My wife left me, she took the kids and the dog but I can thankfully say, after watching your video, I now know how to play assassination effectively too. It's the little things in life :D
Great content as usual! I especially appreciate clean explanations without looping and repeating the same thing mutliple times which is very common for "unscripted" youtube guides on pretty much anything lol
Very clean video with in-depth explanations. I was just wondering what are your toughts about outlaw and how you place it versus assa in mm+ and raid. Could be a good point to cover (comparing assa with outlaw & sub) for your Q&A video.
Excelent video brother, would love to see a ST/AoE rotation guide video, i really want to learn how to play the game and sometimes a think i need the ABC of the game and its hard to find it. Keep up the good work my friend, love from Brazil ❤
Hey legend love the videos. Been playing around on the ptr and find myself struggling with energy management using the m+ hybrid build when in st scenarios and would love a video or section in one discussing m+ builds, their playstyles and maybe some rotational stuff for both st and aoe encounters when in a dng. Cheers!
I noticed in the rotation in the beginning of the video you pop your deathmark and potion before the shiv and shadow dance-- don't we want to have deathmark in the shadow dance to benefit from the Nightsalker bonus?
Regarding your stat breakdown at the end, with so much being added into being affected by mastery now, I was just curious how crit/haste are keeping up? like what talents/synergies are propping those up and stopping us from running away with mastery? or is it more of a mastery diminishing return that stops us from trying to maximize mastery? Thank you so much for the sin content Whispyr! I've always said rogue has one of the, if not the best, community for any class and you have been a large part of that in recent years. You are very much appreciated!
Also crit just means damage in general. 10% vers is 10% damage 10% crit is a 10% chance to deal 100% additional damage, which is also 10% damage. But then you get extra combo points from seal fate, and extra energy from dashing scoundrel. Haste speeds up your energy a bit but mainly makes your dots deal damage faster/more autos Mastery increases the damage of bleeds/poisons/envenom. And since everything in wow is a multiplier, having a mix of the stats generally will be better since they build off each other. Going from 75% to 76% is adding 1% damage, but 1% crit on 75% vers would be multiplying everything by 1.01, which is better. Hope that helps
from what I can tell, nightstalker snapshots so using it in the last few seconds of kinsbane wont increase the damage? Or is the final damage of kingsbane separate from the dot and wont benefit from NS even if KB was cast during stealth effect?
With the Embellishment section of the video, what uptime were you simming BSL at? in a raid progression environment BSL uptime is almost always horrible (closer to 40% uptime as opposed to the sims default 70%)
I’m simming with the standard 70%, seems like most non-healer/dot heavy fights on my prog logs this patch were around that range. If you want to be closer to 40%, you would continue to run boots
Might be a stupid question but what is my goal after the opener? just keeping up rupture/garrote/envenom until my cds are all ready for another burst window?
Quick question: @4:21 during the burst window, you have full combo points but still throw on a shiv before envenom. Is the uptime on shiv more important than being perfectly efficient with combo points in that scenario?
I believe for Shiv that has always been the case. Applying it, even if it means wasting a CP is more important than being efficient. I think that is the only thing in our toolkit where we make that exception, EXCEPT for situations where we do low CP finishers like one of the new bosses because we need to get Caustic Spatter rolling and doing the typical open would take to long and we lose damage.
what happens if u accidantly drop your chain... on like 150 energy?... do you wait again till 80% or do you start another chain right away? awesome video as always
idk if this asked before or answered but im curious about deathmark inside shadow dance how that works ? does all DM gets buffed or is there any effect to duplicated dots to be more powerful
Hey man. Thank you for the work you put into these! I have a serious build question, do you think with gear progression and higher Mastery stat we will be able to drop dance in favor of Lethality + ER / Lethality + DS ? I feel like 35 crit 20 haste rest in mastery would favor Lethality a lot more ... I Know its kind of hard to tell because gear is limited but I'm sure you got the feeling for it. Just feels like so much missed damage... Thoughts ?
Not at all, shadow dance snapshotting with nightstalker is just simply too strong. Higher mastery makes it even better since all the stuff you’re snapshotting is bleeds/kingsbane, so you’re directly playing into it
Let’s say I’m in a guild that might get Cutting Edge, might not and healing isn’t always on point like it is in higher end. Would double blue silken lining still be the choice or would you choose something else? The likelihood of the opener taking advantage of the embellishments is very high but after that it could be touch and go.
*Question* Deathmark and Vanish have a 2 min CD, which don't line up with Kingsbane and Shadowdance all the time. Are there any significant changes in rotation when Vanish and Deathmark are still on CD?
Nope, same sequence. You do your opener, then 1 min later, shadow dance + kingsbane + 2 shivs, repeat the same sequence as before with full envenom uptime etc etc, just without Deathmark and vanish. At 2 minutes they line up again so you repeat the opener, then at 3 it’s same sequence without Deathmark and vanish, then at 4 you repeat the opener, over and over
if timestrike didnt get nerfed in 10.2 (dont know, took a break until 10.2) the dagger will outperform because of the timestrike effect. I played sub in the current patch and haste is a completely dead stat for sub. a 441 Nick of time eventho it has haste on it is better than the 450 myth sark dagger wirh bis stats because of the timestrike stat
I know it sounds a bit redundant since it's already aoe but does the tier set spatter off the main target? Since they already changed poison bomb to spatter.
How good/bad do you think Undulating Sporecloak will be for Mythic Raiding next tier? Some people are saying that everyone should have used Sporecloak for Aberrus prog (but we just didn't know how strong it was defensively). That sounds pretty dubious to me personally, but I also think that the 10.2 Embellishment landscape is changing in some ways that may make Sporecloak even more appealing.
Sporecloak was shit in 10.1, but with buffs to it and nerfs to other embellishments it’s basically just as good as lining. Probably will want one given current tuning
Unless you are RWF, play what you love/comfortable with. Your % difference between two specs isn't really going to matter unless you are literally trying to get CE in a short amount of time.
i wish there was someone that dedicated for outlaw and sub too but it looks like these 2 specs have giga selfish communities. Good job man, keep going :)
It's hard for me to explain how colossal of an issue it is for me that we don't get long arms.... Why is it a talent instead of base line? Why is it so far down the tree? Why put this snare talent in the middle of the tree instead of the 1 talent every melee dps in the game wants?
because acro is a dps talent and they put it that low precisely so you can't get it for free and have to make a choice about taking it :P You don't just get everything for free
Well, I guess shadow dance is now mandatory for single target as well. Thats a bummer... Season 2 my main was surv hunter and decided to go assassin for the next patch, but as soon as I saw shadow dance being used, already rerolled again. Spent almost 2 months getting gear for my rogue just to bench him again lol I know I'm a cry baby, but nope, shadow dance is not fun, I don't give a damn about dps numbers and always prefered a fun gameplay over damage. So yes, I do think shadow dance is not fun and the class is not to me :( I hope the next expansion they remove this spell forever :D
It's not that hard. You get a button by removing ambush since you don't need it for blind side and then when its up, you just shiv, dance, kb, garrote, rupture. You also don't have to play it. I think the difference between the two is very minimal. Unless you are RWF player, its not going to make that big of a difference. He's just showing what is currently simming the highest.
if you are not mythic progress raiding just dont spec it. for "normal" content, so +20 keys and hc clear and the first mythic bosses it doesnt matter if you lose ~3% dps. And that is with near perfect execution. You think instead of doing 200k dps doing 194k dps makes it unplayable? :D If you dont care about dps numbers I am preeetty sure you are not a mythic progress raider so it does not matter at all if you skill it or not. You could skill the worst possible combination possible when it comes to dps and still do +20s
My wife left me, she took the kids and the dog but I can thankfully say, after watching your video, I now know how to play assassination effectively too. It's the little things in life :D
Your the best. You don't explain like a rap God. Nice smooth delivery on explaining
I appreciate that!

