits in it which I only see done really well by Japanese creators so far they seem so quick witted.
Really love the game. The story is so unique and it's fun to know more about. Hideo did an amazing job as well as the other people who worked so hard to make this game alive.
_Sister Valerie_ just started couples days ago. Wasn’t sure if I would like it but I had to pick up Kojima’s first game with his own studio. So far I really like the game, it’s really relaxing and the graphics are next level
@@danieloceans9652 Look forward to getting the PC version then! Was considering it on PS4 at launch but recently got a new PC rig with an RTX 2080TI so will be a wonderful showcase when it gets a little cheaper for me
this is the best thing, I bought the game when it came out and I was flooded by thumbnails of spoilers, waited a year to actually start playing and it has been a joy. No spoilers just you experiencing the game bit by bit, figuring everything out, connecting the dots. Hideo doesn’t dissappoint.
I KNOW RIGHT! It's so relaxing it help with my anxiety and idk why people are saying it's boring it honesty is so easy on my heart instead and so therapeutic :0
In 2019 when the game first released, i stayed up until 4AM playing. Which is the time i had to get up and go to work(as a police officer). When I got home, I took of my uniform, ate a quick dinner, grabbed a bottle of scotch i had picked up on the way home, and sat it beside me and turned the game on. It was my friday so I had all weekend to sleep. Yet I found myself not able to put it away. I was exploring everything. I did the first couple of deliveries and after the first run in with BTs, I started walking. I explored as much as I could just to experience the environment due to it being so visually stunning and unique. This took me my weekend. The following work day, I was hospitalized due to a work related injury. When I got home, I had unfortunately resigned due to said injury. It was thought I would not be able to serve my country and community ever again(thankfully i have since recovered and am back full duty after a lot of time and healing). This...masterpiece. Is what helped me get through a very dark period. I never thought I would say that a videogame could help someone in reality but it did. Death Stranding connected me to a world I felt as though I would never connect to again. Of course i had my family, friends and loved ones which are always a primary condition of healing and so they were. But Death Stranding was a very welcomed addition to that. Mr Kojima, Mr Reedus, if the two of you ever see this, know that you truly have saved people lives and minds by the work you created. I have been a fan since Metal Gear, and a fan ever since The Boondock Saints. In a way I hope there is a sequel to Death Stranding. But if not, im also content with it being a single classic. Currently replaying and am doing more than before to help reconnect others.

The best thing about death stranding is “the feel”! They nailed the immersion & atmosphere. For all its flaws it’s a beautifully written story that nails everything it set out to do!
I've never even played the game but the ideas that Kojima brings, it might sound weird, but it kinda makes me wanna change my life, and I totally see reality in a different way. The world in this game, to me, seems like something that is completely possible. It's within the realm of reality and that's absolutely insane. Mechanized Afterlife? It's brilliant. Hideo is a Genius that should be held in an esteem as high as Salvador Dali or Shigeru Miyamoto. The dude joins brilliant ideas and near-psychedelic-spiritual realms into our life.
I started playing this game about a week ago. It's almost embarrassing how into it I am and how many hours I've logged over the past week. It's the best game I have played since The Last of US Part 1, which in my opinion is or was at the time, the best video game I have ever played. This game honestly is right up there in that category. TLOUS and DS are two games that truly sucked me in not just from the fantastic gameplay and artwork, but the story. This game has put me through all the emotions in a truly genuine way. This is a true masterpiece. Hideo truly outdid himself here and this feels like his life's work. I'm so excited for the 2nd one in 2025. Every single person that contributed to making this game come to life should feel the highest level of pride.
I've been playing games for nearly 40 years and there's only three games that have affected me so much. Red Dead Redemption 2, The Last of Us Part Two and Death Stranding. The word masterpiece is thrown around far too easily, but these three (for me) transcend the genre.
Haven’t played last of us, but I fully agree that red dead 2 was on a different level to any game before it, even the Witcher 3. Just picked up death stranding on pc yesterday and I’m already loving it
I really enjoyed Death Stranding. I'm glad Kojima got to realize a game that was his complete vision, and not shackled with limitations from a studio or a publisher. If Death Stranding is Kojimas ultimate vision for what he wants a game to be, I finally "get" his genius. It's hard to even call Death Stranding a "video game"...I call it a video game in the same way I call "Children of Men" a movie. Yeah, both Avengers and Children of Men are technically "movies"...but one is clearly an entirely different experience...that's how I feel about Death Stranding versus other games.
I am at Episode 3 in my second playthrough. My go to games are usually Skyrim, Fallout, Witcher 3. Death Stranding is a true masterpiece. I have about 200 hours in, and I have never seen distant object and cell pop in, and only once was there a little flashing glitch for about seconds as I was getting the motorcycle through some tight rocks. I have never played a game so polished and perfect. The story line is complex, nuanced, deep and meaningful. Something that is rarely seen in modern artistic endeavors. I understand Hideo Kojima has been passionate about reading Sci Fi and Literature since childhood. The game definitely reflects his literacy.
phenomical game. and Agreed with Norma, tech has advanced prety rapidly, i was born in 75 so grew up with pacman, asteroids, xenon but i have seen the progression in graphics and audio as have always remained a gamer. (PC)
Norman knows his role as Daryl Dixon in AMC Series The Walking Dead, Sam Porter in Death Stranding and Protagonist (unknown name) in Silent Hill when gameplay ending it has Norman cameo
I finally "got" death stranding when I was in the rocky mountains trapped in the middle of a blizzard, trying to soothe the baby while the only thing keeping you alive is this heating element thing strapped to your shoulder.
Less than a week until the Directors Cut. I couldn’t even wait for the full PS5 version, I just started another play through like 3 days ago. I love it so much.
their hard work paid off, amazing game as expected from the creative mind of Kojima, try the one of the most unique experiences in the gaming industry even after 3 years! big shoutout to the other developers creative minds as well as the cast, for giving it their all.
Playing it only now on my PS4 Pro, and must say enjoy most specifically the story, much more than the gameplay, since I was always kind of used to the stealth action Metal Gear series. Nonetheless, such a new dynamically refreshing game and love it as much as the Metal Gear series. The whole feeling and vibe of this new game is just plain amazing!
Just started playing death stranding I've only in it about an hour now and I definitely can see hideo kojima's unique mind he's my favorite game designer and one of The Inspirations for me entering the field the first thing I found funny was there was a bunch of monster cans in Norman's room early in the game

