She dresses in unisex & men's clothes because it's the style she likes & is comfy. She like sports & short hair. But it only takes a little time of getting to know her to see that she's a woman by the way she talks & acts. She's just an outspoken American woman that believes everyone should be accepted as they are.

I kinda felt like at the end Gongchan held back a bit at the end while removing his socks to let Yein win. Might have been or might not been but if it was that was sweet of him. Now I finally like it after seeing this performance.

But two foreigners I know who have lived in Korea for several years and watched this episode interpreted what Kangin said as legitimately hurtful. What do you think?
I don't think he meant to be insulting, but fell back on old jokes that are stereotypes. In his job they tell guys & girls they have to watch their weight ALL THE TIME while also telling them they must increase the amount of hours/work they put into practicing. Amber even stated it was done to her group & this was why she ended up with health problems like her bad shoulder & why so many stars faint on stage, etc. Kangin genuinely liked Amber, but because she's not one to complain constantly I don't think he understood how tired of the "gender mistake" joke she was, because every show she was ever on used that joke more than once for laughs & at least a few comments on every f(x) video had someone insisting that she was lesbian or "trying to be a guy" because of how she dressed, or how they wanted her out of the group because she wasn't "girly enough". Even after she finally made public statements that she was straight, just a tomboy, & about it being ok to make an honest mistake but that it hurt her feelings when people said it deliberately, they insisted she was lying, was chest-binding, or even trans but hiding it just to keep her job. I'm thinking "wtf?" when I read that because why would a gay or trans 15 year old girl insist on going to & staying in a homophobic country where she didn't know the language & had no family or friends for support, when she could have stayed in the US where there are many people "out of the closet" & it wouldn't keep you from doing well in a career in show business? She said she chose pursuing music be cause she loved it & loved challenges, & thought going to Korea would be both. But she's not dumb or suicidal, she could find the same challenges in a lot of other places.

Someone brought up an interesting point to me: Was Kangin being insulting when he told Lovelyz they needed to diet because they are female idols? Was he being insulting when he said that the MC team had three guys because of Amber, and that Amber was more athletic than most men? Do you think Amber was actually insulted?
At the time, I just took these statements purely as jokes. But two foreigners I know who have lived in Korea for several years and watched this episode interpreted what Kangin said as legitimately hurtful. What do you think?
I don't think he meant to be insulting, but fell back on old jokes that are stereotypes. In his job they tell guys & girls they have to watch their weight ALL THE TIME while also telling them they must increase the amount of hours/work they put into practicing. Amber even stated it was done to her group & this was why she ended up with health problems like her bad shoulder & why so many stars faint on stage, etc. Kangin genuinely liked Amber, but because she's not one to complain constantly I don't think he understood how tired of the "gender mistake" joke she was, because every show she was ever on used that joke more than once for laughs & at least a few comments on every f(x) video had someone insisting that she was lesbian or "trying to be a guy" because of how she dressed, or how they wanted her out of the group because she wasn't "girly enough". Even after she finally made public statements that she was straight, just a tomboy, & about it being ok to make an honest mistake but that it hurt her feelings when people said it deliberately, they insisted she was lying, was chest-binding, or even trans but hiding it just to keep her job. I'm thinking "wtf?" when I read that because why would a gay or trans 15 year old girl insist on going to & staying in a homophobic country where she didn't know the language & had no family or friends for support, when she could have stayed in the US where there are many people "out of the closet" & it wouldn't keep you from doing well in a career in show business? She said she chose pursuing music be cause she loved it & loved challenges, & thought going to Korea would be both. But she's not dumb or suicidal, she could find the same challenges in a lot of other places.
I dont think Kangin directed his comment only to Lovelyz,more like generally bcuz it is true what he said girl groups have to diet before comeback even if they're already very skinny.On the other hand what he said about Amber was not nice,she's still a girl although she didn't follow like 90% of Korean girl idols,shes not full of cuteness and she's probably manlier than quite a high percent of male idols but that doesn't seem to bother anyone. Its not ok for a girl to act manly but its okay for a guy to act girly
+xo love maybe because culture. In Indonesia the boys who acts girly is bullied, and the girl who act boyish like Amber is okay