Glad you like them! Usually the feedback is that I’m rambling too much so good to hear you don’t think so :)
I caustic spattered all over my keyboard when you mentioned pooling

Thanks alot, appreciate the effort! Only played Sub + Outlaw in DF, last time Assa was on Jailer prog - this helps massively!
Great to hear!
Very clean video with in-depth explanations. I was just wondering what are your toughts about outlaw and how you place it versus assa in mm+ and raid. Could be a good point to cover (comparing assa with outlaw & sub) for your Q&A video.
I would also be super curious to this point as well.
+1 to that
Came here to ask the same thing. If assa is the go to spec for raid and is comparable to outlaw in m+ I’ll prob just craft daggers
Awesome content. Been looking forward to 10.2 and this video really solidified the hype. Cheers bro!
Appreciate it!
Thanks so much for the ability timeline! You're a legend for these videos!
My pleasure! Finally found one that doesn't omega lag me out amen

Was a great explanation. Thanks, Whispyr
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video, I learned a lot. Also for the weak aura, that will come in handy while practicing.
Thank you for pulling me out of the slums sir

m+ stuff is next on the list!
hey @Whíspyr thanks for the solid content. is there a link to your version of afenar WA layout? like the energy bar being green above 80%?
yep, wago.io/p/Whispyr
Great video man, one question - What is your ambush / mutulate macro?
It’s not a macro it just does that now
@@whispyr5793 so when you have a blindside Proc, ambush replaces mutulate?
Another great one 😎
Thanks again!
I noticed in the rotation in the beginning of the video you pop your deathmark and potion before the shiv and shadow dance-- don't we want to have deathmark in the shadow dance to benefit from the Nightsalker bonus?
no, deathmarks dot doesn't actually do all that much
Great video, but how did your mutilate automatically go to ambush during blindside proc? I need that ASAP.
That’s just baseline 10.2
Regarding your stat breakdown at the end, with so much being added into being affected by mastery now, I was just curious how crit/haste are keeping up? like what talents/synergies are propping those up and stopping us from running away with mastery? or is it more of a mastery diminishing return that stops us from trying to maximize mastery? Not whispyr but if i had to guess energy economy, crits generate more combo points from mutilate and haste more poison proc and energy gen.
Yep, exactly what David said
Also crit just means damage in general.
10% vers is 10% damage
10% crit is a 10% chance to deal 100% additional damage, which is also 10% damage. But then you get extra combo points from seal fate, and extra energy from dashing scoundrel.

you would need to cast the kingsbane during stealth for nightstalker to apply

I will not be. I don’t think they’re interested in making videos
But that’s their thing

Typically will want to wait until 80% or a cooldown in that situation

might suggest a sporecloak, it's similar in power level for the numbers I was checking but you get the healing on top, with a higher uptime

I have a question about assa, inn10.2 is energy management better or worse than now?
You have to manage your energy way more than you would now, and that’s fun in my opinion
Hiya! Welcome back from sims!
If I want to play twist the knife, what am I dropping? For heroic raiding.
Improved poison or internal bleeding
Does Nick of Time really do better than the new raid dagger? Or is it just because of an ilvl difference?
same ilvl but timestrike
if timestrike didnt get nerfed in 10.2 (dont know, took a break until 10.2) the dagger will outperform because of the timestrike effect.

It’s very weird tbh, why have a proc if it doesn’t actually need to be reacted to
