And this makes me glad I can lay the real thing 😀
Pillars aren't the easiest to lay
Technology is putting more and more tools in our hands to put you greedy thieves in your place.
And since this aired, even less people need your basic labor to do a simple job!!
Planning on doing this on the exterior of our house, but will use something besides OSB.
I saw a video where instead of O.S.B. a guy put cement board on a self supporting pressure-treated frame work. What do you think of that? I think a problem would be if there is a lot of exposure the cement board would not keep the wood dry, but it seemed to make sense in a way. I'd want a method that did not include sheathing and also included a moisture barrier.
Lovely job man!
Looks great and easy to do would you be able to tell me where you got the starter kit..thanks so much Fred
I would use water / vapor barrier and definitely seal the bottom of that OSB , just dust pet hair and dirt naturally collecting can build up under the columns and become saturated by normal rain or cleaning, this water can then be wicked up by the board and then your bottom OSB is swelling or rotting,,,I would also apply clear silicone at each stone seam to keep the water out, I don’t think rain would get in but normal every other year house washing water could get in,
Nice work
Beautiful. Thank you. My intention too
Great video, well explained too!!!
Looks great and the nice thing with that OSB board you didn’t bother wrapping with some kind of water proof membrane it’s going to rot out in a few years and you get to have fun all over again
Redguard...two coats...on all wood surfaces inside and out. Without a doubt, water will get in. Redguard will slow the rot process.
Living in the Pacific Northwest, how would I mitigate water damage and rot? I'm guessing treat the wood with a water sealer? I bought a house and I'm not sure what wood the posts are made of, my guess is they are pine. Thank you for the video and for any advice.
They use treated wood post all the time
I think to be safe, you can use water vapor wraps around the OSB board before installing this stone
Use pressure treated wood and/or 15lb roofing paper is ideal.
I need faux tabby concrete like was used in historical coastal homes, especially in the south. It was mixed with seashells. Suggestions?
That’s beautiful I would like to know where you order your panels stones and your tops pls do tell 😀
Hi Sylvia, somehow we just saw this comment! You can find your nearest dealer by entering your zip code on our dealer finder on our website: www.affinitystone.com/stone-veneer-for-sale
@@affinitystone7905 The dealers close to me don't know anything about this. Is there an online site?
very nice
I want to do this on my pool deck and currently my beams are metal and would like for the fake stone to go the full length of the berm
IMO, Osb board will eventually get damp from air moisture, and swell and rot. Looks good at first though
just went to your website and I don't see how to order. I'll look for other options.
do you have a brick veneer version?
Muchas gracias thanks you
A rachet strap or a couple rubber bungis works good to hold all four sides together before securing with screws
Nice what is the name or brand of the stones
What is holding the bottom of these stone sections?
My hopes and dreams
Where do you get that pretty color grey stone at?
Can i buy this product in Canada?
The one thing I don’t understand is applying something that should last forever over something that will rot.
You have to remember, most home builders/ contractors these days dont care about longevity. Its get it done quick, making it good as fast as possible, and start the next one. A pig with lipstick on.
Do you have any supplier’s in Ontario? Tnx
Hi Ed - not yet. Hoping to bring on some Canadian distribution soon!
No housewrap or tar paper? What the?
set up for rot
Absolutely! If the columns are being installed outside, you need to use house wrap or tar paper. Thanks for the comment!
That method demonstrated will ROT ALL TO HELL and back!!! What the heck??? how can you promote this product installation with any kind of conviction ???? I understand that your building a mockup but not sure about the method you're advocating
Why is this company posting a product that isn’t available hardly anywhere, buyer beware.
Could do without music . It is annoying
Hhh
Would be better without the cheesy music ffs!
