Love this video,I have been a Cat and Polaris rider for over 30 years bought a new 2023 900 r as my first ski doo. I can’t tell you how impressed and how much I absolutely love this sled!!!!!! The smart shocks are unbelievable, a total game changer and the pilot tx skis with the ability to raise and lower your carbides depending on conditions and aggressiveness is a welcome feature to me.. At 57 years old this sled has rejuvenated my excitement for riding all over again, I am like a kid in a candy store grinning with excitement with just the mention of this sled.. The power, ride and technology in this sled to me is hands-down the best snowmobile I’ve ever owned.. next winter can’t come fast enough. - Yooper 22
This XRS is the best 4 stroke sled Ski-Doo has ever built, period!! The Gen 5 handles way better compared to the Gen 4.(I own both). Comfortable, crazy power, great on fuel, no carrying oil, rips a rough trail when required, gauge with the BRP app has been flawless, at least so far :)
Loved the idea of a 2 stroke turbo but after weight comparison to the 4 stroke ur not really gaining much weight with 4 stroke. I would have ecu flashed on either or but i know ur gonna get more power on pump fuel 4 stroke than the 2 stroke. Im a cat guy been on turbo 4 strokes for years id have to go with a 4 stroke on a doo if i bought one. Specially if i planed on keeping sled for a while nothing like the longevity of the 4 stroke. I own both 2 and 4 strokes love my 2 stroke for XC racing off trail riding but fast trail love my turbo 4 strokes endless power and reliability. Really impressed with ski doo my father rides doos and cats. Iv spent lot of time on his 850 great sled. Doo’s split drive shaft idea is amazing can swap tracks out with ease. My buddy tried doing this years ago back in the early 2000’s but we couldn’t get it to work. We didn’t have the resources doo has of course so I think it’s brilliant all sleds should have it. Great comparison Thanks Mark.
This snowmobile will capture the market share left by the departure of Yamaha’s Genesis 998 turbo from the trail market and the 900 Ace Turbo R becomes the premier 4 stroke engine of the industry. I don’t know what Kevlar Lake is but I’d guess this snowmobile will reign as the go-to sled for anyone wanting a machine to comfortably go fast all day and reliably rack up 5 digits on the odometer over a long service life. Not mentioned in this review is the resolution of SnowTrax’s repeated complaint about hand grip and thumb heater controls for 2025.
This will be best four stroke in market hands down after 2025! almost reliable as my 998 turbo and almost as fast as my 998 turbo… key word almost love what skidoo is doing though
I've ridden both the 900r XRS and a Sidewinder, the Doo handles waaay better infact theres not even a comparison in the twisty trails, once things open up and straight out, the yamacats are fast!
Will you be posting the video of the 850 turbo beating the 900r turbo down the lake?? Because a few other channels have done it and the 900r turbo is faster. I believe it has to do with the 4 stroke torque down low. I have experience on a Renny Xrs 900 R turbo and can say in the right conditions it'll do 190 km/hr and get there fast.
I love the motor in my 22 Renegade XRS 900T R. But i can't get past the ergos of the new Catalyst... Skidoo feels like it needs another 2 inches of seat height before my knees will be comfortable. Add heavy steering to the mix (i know it's a 4-stroke), and I'm missing the 2-stroke life. Oh well, can't have it all, i guess.
Its a VERY nice sled, but calling it a XRS seems a little misleading on Ski Doo's behalf since RS always stood for RACE SLED. This is designed for high mileage touring applications over being a race ready machine for ditching banging and riding at the limit in "Iron Dog" like applications.
Misleading to who? Do you think once this big old girl is delivered the new owner goes and takes a couple laps around the track and calls the dealer to complain about the flex in the chassis? If your one of the very few iron dog participants you purchase the 600 XRS Comp.
@@440coregalore Years ago, when you ordered a XRS, it meant something. The sleds even used to look the part - and were very unique from the rest of the lineup of in season models as well as the X packages. The XRS name has been watered down to nearly every model in their lineup. Looking forward to the XRS Skandic!
@@bedlambikes You could not be more wrong. The XRS has thicker wider running boards, Rack steering, Top shelf shocks, more agressive carbides, forward steering post, more agressive clutching, rail stiffeners, and all the usuall spring check goodies that are Xrs exclusive
@@rideswift I know the sled inside and out, and what it has to offer. It’s a nice sled. But tell me how this portly 4 stroke is a RACE SLED? Who and where are they racing these on a snow cross course?
The matryx isn't keeping up to the Rave in any real bumps regardless of dynamix or walkers on it, rear skid on the Lynx is out of it's league in the real rough stuff.

Excellent clip. These comparison videos are what we want.

We had every intention of doing shootout segments with both 2 and 4-stroke turbos, but the snow just never happened. Now the lake is already out.

Does the 900R Turbo have a fan for cooling motor ?
How about a review on a Renegade X with the regular 900 turbo!
Did not have one this season.
At 4:56 those hand guards are vibrating worse then my 850 lol.
What wins mpg ? 850 or 900
I'd like to know the original name of the lake.
I wonder if the 2s squirter would reduce weight on the 4s.
Water injection no thanks. Don't need to be adding another fluid
LOL i cant take it
Wait ✋. You said Smartshox was hands down the best suspension in the Biz, Knighted 🎚. What about Dynamic that AJ just reviewed.
DYNAMIX wasn't available when we tested this sled. Now you'll have to watch our comparo of the two to get our full thoughts...
Thanks, looking forward to it. Would like to how Dynamics keeps up with a Rave RE in the huge mogles with no rebound control.
