Mary makes history and the Classics come alive... paintings, words, history, pottery.. the lot !
Will MB be providing an extended video tutorial in the future? I loved this snippet and would like to have heard more.
One hell of an author, her Oxford Classics books on Roman/Classical art is superb.
I stumbled upon the BBC program the other night. Learnt a lot about Titian and the male gaze. Such a shame the doors are shut on this exhibition but hopefully not for too long. Thanks for uploading this!

The opening passage, quoted just before entering the room with the paintings, is from the marvellous Frank Justus Miller translation - almost King James Bible in resonance. I wonder which English version Mary Beard favours most?
But no sign or word of The Death of Actaeon - Titian, this time, being TOO subversive/anti - Classical?
