As a person who is new to owning pinball machines I thought this was a pretty good intro. I'd love to see a video on how you fix that switch matrix problem. I don't see man common "troubleshooting" videos around to show where to even begin when something is wrong. Nice video and hope to see more
I never played this one sadly but have wanted to. That translite has always caught my eye with Arnold's huge head and that Detective Cat. I heard that cat was played by Danny DeVito in the movie, who I loved him doing Phil in Disney's Hercules. Quick question -- does that music in the Tales From the Crypt advertisement play every time it shows on the DMD? Or does it only play once regardless if you turned attract mode sound on or not? I've run these games in attract mode through Visual Pinball (MAME) and they only play once when you turn the attract sound on.
Great video as always Cary, dont forget that ugly solder joint that needed attention, it could be your Gremlin! A switch matrix video would be very informative I know I would loke to see it. Keep up the great work it is appreciated!
Thanks Cary! You should have seen this Stern Magic I looked at the other day. Beat to hell to say the least and too much of a project for me at this stage in my learning. Anyways, I wouldn't mind seeing a video on how to adjust that pop bumper to make it a bit more sensitive! Are you going to be posting strictly on SDTM or will you dual upload onto your channel as well?
Great video for beginners. Side note: SDTM usually doesn’t use profanity but you must have dropped 6 or 7 in the first 10 minutes. Was thinking of watching with my nephews but I’m Glad I watched this first. Tone it down a bit so we can get the younger generation involved. I can’t even show this at my school to my students either. I’m sure there will be people that say “grow up” or “no big deal” but all it does it limit your audience. Keep making videos!
I feel like saying "that's an indication this was on route" is unnecessary when discussing a Last Action Hero. They were ALL on route. It was super rare for someone to buy a NIB game for home use back then.
Owned it, sold it and no regrets. The magnet board has to be upgraded or it'll keep blowing fuses and the code is rough and the use of the crane during multi ball and landing 2 balls on it results in waiting for ball searches which royally sucks as the mode times out and scoring lost. Such a feature packed game but the code (or lack thereof) ruins it. "Come back later" .......I did ... still didn't make me want to keep it.
Great work, like what you're bringing to the channel. You could save yourself some time, and just say that if the game was made before the 2010's, it was likely routed. If you are hunting for 90's pins, they were almost always routed at some point in their history. There are enough collectors out there now that finding HUO games is much more likely for newer games. The market has changed dramatically. The real thing that you go over is, there is good condition routed, and bad condition routed. Usually a fix by fix basis as you've explored here. I've seen the soldered fuse holders so many times it makes me sick!
I agree entirely. The possibility of finding a 90's pin HUO is very rare. This does give people an idea of what to expect from a rougher side of the spectrum routed pin though. I would rather the fuses be soldered than see nails instead of fuses though. (gasp!)
An entertaining and nice video, but too low-tech. Learning how to screw in feet is a little insulting. Sort of like the pinball 'shopping' videos, showing how to use a towel with Windex. More information in less minutes should be the goal here along with raising the bar.
What is "low tech" for some people is new information to others. This hobby is on the rise for lots of new people. I get asked questions all the time what most of us would consider common knowledge information. We all at one point didnt know how to tie our shoes. If I can reach 1 person. Im happy. Thanks for watching!
@@isocubesoftware2713 The rise of interest in pinball gets higher and higher every month. I think people are starting to see the enjoyment in the hobby. There are many reasons behind this, but that is content for a future video ;)
My drill is adjusted accordingly to not cause damage. I have extra leg bolt carriages in stock too. So, no biggie. That leg bolt carriage was bad when i was buying it. lol.

Thanks. Now that Texas Pinfest is done I can get back to work! lol.

Picking one of these up this weekend so stoked, great vid!

Hi, Adam! I will be posting on both channels. I plan to put a video up on my channel explaining this further.
Propane torch? A little extreme I would say. Ummm, little bit of penetrating oil on the stud and waiting 15 mins with the vice grip. Works every time.

I apologize. I will start proofing better and give a warning at the start of the video or do better to censor.
Nice man! Shoot, shaker motor on? That crane looks solid lol! Mine is all over the damn place.
Annnnnd you just said the motor is working. Nice!
looking at possible getting a LAH and is it worth picking up?

Chris Ellison there is a new code update. Love it.

Cary Hardy true that!
lol I got a splinter!

Isocube Software we hear ya, but we are attempting to cater to all skill levels, from beginners to collectors. We always appreciate your feedback Iso

@@CaryHardy But you did reach me, and I did enjoy the video :) Are there a lot of new people in pinball? I just sold my last one - I'm free at last!
@@SDTM Yeah, Cary pointed that out - that is, of course, correct.

He rips on operators then uses a drill to tighten leg bolts 😂 😂 LOL
LilmsMcD oh I didn’t perceive any hate toward operators. Cary is a big location pinball guy. We here at SDTM are Pro Good Operators haha

WTF is a “routed pinball machine”?
A game that has been on location or location(s) for that matter. Any older games will be "routed" more than likely.
Cary Hardy thanks