El mensaje del juego es conectar con las personas, lo curioso es que pocos meses después del estreno de Death Stranding las personas tuvimos que "desconectarnos" por la pandemia, gran juego, la primer obra de Kojima que consumo.
Interesting game content aside, Norman (Sam) was pretty much the main reason i kept playing because he really really does connect to you as a main character in no way any other character does. Its like every single step of the way you feel like you’re actually him
Gotta be completely honest... I never played a single game of kojima besides Metal Gear Solid 5 Ground Zeroes. It wasn't totally my gameplay interest, his games in generall. I enjoyed MGS5 but i came to a point of those missions that got bored 'cus it was repetitive. Then a decade later, give or take, i gave it a try on Death Stranding from PS5 and gotta say, this japanese guy is such a genious. Whem you heard about the word "out of the box" in games nowadays, this guy killed it with this huge game! Thanks Hideo for this masterpiece! I didn't reach the finish line but i'm half way there and don't want it to be over 🙏
I know this is old comment, but grounds zeroes is the demo disc, kinda like a prologue, mgs5 is the full release, “ technically not finished, because kojima was let go from konami so lots of the game got cut”
Love Norman and Kojima is Kojima, but howe about some recognition to his translator, I'm not an expert, but I think the guy is one of the best translators I've ever seen, its like he is doing voice over when he's doing his thing, feels so natural and easy to understand.
That guy who's translating must have 2 brains to listen to one person on one language and speak to another person on another language at the same time.
Just finished the game, kudos to Kojima and the team, actors. What a fucking game, one of the very best imo, this makes me why lot of ppl didn't like this game like just cus it ain't senseless "phew phew" and action since the get-go doesn't mean it ain't bad if you keep playing and actually pay attention to story it has to deliver cus it sure as hell is better than lot of movies/games. Actually bought something new and unique to the table, the acting was phenomenal too like holy fuck I felt some scenes, and dialogues.
The reason i like this game is that it's not an action game ,it's more of a game abt bringing ppl together and that's what I need ,i got bored of shoot kill repetition in every game.
Come after finish the game… I feel precise like norman said, commonly gain level and kill the boss, but this game style is making connection and feels like playing a movie and act as sam and the important thing is *i really undertstand what is the game all about after finish not in the beginning even in the middle of story* make my brain working so hard 😂😂
Imagine if this had came out early in the pandemic. It was sorta close enough, but things usually need to be really on the nose for most people to catch on. I played for a couple months after release and then sorta fell off, and never wanted to play it during the Pandemic, not for any reason to do with it, just my shitty ADHD whims weren't bringing me back around. So here I am in the early days of 2023 after a few weeks of it slowly building energy in my head and me seeing comments from others oddly happening to be thinking or doing similarly, I've finally started again. I'm scared as shit of BTs though, total little bitch behavior. I'm not usually the type to do so, but using the program WeMod on PC, you can use a set of free cheats that will allow you to - and this is the only thing I do - hide yourself from enemies. The odradek goes off but you don't even see the BTs pop up near you. It's sooo much less stressful. Yes it does take a little something from the game, but BTs are more of an annoyance than meaningful gameplay for much of the time you play, so eh. I might try to deal with them in small doses.
I love that Norman was like ''I don't know what in the fuck is going on in the story, but i'm doing it.''
took me 25 hours of reading stuff and playing to figure out wtf was happening and i still didnt. ending hit me hard as a rock. teared up and everything

I feel precise like norman said, commonly gain level and kill the boss, but this game style is making connection and feels like playing a movie and act as sam and the important thing is *i really undertstand what is the game all about after finish not in the beginning even in the middle of story* make my brain working so hard 😂😂
I love this Game 💀🖤🖤

BTs should become easier on your 2nd playthrough... You get the blood grenades, just gotta carry enough of them to take out all of them in the area.
Heyyya as the dude above said ,it'll get easier for you ! And there's fun in preparing to take on BTs head on as well!!
Such a farking awesome! Game
His voice resembles Jessy Pinkmans voice so much
