Thank you guys for the great video! I also bought two Firman's from Costco, specifically to run them parallel and power the AC on my trailer. The instruction manual and website were not informative at all. Your video explained everything about parallel operation...and simply! Thanks again.
Good generator I like them the only problem is they have the air intake on the bottom and if you set them down especially in sand dirty surfaces snow etc. it can suck up get past the filter and destroy the motor. Make sure you put it on a picnic table piece of cardboard or clean surface I carry a small piece of plywood to set it on other than that great generator just be careful of that especially if you’re lending it to somebody let them know.
It looks just like my powerhouse generator..I've never heard of Firman until today. I saw a display at True Value and wanted to see a review. Thanks for the video. True Value had theirs priced at $699 and that's a huge difference from the Costco price you mentioned. The salesman said he has yet to have a complaint on this model, so I'm considering purchasing one. I'm definitely going to be checking prices though.
What people don’t realize is all these small suitcase gens are nearly the same. The air intake might be on the bottom, but that’s Firman’s suitcase design. Doesn’t mean the guts inside are garbage. Inside it’s the same engine as Pulsar, Wen, generac, onan… you name it. So spend from $225 to $849. Your call people. They’re all the same on the inside!
@@JCTFIXIT I just saw another video. Apparently, the air intake is on the bottom. So some people destroyed theirs running it in sand. I will make an aluminum stand with extra filters for mine. Welding aluminum is a pain in the arse, but if it save my generator, it will be worth it.
I have a couple stations in my town that are all ethanol free. I also have some stations that have dedicated separate pumps for ethanol free. I wouldn't pump from the shared pump either.
I am wondering which one makes the least sound 🤔 I live in an apt building and I can not disturb my neighbors with the sound. Can’t really find a quiet one.
My recommendation would be just to use the oil that they provide you and run it with about half load for 1 tank and then change oil and run like normal
Anyone looking in 2024 i got this generator and got some Tru Fuel 4 stroke from amazon ethanol free. its been great and you can store it forever without it going bad. Just some FYI
Absolutely awesome I use it all the time for camping. Like others have noted you just made to make sure you do not set it directly in dirt or sand as the air pickup is on the belly of the unit
Just make sure you place it on a hard surface when running. Do not place directly in dirt or sand because the air intake is on the bottom. When camping, I set it on a small tarp.
I have seen videos of guys doing it, but you would have to have fan turned on first on low and absolutely no other loads. I would probably get something bigger for camper AC. That way you could at least have a couple other small loads going simultaneously.
No, it would run multiple items, but heaters usually draw a lot of current, so it could create a tripping condition. If you wanted to surefire run a space heater and fridge and some other peripherals I would look at a 3000-4000 watt generator.
Thanks! I would only run stabilizer if I knew it was going to sit for 90 days or more and even then I don't. When running ethanol free premium all my stuff fires up in the spring no problems.

Thanks. Just bought one for outdoor cooking and such. Thanks for the review. Never had a gas powered generator before!!!
Good review bud😊
Sweet! It's a solid unit. Still running great!

Nice! I believe Costco still has them for under $500
eBay refurbished by Firman right now for $225 shipped. It’s a no brainer.

They just came on sale at Costco Canada. I will put in my order. Thanks for sharing!
It's a great little unit

If you will be setting it in dirt or sand, you could disconnect snorkel that goes to bottom and allow it to pull air from the sides.
@@JCTFIXIT that would probably work also, but I will still make the aluminum rack. I love beating aluminum to submission.
That works!
Looks good. I have the bigger w3081. Runs like a champ. I'd recommend using stabilizer whether you use ethenol or no-ethanol fuel.
I have never ran stabilizer with ethanol free fuel and never had any problems. The stabilizer is basically to stabilize the ethanol.
@@JCTFIXIT they advertise no ethanol on premium gas but...can you trust it?

