I was in 11 Signals in 1985, basic training. Guess everyone's retired years ago. Catterick , tbh a fab time where we gave the training team a few surprises on live maneuvers, ha I was in charge and wasn't going to put my platoon in an obvious ambush , so worked out the situation and approached from the best approach and overran the opponents (the trainers) all dead (pretend) and got to our designated target. I got a huge bollocking for doing this and not following the stupid obvious original route lolol. Fun times
Staff at Blandford.... Funny how they drop the attitude once they get posted to another working unit - At a regular working unit, they're just another full-screw who MIGHT be in charge of Daf keys. I remember one of these mutants turning up at 16 Sigs. He went on a 2's parade with his silly hat and got absolutely REKT by the RSM.
Jeepers, that's one big fat training corporal. If he is not careful he will be a training corpse. How on earth did he pass his pfts and battle fitness tests?
Sometimes in life these guys just tend to get on lol, but in truth I was in basic in 90-91 & bar any old timer I can’t remember anyone who appeared unfit although I’m sure they could surprise some People. He looks like one of these types that u never see at PT parades or BFT/CFTs etc. As I said there are some who just seem to exist. When were u in mate?
He will have been one of these mutants who have a laminated biff-chit. You know, the ones who go to every parade in trainers and stag-on back at camp when everyone else is grafting on excercise. Because he gets shit faced every night in the bar but plays rugby, he will be seen as a "character", hence the two stripes on his arm despite being a firm 15 minute mile and a half type of guy.