The air intake is on the bottom, so be careful not to run it in sand. It will get into the oil and grind the piston walls. BEWARE
I did mention that in my description.... not my video. I just always place mine on a tarp or board when camping.
Yup major flaw
I saw a firman machine getting fixed because owner apparently had clogged that air intake, wow, not good, would not buy it regardless of that price.
I have a 13btu on an rv ,,, I wonder if it’s good for that and how many hrs on a full tank of gas ⛽️. Thinking of purchasing it. Undecided
Unless you have a soft start on you ac unit, you will want something just a little bigger.
I am wondering which one makes the least sound 🤔 I live in an apt building and I can not disturb my neighbors with the sound. Can’t really find a quiet one.
What would you be using it for? Perhaps a battery backup would be better?
Would this unit run portable air compressors?
Depends on the power demand of the compressor, but I would imagine it would run most 110V small pancake style compressors
What is the break in process? Can’t seem to find any consistent recommendations.
My recommendation would be just to use the oil that they provide you and run it with about half load for 1 tank and then change oil and run like normal
thx for the video, do you think that this will handle fastpitch softball machine? i couldnt find the voltage specs on the pitching machine
I would think so most are around 1000 watts. Just make sure you throw down some cardboard under the unit as air intake is on the bottom of the unit.
@@JCTFIXIT agreed and thx for tip. Will do
Can I use this for a 1/4 HP sump pump as an emergency backup during the power outage?
Should be able to do that no problem. Check the wattage rating on your pump.
Remember, 1hp 756W divide that by 4. This thing is 2000w, you could run 8 sump pumps
Thanks for video ! all I wanted to see :D
You're welcome, and thanks for watching!
Only one regular outlet?
Yep. One regular and one RV. Stuff like this exists.... amzn.to/4bLkHHN

There is a website dedicated to showing where ethanol free fuel can be purchased. www.pure-gas.org/
How is this 2 years later?
Absolutely awesome I use it all the time for camping. Like others have noted you just made to make sure you do not set it directly in dirt or sand as the air pickup is on the belly of the unit
WOW great review: Hows it running lately still ok? I am looking to get this any help is appreciated thanks!
Running great!
@@JCTFIXIT Thanks

Could it power up a full size fridge in a power outage?
Yes. Absolutely.
@@JCTFIXIT Awesome. Thanks for the super quick reply!!!
As always, I'm happy to help out. 😊

I have seen videos of guys doing it, but you would have to have fan turned on first on low and absolutely no other loads. I would probably get something bigger for camper AC. That way you could at least have a couple other small loads going simultaneously.
Will it run a skill saw?
Depends on the skill saw but I would think so
They are on clearance for $199.97 in store. Problem is they are sold out and Costco online still sells them for $489.
Still a good price
Just grabbed mine for that price!
They were 300 not 199
Thanks brother
Hopefully you tool advantage of the sweet costco deal!
If leaks gas what might be the problem
Could be a few things. I would spray with soapy water and check to find source of leak
Can used this for home refrigerator, and a heater
Yes. Might be a one or the other situation depending on your heater wattage.
@@JCTFIXIT thank u so good only good for one house whole item

@@JCTFIXIT thank you for information
Is it 240v
No. Just 120
How do I fix the pull cord?
That's a whole separate function. Wish I had something to help you out.
Amazing review! Can I buy your beard for $350?
For you.... $299. Thanks for watching!
Nice vid
Thanks!
where can I buy ethanol free gas?
www.pure-gas.org/
sir is waterprof
It is not waterproof.
The reviews on this brand generator are really, really bad! I would steer very clear from Firman.
No problems for me...... air intake could be in a better location, but so far so good.
Where are all the bad reviews you are talking about
@Chucky L you don't have to look very far. LMAO do a little research, open your eyes.
I have a regular 4500 w firman (not an inverter) and ive been using it for 4 years a few times a year with no problems.
That is loud...
Without a db meter it's all subjective. This is a very quiet generator

Fuel stabilizer not needed with ethanol free gas
